Synopsis
The Autobots protect a powerful new weapon, the Negavator, from a Decepticon attack. Despite Red Alert's protests, Inferno leaves him to join in the battle. The Decepticons eventually have to retreat, but Rumble fires one last shot which hits Red Alert and damages his logic circuits. The other Autobots find Red Alert, who accuses Inferno of betraying him and thinks he wants his job. Optimus Prime tells him to let Hoist check him out, but Red Alert says he's fine. The Autobots move out, taking the Negavator with them. They stop when a few rocks fall, but Red Alert gives the all clear. As the Autobots resume driving, they are ambushed by the Decepticons.
Smokescreen uses his smoke to cause some of the Decepticons to crash, including Starscream. Most of the Decepticons retreat, but Prime wants to know why Red Alert didn't warn them about the attack. This causes Red Alert to believe that Prime intends to get rid of him. He bashes some Autobots aside and heads into a nearby city. The other Autobots follow and try to find him, but he's disappeared. This is because Starscream has given Red Alert a place to hide. Starscream says that the other Decepticons left him behind, and knows how Red Alert feels -Megatron left him behind because he fears he'd make a better leader. Red Alert wonders maybe that's why the other Autobots are jealous of him. Starscream says if they had control of the Negavator, both Optimus and Megatron would be forced to admit their superiority. Red Alert thinks it would show Inferno and the others he'd just as good as they are -he'd be in charge!
As the Autobot's security director, Red Alert knows a few secrets, which allow him and Starscream to easily sneak into the place where the Negavator is being stored. They take the Negavator as some Autobots arrive to stop them. Red Alert fires a warning shot at them, but then Megatron and some Decepticons show up. Starscream betrays Red Alert, telling Megatron he was going to bring the Negavator to him. He then attacks Red Alert, hitting him with a null ray blast.
This seems to fix the damage to Red Alert's logic circuits. The Decepticons try to get him to use the Negavator against the Autobots, but he instead sets it to self destruct. The Decepticons withdraw, whilst most of the Autobots leave the complex. The Negavator explodes before Red Alert gets out, but he is saved by Inferno. Red Alert tells Prime he's feeling better, but is sorry. Prime tells him not to apologize, as it was his insistence on testing the Negavator that started their problems. They're just glad to have him back, and both he and Inferno have shown great bravery today. Red Alert says that with friends like these... real friends... it's easy to be brave.
