Synopsis
Bui thinks he can win -if he can deflect the black dragon wave back to Hiei, it'll devour him. Hiei unleashes the dragon, and Bui takes it head-on -but he grabs it and manages to stop it.
Hiei puts even more energy into the dragon, changing its aura from red to white. The dragon pushes Bui back, sending him up into the air, but Bui continues to grapple with it. He and the dragon crash out of the stadium, and Hiei watches as it pins Bui against a cliff. But Bui manages to throw the dragon back at Hiei, and it consumes him.
Bui returns to the ring, but before Juri can declare him the winner, there is a sudden burst of energy, as Hiei also returns to the ring. Hiei has become strong enough to contain and control the vast energy absorbed from the black dragon. Bui attacks him, but his strikes have no effect. Hiei hits Bui up into the air, and then hits him from behind, sending him crashing down into one of the stadium's stands.
Bui tells Hiei to kill him, and explains that he fought and lost to Toguro before. He had trained hard for a rematch, but Toguro had also gotten much stronger, and opened an overwhelming gap between their powers. Now that he has been completely beaten by Hiei, he says there's no longer any reason for him to live. Hiei spares him and tells him that if he wants to die, he can do it himself. Hiei returns to the ring just before Juri reaches 10 on her count, and she declares him the victor. As Hiei returns to his team, he reveals this technique has a fatal flaw: in order to allow his extremely overworked spectral power and physical strength to recover, he needs to hibernate for a few hours. He warns Yusuke and Kuwabara that if he wakes up and finds they've lost their matches, he'll really give it to them. He then collapses, as Yusuke laughs -can they believe this guy? He acts big right up until he falls flat!
-During the part where Hiei prepares the black dragon wave, the anime added several extra bits showing the other characters reacting to it. Stuff like Sakyo asking about it, Shizuru feeling a chill and Kuwabara praying for it not to harm him was not in the manga.
-Juri is mostly absent during the fight in the manga. The anime shows what she's up to, such as having to be pulled off the ring by Koto.
-The manga black dragon isn't as big as the one in the anime.
-Hiei does not boost the dragon's power with his own energy in the manga as he does in the anime.
-Bui doesn't get pinned to the cliff in the manga.
-The manga doesn't show Bui's fight with Toguro, it's only mentioned by Bui that Toguro defeated him. The anime shows what happened a couple of times.
-The anime expands on Bui's final assault on Hiei -the parts where he tosses Hiei up, knees him and plants him into the stadium's ceiling before kicking him back down weren't in the manga.
-The manga does not have Hiei repel Bui's battle aura as he does in the anime.
-This episode's art style is mostly quite different from the usual quality, for the most part. There are a lot of questionable shots, although the style returns back to normal from the part where Koto comments that Hiei has repelled Bui's battle aura.
-The black dragon has a red aura at first, but after Hiei puts more energy into it, the aura turns white. However during this shot, it's red again.
-Koto's legs are skin colored during this shot.
-In this episode, it's shown that Bui and Karasu were together when the Toguro brothers defeated them. However in this episode, the flashbacks show that Karasu and elder Toguro were absent when Bui and younger Toguro fought.
