During the night, Fudo's funeral begins. And at the funeral pyre, Kenshiro, Rihaku, Lin, Bat and all of Fudo's adopted children gather to watch the fire burn. Rihaku tells Fudo to rest in peace whilst assuring him that, somehow, he will protect Yuria. Yes, the five chariots burned brightly to protect the last Nanto General...

The Nanto Goshasei (South Star Five Chariots) consisted of Hyui of the Wind, Juuza of the Clouds...

...Shuren of the Flame, Fudo of the Mountains and himself, Rihaku of the Ocean. They were sworn to protect Yuria, the last Nanto General.

Remember when Yuria "died"? Yes. Shin ran down to the bottom of his fortress as quickly as he could and found something incredible...

...Yuria was still alive! She was saved by the Goshasei, who told Shin that they have come to take Yuria back to the hidden Nanto capital. Shin didn't want to lose Yuria, but after Rihaku told him about Raoh being close to Southern Cross, he handed her over and the left, saying that he would protect her life by taking the blame for her "death". Yes. Shin then walked away and we should all know what happened to him.

One night Rihaku and Tou saw the stars and realised that it was time for the five chariots to start making their moves. With Yuria safe in the capital, Hyui of the wind was the first to be called upon.

Hyuui's strength was from his Gosha Fuuretsu Ken technique which let him split his enemies into pieces. He went out with his army attacking Ken-Oh's troops. Yes. Eventually, he came face to face with Ken-Oh himself.

Hyuui attacked, but he was defeated by just one of Ken-Oh's punches. Yes. News of his death reached the next of the five chariots, who quickly went out with his army to confront Ken-Oh. Yes. This man and his force ambushed Ken-Oh in a canyon.

Shuren wanted to take revenge of Hyuui's death and used fire based attacks. Yes. He managed to get right next to Ken-Oh and with his flames tried to reduce him to ash.

But even with his determination, he could not beat Ken-Oh and was killed by having his head crushed and his neck broken, leaving him in a flaming, mangled mess.

Getting desperate, Rihaku sent a message to Juuza of the clouds, telling him to make his move. But Juuza wasn't interested! Yes. Juuza just wanted to drink and party with his friends. Yes. Rihaku sent two of his men in to convince Juuza to help, but he still wouldn't budge. Yes. Eventually Juuza was captured and taken to the capital thanks to Rihaku's daughter, Tou. Yes.

At first Juuza still didn't want to help, until he found out that the last General was Yuria. She was a childhood friend of his and he had fallen in love with her, but his hope of pursuing a relationship was shattered when he learned that they were half-siblings from the same mother. But now he knew the facts, he and his crazy brigade went out to stop Raoh. Yes. Finding him, Juuza fought his opponent in a one on one battle. Twice.

During the second battle Juuza used his most powerful attack, but Raoh managed to partially block it and later beat up Juuza. Raoh wanted to know who the last General was but Juuza refused to tell him. Yes. Juuza continued to fight Raoh, but was eventually killed. Yes.

Meanwhile, during the adventures of the other chariots, Fudo of the mountains was also making his move. His task was to bring Kenshiro to the Nanto capital so he could meet the last General. Yes. But due to the continuous attacks of Ken-Oh's forces, Kenshiro had to go to the capital alone. Yes. Due to his large size Fudo was quite good at destroying entire legions by himself, such as throwing big rocks at them!

Fudo also had his own village where he looked after orphaned children. But he also had a bit of a sinister past -he used to be known as a demon and acted like a thug, beating up who he wanted and taking anything he desired. He even invaded the Hokuto Shinken dojo once and made Raoh feel fear for the first time in his life. Yes. When Raoh wanted to destroy his fear, he decided he must confront Fudo, and the two fought each other. But Raoh's overwhelming power was too much for Fudo to deal with.

Fudo bravely continued to fight on, getting his strength from his children who were watching. The children even stood up to Raoh at one point. Due to the way the battleground was set-up, Fudo was shot with arrows when he shouldn't have been. He later died from his injuries, but the words he left Raoh with further messed with his mind. Yes. Back in the present, the fires die down.

Shuren of the flame...Juuza of the clouds...Fudo of the mountain...Hyuui of the wind...and Rihaku's daughter, Tou. Rihaku says that he can hear their cries. But he, as the last surviving member of the five chariots, vows to protect Yuria. But he knows that the only way he can do that is by pinning all his hopes on Kenshiro defeating Raoh. As Kenshiro also stares up at the stars, he says that the deaths of the chariots will not be in vain, and soon he will be with Yuria once more.
