Synopsis
Bored at a diplomatic conference being held on Cybertron, Daniel heads off to find something to do. Grimlock follows him, and Daniel accidentally activates a hidden door. The two fall down a shaft, and enter a mysterious room filled with several pictures. Grimlock hits one of the pictures, causing it to glow. He and Daniel suddenly fall through a portal on the floor. Meanwhile, Carly is worried that Daniel has vanished. Blaster sends out Ramhorn and Steeljaw to find him.
Grinlock and Daniel are attacked by strange trees, which come to life. But the trees are suddenly defeated, as a cloaked man appears. He takes them back to the Red Wizard's castle and explains that the Red Wizard was taught his craft by the Golden One, the former ruler of Menonia. But the Golden One mysteriously vanished one day. The Red Wizard became the new ruler, but malconents of Menonia's races joined forces to try and overthrow the Red Wizard. In reality, the cloaked man is the Red Wizard -who trapped the Golden One in a cave and then began a reign of terror. Not telling Daniel of Grimlock who he really is, he has the sleeping Daniel taken away, whilst asking Grimlock for help in defeating his enemies. Meanwhile, the Autobots find the place Daniel and Grimlock went to. Rewind finds out that this place was used to dispose of Quintesson criminals, sending them to other dimensions. The group head to Menonia, although Perceptor remains behind to bring them back.
Daniel wakes up and finds he's in a cell. He also has a cellmate: a pupil of the Golden One. He tells Daniel about who he is and what happened to the Golden One. Menonia's forces then attack the Red Wizard's castle, but the pupil expects them to fail again and be driven off. As the battle cotninues, a shot destroys a wall, allowing Daniel and the pupil to escape.
They head to the cave where the Golden One was sealed away, but are unable to move the boulder blocking the entance. Steeljaw and Carly then find Daniel, and whilst Carly is glad to see Daniel is safe, Daniel realizes that the Autobots are helping the evil Red Wizard. Ramhorn charges into the boulder and smashes it to pieces, and the Golden One is freed. They head back to the castle, where the Golden One transforms into a dragon and attackes the Red Wizard. The Red Wizard changes form, revealing who he really is: a Quintesson. This Quintesson uses powerful magic, blasting the Autobots and the Golden One.
The Golden One says he could use a counter-spell, but his words will be too weak to be heard. Blaster transforms, and Ultra Magnus gives the Golden One a mic. The Golden One uses the counter-spell, channeling his energy through Blaster and hitting the Quintesson with it. The Quintesson is seemingly reduced to ash. The Golden One says they'll be ready should the Quintesson return. Perceptor then activates the portal, so the Golden One uses his powers to levitate the Autobots and send them back through it. Back where they belong, Spike wants to have a word with his son, but Daniel says it was an accident -honest! Grimlock says he's telling the truth, he didn't mean to get all dirty. This prompts Spike and Rodimus to laugh, although Grimlock doesn't see what's so funny.
-The Secret Files segment for this episode is about the Decepticons.
-The winged creature seen briefly near the start isn't named in the episode, but had the name of "Groyle" in the dialogue script.
-In Forever is a Long Time Coming, Ramhorn could speak English, but in this episode, he only grunts. Oddly, when Carly shows Steeljaw the cuff, Steeljaw grunts, but his mouth movements indicate he was supposed to have a line of dialogue to say here. This seems similar to how Ravage and Laserbeak were originally going to have dialogue in early first season episodes, but was replaced with grunts and animal noises instead.
-When the cloaked man starts saying the enemy is driven by hate, part of his cloak or beard isn't colored in -you can see the background behind it.
-Perceptor's face is colored the same as his helmet when Ultra Magnus orders him to stay.
-Grimlock's chest Autobot insignia is missing during this shot.
-Blaster is layered behind Ultra Magnus instead of in front during this shot, making him look huge.
