Synopsis

Due to one of the plane's engines mysteriously exploding, the pilots are forced to crash land into the sea. Everybody survives, and they come across a large ship which has a name: "Strength". They board the ship and see that it is seemingly deserted, only finding an orangutan locked in a cage. They head back to the deck and then hear music playing inside the ship. They investigate and find Jean Pierre Polnareff waiting for them. Polnareff makes it clear that he's working for Dio, so Avdol challenges him to a Stand battle.

Polnareff reveals his Stand, Silver Chariot, which fights with Magician's Red. Despite being able to reflect the Stand's flames, Avdol uses the cross fire hurricane technique, which hits Silver Chariot and defeats it. However the attack actually only melts Silver Chariot's armor, and Polnareff is able to resume fighting. Without the armor, Silver Chariot is able to move at much greater speeds, so much so that it looks like there are multiples of the Stand. Avdol manages to defeat Polnareff by using a variation of the cross fire hurricane, which has flames blast out of the floor. Polnareff is defeated but is spared, but then the ship starts to attack the group, killing the two pilots. It is revealing that the entire ship is actually a Stand, and the orangutan, Forever, is its user.

Jotaro fights with Forever, but Polnareff is the one who kills the ape by attacking him from behind and slicing him in two. The Stand transforms into a much smaller boat, which the group use to head to India. Polnareff asks Joseph to remove his glove, wanting to see that his left hand isn't a right one. Joseph does so, and Polnareff says that his sister was murdered by a man with two right hands.

He had met Dio and made a deal with him -he was to kill Jotaro's group in exchange for information from Dio, who claimed to know who had killed his sister. He decides he'll join with Jotaro's group, believing that if they find Dio, he'll be able to find out more about the man he is looking for. He then starts to go on about how Egyptian women are so mysterious, prompting the rest of the group to question how Polnareff's mood can change so quickly. In Egypt, Enya tells Dio not to concern himself over Polnareff's betrayal. The Emperor and the Hanged Man are heading to India, and she is certain that the Hanged Man's user, J. Geil, will kill them all -as he is her son!

Manga Differences

-In the manga, Jotaro's group are on a commercial plane, where they encounter Gray Fly, and his Stand, Tower of Gray. Kakyoin defeats him, but the plane ends up crashing anyway due to Tower of Gray killing the pilots. In the episode, there is no enemy Stand encounter on the plane.

-Following the plane crash, Jotaro's group end up in Hong Kong in the manga, and they encounter Polnareff at a cafe. In the episode, they find him in the ship.

-Polnareff fights Avdol in the Tiger Balm Garden in the manga, whilst in the episode, they fight in the ship.

-In the manga, Polnareff has a flesh bud on him, which Jotaro removes. In the episode, Polnareff doesn't have a flesh bud.

-In the manga, whilst Polnareff's sister dies, her friend is only injured, and survives. In the episode, she is decapitated. This causes a plot hole, as in the manga, the friend is the one who tells Polnareff about the man with two right hands. As she dies in the episode, who told Polnareff?

-Polnareff's flashbacks are told when the group are at a dock in the manga. In the episode, they are told whilst the group are on a boat. They are also told after Strength has been dealt with in the episode, but are shown well before that in the manga.

-The flashback with Dio has him with a parrot on his shoulder, and he also uses a crystal ball. Neither of these things are in the episode.

-In the manga, Jotaro's group use a large boat to head to Singapore. There, they come across an unnamed stowaway (who would later be given the name of Anne in the 2014 anime series). This character doesn't appear in this episode.

- On the boat, they find out the Captain is an imposter, who has his own Stand, Dark Blue Moon. Jotaro fights and defeats the imposter Captain. This fight is not in the manga.

-After Dark Blue Moon's defeat, the manga has a scene with Dio and Enya. This scene is shown at the end of the episode, but a lot of dialogue from it was cut. Enya also disguises herself as a young woman in the episode, but she doesn't have this power in the manga.

-In the manga, the imposter Captain had set bombs on his boat, which explode and his defeat. Jotaro's group and the boat's crew board smaller boats, which set off and soon encounter Forever's ship.

-The ship they find in the manga is called "Big Daddy", whilst in the episode, it's called "Strength".

-In the manga, Forever offers Anne an apple, and then starts smoking and looking at porn magazines. He doesn't do any of these things in the episode.

-Forever spies on Anne taking a shower in the manga, at which point Jotaro turns up and starts fighting him. In the episode, Joseph, Kakyoin and Avdol are all present to witness the fight.

-The fight between Jotaro and Forever goes on for longer in the manga. At one point, Forever uses a book to point out the name of his Stand, and is also seen playing with a Rubik's cube. He doesn't do either of these things in the episode.

-In the manga, Jotaro defeats Forever by himself, and has Star Platinum punch him repeatedly. In the episode, Polnareff has Silver Chariot slice Forever in two.

Notes

-The orangutan is not actually named, and was not named in the manga either. However, in the Playstation port of Capcom's arcade JoJo fighting game, one screen lists his name as "Forever". Other media has also used this name.
