Grapple and Hoist team up with the Constructicons.

Synopsis

Grapple has invented a solar power tower, which he presents a model of to Optimus Prime. Optimus is impressed, but denies Grapple from building the real thing, as he hadn't thought of how to protect it from the Decepticons. They then receive a report from Teletraan 1 about Powerglide being shot down, so Grapple and Hoist go and find him. After repairing Powerglide, Grapple and Hoist head back to base. Grapple suggests to Hoist that the two of them build the tower. The Constructicons then appear, wanting to cooperate with the two Autobots and help them build the tower. They claim they no longer serve Megatron and will bring them proof that they want to work with them. The Constructicons then return to Decepticon HQ. Their meeting with the Autobots had been seen by Megatron and the other Decepticons, but they reveal that it was all a ruse -they intend to use the energy created from the tower to destroy the Autobots.

Megatron allows the Constructicons to go ahead, and gives them some energon cubes. The Constructicons take these cubes to Grapple and Hoist, telling them they stole them from Megatron. The two Autobots work with the Constructicons, and the solar power tower is constructed. Powerglide finds the tower and sees Grapple and Hoist are there, along with the Constructicons. He reports this to Optimus, who mobilizes a team and heads out to where the tower is. Meanwhile, the tower is completed, but as soon as it is, Grapple and Hoist get blasted out of commission.

Prime's group arrive and a battle takes place. The Constructicons form Devastator, but Smokescreen tricks him into kicking the tower. The other Autobots then all fire at Devastator, hitting him on his back and causing him to stumble forwards. He crashes through the tower, destroying it and causing him to break apart. Megatron orders them to retreat, whilst the Autobots dig through the tower wreckage to find Grapple and Hoist. They eventually find them and whilst Grapple and Hoist are ashamed of their actions, Prime accepts their apologies. He tells them to head back to base for repairs, then they are to return here to clean up the mess. As most of the Autobots return home, Grapple finds his model tower and tells Hoist it was magnificent, for a little while... wasn't it? Hoist says it was incredible... absolutely incredible.

-When this episode was originally broadcast, it was titled The Master Builders. However, on many (possibly all?) of the DVD sets, it's called The Master Builder. It's unknown why this happened, but the original title is the correct one.

Errors

-When Powerglide's lasers are shown hitting Skywarp, they're colored pink instead of yellow.
-The Constructicons state they admired Grapple's buildings on Cybertron, despite the fact that back in their debut they had only recently been built on Earth. This hints as a retcon, which will come around a little later on in this season.
-Prime's trailer is missing its Autobot insignia during this shot.
-When Cliffjumper walks up to Brawn, he's colored like Bumblebee.
-Hoist has separate eyes during this shot.
