A long time a go, there were guards who defended the six gates of the Imperial Palace. They were the strongest of all the various styles of Nanto Seiken, and were known as the Nanto Roku Seiken (South Star Six Sacred Fists). But after the nuclear war, the current six members of the Nanto Roku Seiken split up.

Rei...a member of the Nanto Roku Seiken and one of the few people that Kenshiro could call a friend. Remember when Rei first appeared? Yes. He pretended to be a woman to get punks to chase after him. He'd then reveal himself and kill them, taking any food they may have. It was the only way he could survive in his quest.

Rei was the master of Nanto Suicho Ken (South Star Waterfowl Fist). It allowed him to slice his opponents into pieces. Rei eventually met up with Kenshiro, Lin and Bat in Mamiya's village, but the way he acted made him look like he was an evil person. Yes.

But it turns out he was a good man after all and was looking for his missing sister, Airi. With only part of her wedding dress to remember her by, Rei found out that his home village had been attacked. His parents were killed and his sister was kidnapped by a man with seven scars on his chest. Yes.

Rei found out that the Fang clan had his sister, but thanks to the efforts of him, Kenshiro and Mamiya, she was rescued. Kenshiro hit pressure points on her to let her see again. Yes.

After Airi was saved, Rei lived just to assist Kenshiro, Lin, Bat and Mamiya, and helped them out whenever they needed it. Rei was a man who lived for justice.

However, as Rei fought against some of Ken-Oh's men, he looked up at the stars and saw the big dipper. He could also see a small star next to it. He did not know that this star was known as the star of death, and anyone who could see it was meant to die within a year. Yes.

One day, Rei was returning to Mamiya's village when he found Bat. Bat had been injured, but managed to tell Rei that Ken-Oh's forces had attacked the village. Yes. Wasting no time, Rei headed there and fought off the invaders. Yes. However, he soon found himself face to face with Ken-Oh himself. He knew that Ken-Oh was Raoh, a man who trained in Hokuto Shinken along with Kenshiro.

Sensing his incredibly evil aura, Rei tried to engage Raoh in battle, but found that he could not even get close to him -his incredible fighting spirit prevented opponents from even touching his body. Boasting that nobody could possibly beat him now, Raoh told him that his fight was futile. Rei decided to use his ultimate attack, Danko Sousai Ken (Self-Sacrifice Offset Fist) which would kill Raoh at the cost of his own life.

However, Raoh knew what Rei was going to do, and before he could use the attack against him, he threw his cape over him. He then struck a pressure point on Rei and defeated him. Yes.

But instead of killing him there and then, Raoh had hit a pressure point that gave him just three days to live. The reason he had done this is that he doesn't kill the strong people who face him straight away. He wanted them to taste fear first before they die and by giving them 72 hours of life left, they will be able to feel the fear of Ken-Oh -and this fear is something he wanted to spread to make himself a legendary figure.

Three days left to live...even in that time, Rei fought valiantly as the star of justice. And as Kenshiro knows, his struggle hadn't ended yet...
