"I'm the star of justice from the South Star six holy fists. I live for others, and die for others."
Conclusion of Chapter 2: Farewell Rei!
Your Heroic Legend Will Be Told Throughout Time
Rei looks around the house. He thinks that in these distressing times, he has lived with a heart like a starved wolf.
He recalls how he used his South Star waterfowl fist style to kill people, as his goal was to defeat the man with seven scars. This man was the one who'd taken away Airi, his only sister.
Rei recalls that he then met Kenshiro. He then feels a pain in his chest, and falls down.
He looks at a picture of a woman on the wall, and thinks of Mamiya. He thinks she's a tough, beautiful woman. He remembers the first time he met her.
He then recalls when he, Kenshiro and Mamiya found Airi. They saved her from the Fang clan, and brought her back to Mamiya's village. There, Kenshiro hit the kemyo pressure point on Airi, which restored her sight.
Rei and Airi were finally reunited. Rei thinks that, for some reason, he felt at peace when he was around Kenshiro. But Kenshiro had his own fate to follow, as his brother, Jagi, appeared. Jagi lived solely on his hated for Kenshiro. He was also the imposter man with seven scars, who had taken Airi.
There was also Toki, a generous and strong man, in spite of the illness he endured. Rei then feels more pain, and falls back down. He hears the laughter of the Fist King, and recalls encountering him.
Raoh, the one who calls himself the ruler of the century's end. Rei attempted to kill Raoh, but Raoh struck a pressure point on him.
Raoh gave Rei just three days to live. He did this because he wanted to spread fear, and warriors with three days to live will tremble in the fear of death. That terror will turn to legend, giving his name of the Fist King even more weight. Rei knows that Raoh is gone, but his fist has slowly destroyed his body.
The effect of the pressure point Raoh hit caused him great amounts of pain at random. Rei then thinks about Mamiya, the first woman in his life he's ever loved. But he found out something about Mamiya... she had Yuda's mark on her shoulder.
People of Medicine City found out that Mamiya had been one of Yuda's women. Mamiya said that Yuda was the one who took her future away from her, and condemned her to fighting for the rest of her life. Yuda was the star of deception, from the South Star six holy fists. He believed he was stronger than anyone in the world... and also the most beautiful.
Rei had found a goal to devote his remaining life to: to defeat Yuda. But Rei then found out that Mamiya could also see the death omen star. It's said that anyone who could see this star is destined to die soon. Rei told Mamiya he would devote his life to her.
The time of Rei's destiny then arrived. Yuda came to Mamiya's village, and fought with Rei. Yuda's forces blew up a dam, causing water to flood through the village. With Rei unable to use this South Star waterfowl fist techniques due to quicksand, Yuda was able to turn the tide. He attacked Rei with his rending wave technique.
Yuda was about to use his blood-adorned beak secret technique, but Rei was able to get free. He used his soaring white grace secret technique to defeat Yuda.
Yuda admitted that Rei was always in his soul. He had been always chasing after that vision of Rei, and the beautiful dance of the South Star waterfowl fist. He asked to die in Rei's arms, something Rei granted him.
Rei's moment of death was close. He told Mamiya that she should live her life to the fullest until the death omen star falls. Even if it was just for a moment, she should live as a woman, and pursue a woman's happiness. He then said farewell to her, and told her to stay back. She didn't want her to see his death. Part of his shoulder then exploded, sending one of his shoulder pads flying off. Rei told Mamiya to be happy.
Back in the present, Rei thinks that he's done all that needed to be done. His body then starts to rupture. He thinks that the star of justice lives for others, and dies for others.
He has no regrets... Kenshiro, Lin...
Bat, Toki, Airi...
...and Mamiya... he then closes his eyes.
Everyone outside then hears an explosion. Inside, Rei falls down. Everyone outside then hears another explosion.
Blood seeps through under the front door of the house. Everyone realizes that Rei has died.
A villager pours gasoline around the house. Kenshiro says that he will not forget how Rei had lived. Like Shin, he will live on in his heart. He then uses a torch to set the gasoline on fire.
The whole house catches fire. As everyone watches, Mamiya looks up at the stars, and realizes something: she can no longer see the death omen star!
Lin thinks that Rei's death has brought them a miracle. Kenshiro looks up at the Big Dipper, and thinks that Rei's legend will live on forever.
