It had been a tumultuous first match. Kurama had killed Karasu, but since it happened after he was counted down, the victory went to the Toguro team. And then, in the second match, Hiei faced Bui in a fierce clash of powers. However, even that was no more than a preliminary skirmish! Bui had taken off his armor, revealing tremendous power. Who will come out the winner?

The Ultimate Secret Technique!
Roar of the Black Dragon Wave

Bui tells Hiei to get serious, and levitates via his battle aura. Hiei says he must want to see it that badly, but he'll regret this. Hiei removes the wrappings around his arm, and says there's no turning back now.

He'll show him the perfected immolation black dragon wave! As Hiei's energy increases, so does Bui's. Koto comments that there is an incredible amount of demon energy emanating from Hiei's right arm.

Kurama says that Hiei is serious, and is going to use that technique. Kuwabara starts to pray for it to not harm him, whilst all Koenma can think about is getting out of here via his booster rockets -if things get bad.

Shizuru says she feels some strange kind of chill, and Botan says she can feel something dreadful. Sakyo is pleased that it looks like this Hiei fellow is going to be showing them the long-awaited black dragon wave technique. The last time he used it was in the tournament's first round, against Zeru. Younger Toguro says for this technique to appear again now... it's quite grandiose. As Hiei continues to ready the technique, energy swirls around the entire island.

Parts of the stadium start to crumble away, as Koto wonders if Hiei intends to use the black dragon wave. She notices Juri not moving, and tells her that she's in harms way where she is -she needs to hurry and take shelter! But Juri says her knees are shaking so badly, she can't move.

Koto has to pull Juri off the ring herself. As Hiei continues to increase his demon energy, more parts of the stadium crumble.

Bui remains floating, surrounded by his green battle aura. The Urameshi team are amazed at Hiei's demon energy, and Kurama says there's no doubt he can feel the flames from the Demon Realm now. Hiei has perfected the technique, and made the secrets of the wicked king immolation fist his own. Koto says this isn't the same as the last black dragon wave, as this one is using far more energy.

Bui thinks that if he can avoid this attack, he can win. A black dragon wave which is turned back will return to its caster, and it will devour them. Hiei runs forward and unleashes the dragon, which heads straight towards Bui.

Bui yells, and grabs the dragon by the mouth. It pushes him into the air, but with his incredible strength, he takes the dragon head-on and stops it. Hiei tells him to not take it so lightly, and throws out even more energy.

This energy hits the dragon, turning it from red to white. Bui gets thrown around the stadium, but he still manages to keep a hold of it. He thinks about that time...

"I will not kill you yet. You will become stronger. You will then come seeking my life once again!"

Koto comments that this colossal black dragon wave has super power, and whilst Bui caught it momentarily, it's now pushing him up and out of the ring! Bui still manages to hang on, as the dragon continues to push him around. As it does, the energy from the dragon begins to burn up some of the spectators it passes by. Koto says that the spectators with weak demon energy are instantly being burned up.

The dragon crashes through the stadium's ceiling. Hiei leaps up and watches as the dragon pins Bui to one of the island's large cliffs. As Bui continues to grapple with the dragon, he thinks about that time again...

Toguro told him he can't beat him with just that. Bui charged anyway, ready to strike Toguro, but Toguro hit him first... resulting in his first ever loss.

Bui suddenly increases his battle aura, so much so that it sends the dragon away. Bui sees that he's done it, he's deflected the dragon, and sent it right back to Hiei! Hiei can only watch as the dragon looms over him and consumes him.

The dragon rises back up into the sky, as Bui returns to the shattered ring, He laughs and says he's beaten the techniques of the immolation fist. Koto comments that, incredibly, Bui has deflected the black dragon wave, and now Hiei has been swallowed up by it.

Most of the remaining spectators celebrate the fact that the Toguro team has won two in a row. Bui and Toguro briefly stare at each other, whilst Koto tells Juri to wake up and give them a decision. Juri gets up and sees the black dragon disappear, so she says that Hiei is unable to continue fighting.

She's about to declare Bui the winner, but there is suddenly a burst of energy behind Bui. After a few seconds, Hiei's outline can be seen.

The energy crashes back to the ground, and as it vanishes, Hiei appears. Hiei says this is what he wanted to show Bui. The Urameshi team are glad he's back.

Bui says this is impossible. Koto comments that Hiei is back in action, completely unscathed. Jorge tells Hiei to hang in there -and surprises Koto by suddenly being sat right next to her. Shizuru says this is where it begins -where Hiei shows them what he's truly made of.

Keiko says Hiei doesn't look that different, although the dragon on his arm has vanished. The spectators tell Bui to go for it, as they believe Hiei can't do anything. Kurama tells Yusuke that Hiei has devoured the black dragon wave. Hiei has become so strong that he has been able to contain and control the vast energy absorbed from the black dragon.

Hiei tells Bui to see this: the demon energy of one who has mastered the black dragon wave. The black dragon wave is not some simple projectile weapon, it's a nutritive that explosively raises the caster's demon energy. Bui thinks he should not be afraid -even if Hiei has mastered the black dragon wave, there's no way it can beat his battle aura. He goes on the attack, landing strike after strike on Hiei, but it's to no effect.

He stops and stares into Hiei's evil eye, which displays the dragon itself. Koto comments that Bui is hammering on Hiei, but Hiei isn't even flinching. Bui continues his attack, and throws Hiei high up into the air.

Bui jumps up and knees Hiei in the back, and then pins him into the ceiling. He pulls him out and throws him back down, giving him a kick on the way.

Hiei crashes onto the ring, but gets up, completely unharmed. Bui charges again, with his battle aura surrounding him, but Hiei stops his strike, and repels his battle aura. Bui falls to his knees.

Koto comments that Hiei has repelled Bui's battle aura, whilst Hiei asks Bui what's wrong -is he through already? Bui charges again, but Hiei prepares his own technique.

Bui gets hit by it, and it sent upwards, crashing through part of the ceiling. Hiei jumps up and gets behind him, and hits him with a punch that sends him flying back down.

He crashes into one of the stands, and Hiei jumps down to where he landed. Bui tells Hiei to kill him. He says that before, he fought and lost to Toguro... but there was still the possibility of him becoming stronger.

When Bui and Toguro fought, Toguro defeated him with one punch to the head. After his defeat, Bui trained himself harder than ever, over the prospect of getting to fight Toguro again.

But he says that Toguro became even stronger, and opened an overwhelming gap between their powers. And now, he has been completely beaten by Hiei as well. He says there's no longer any reason for him to live, but Hiei tells him that if he wants to die, he can do it himself.

Hiei jumps back onto the ring, just as Juri reaches 9 on her count. Hiei says he hates being dictated to, and Juri then reaches 10 on her count. She says the match is over, and Hiei is the victor.

Hiei heads back to his team, and Yusuke tells him that was awesome. Kuwabara thinks Hiei is invincible, and should go ahead and fight the rest of Toguro team himself. Hiei says he can't do that, as this technique of his also has a fatal flaw. In order to allow his extremely overworked spectral power and physical strength to recover, he needs to hibernate for a few hours. No matter how perfected the technique becomes, he can't do anything about this. Yusuke questions what he means by hibernate, whilst Kuwabara asks him if he's a bullfrog or something.

Hiei tells them to listen -he used this technique because he's put all of his faith into them. If he wakes up and finds out they've lost, he's really going to give it to them. He then collapses, and Yusuke laughs -can they believe this guy? He acts big right up until he falls flat! Kuwabara wonders if they should scribble something on him.

With overwhelming power, Hiei has defeated Bui. The Urameshi team now has one win and one loss. However, the battle is not yet over.
