Synopsis
Karasu is declared the winner of the first match -to the confusion of almost everyone in the stadium. A replay shows that Kurama was still down whilst using his final attack, and it did not kill Karasu until after the 10 count had been completed. There is nothing the Urameshi team can do about it, whilst elder Toguro reveals what his wish for winning is: to see all of the Urameshi team dead. He's about to fight next, but Bui steps in and heads onto the ring. Hiei tells Yusuke that he wanted to fight younger Toguro, but out of consideration for Genkai, he'll let Yusuke take him. He'll deal with Bui instead.
The fight begins, and Bui uses his ridiculous strength to rip entire blocks out of the ring, and throw them at Hiei. Hiei dodges them and then starts destroying them with his wicked king immolation purgatory scorch technique. Bui tries to attack with his axe, but Hiei destroys it by punching it. Bui summons another axe and throws it at Hiei, but Hiei destroys that as well. Bui removes his armor, admitting that Hiei isn't the kind of opponent he can beat whilst wearing it. He says he has only ever lost one battle before, and he hoped he would only need to remove his armor when he fought that man again. He states that the reason he wears his armor is because it suppresses his power, power he can't fully control. With his armor removed, Bui surrounds himself with a green battle aura. His aura is so strong that it allows him to levitate.
The battle resumes, with Bui and Hiei exchanging projectile attacks. Bui throws out his aura battle cross attack, which follows Hiei around the ring, but Hiei gets it to hit Bui himself. Bui crashes into the ring, but gets back up, completely unharmed. He tells Hiei to get serious. He has a short temper, and if Hiei is going to continue to act like this, he'll kill him before he can use his black dragon wave. Hiei tells him if he wants to see it so badly... he'll regret it. He starts removing the wrappings around his arm, which he had put on to suppress his own power. Has Hiei truly mastered the black dragon wave?
-In the manga, Yusuke does not confront Juri.
-In the manga, Koto only mentions she's watched a replay. The anime changed it so she and everyone else in the stadium watch the replay on a giant monitor.
-Toguro and Sakyo do not mention they've already killed the tournament puppet masters in the manga.
-Elder Toguro does not step onto the ring in the manga. In the anime, he gets on the ring, but then Bui decides to fight and walks by him.
-In the manga, Bui already has his axe ready when he walks onto the ring. In the anime, he summons it just before the fight starts.
-In the manga, Bui only rips out one ring block, and throws it so it deliberately lands just in front of Hiei. In the anime, this was changed so he rips out and throws several blocks, a few of which hit the spectators.
-Hiei does not use his
wicked king immolation purgatory scorch in the manga. He simply stops Bui's axe with the palm of his hand, and melts it. It does not get broken, nor does half of it get sent flying into the spectators like it does in the episode.
-Bui does not summon a second axe in the manga, he only does this in the anime.
-In the manga, Atsuko is the one who tells Hiei to hit Bui whilst he's removing his armor. In the anime, Jorge is the one who says it.
-The demons sat in front of Botan's group change colors between shots. The ones in front look different again during this shot.
