Synopsis
Dio can sense where Joseph is, and begins hunting him down. He enters a car after breaking the driver's arm, unaware (and not caring) that the car belongs to an American senator. Dio forces the senator to drive for him instead. Elsewhere, Jotaro fixes up his injuries, and thinks about how Dio is a worthy opponent for him. Meanwhile, Dio finds the truck Joseph and Kakyoin are in, and gets the senator to move in closer to them.
Kakyoin tries to attack the car with his Stand, but is suddenly attacked by Dio's Stand, the World. Joseph tries to lose their pursuers by driving through a level crossing, and whilst Dio's car crashes, he survives. He throws the senator at their truck, killing him and making Joseph crash. Joseph and Kakyoin survive and jump away, where Kakyoin says he has a plan to make Dio reveal the true nature of his Stand.
Dio goes after Joseph, but then gets caught in Hierophant Green's barrier. It has a 20 meter radius, and any time Dio touches one of the tentacles, he is shot at by projectiles. Kakyoin tells Dio he no longer fears him, and when Dio asks him to pledge loyalty, he refuses. Kakyoin tries to attack Dio with the emerald splash, but Dio uses his Stand's power, which enables him to stop time for several seconds. Dio and his Stand can move freely during this time, and Dio has the World hit Kakyoin with a critical blow. Time resumes, and Joseph suddenly sees Kakyoin flying backwards, not understanding what just happened. Dio then goes to Joseph, stating that he wants to suck his blood.
Dio is about to strike, but stops when a clock suddenly explodes. Kakyoin is the one who did this, but he dies moments later, hoping that Joseph understands his message. Joseph realizes that Kakyoin stopped the clock, and figures out Dio's time stop power. He tries to get away from Dio, but Dio chases after him and has the World knock him down to the street. As he gets up, Jotaro pulls up on a bike.
Joseph manages to tell Jotaro the secret of Dio's Stand, but is then suddenly hit in the throat by a knife. Dio had stopped time again, and was the one who threw the knife. Joseph falls, and tells Jotaro not to go near Dio and to keep his distance. But he then stops moving. Dio tells Jotaro that Kakyoin is dead too. He says Jotaro is the last one, but Jotaro starts walking towards him. Dio is surprised he's approaching him, is he ignoring his grandfather's last words? Jotaro tells him that if he doesn't get closer, he can't beat the crap out of him!
-Dio does not nearly get run over in the manga. He finds the car parked instead.
-The senator is not named in the episode, but in the manga he does have a name: Wilson Phillips.
-In the manga, Dio breaks the senator's front teeth out by pulling them, and then later breaks his nose. In the episode, Dio throws the senator to the front of the car, then kicks him in the face.
-The senator has a lengthy monologue about how great he is in the manga, which was sadly cut from the episode.
-In the manga, Jotaro and Polnareff are together at this point, and they steal a bike to go after Dio. In the episode, this was replaced with a scene of Jotaro fixing up his injuries and thinking about Dio.
-When the senator starts mowing down people, Waldo from Where's Waldo? makes a cameo as one of the people hit. This cameo isn't in the episode.
-In the manga, when the emerald splash is used, the vehicles are driving on a street. In the episode, they're on a bridge.
-When the World first appears, it hits Kakyoin's Stand from the front in the manga, and from behind in the episode.
-In the manga, the senator suddenly notices the car has been smashed up by the emerald splash, and doesn't understand what happened. Dio says it's a waste to explain it to him. This part isn't in the episode.
-In the manga, there is no train crash. Instead, Dio just has the car stop, and then throws the senator at Joseph and Kakyoin.
-The senator's corpse is much more gory in the episode than it is in the manga.
-When Kakyoin says he has a plan, he takes his sunglasses off in the manga. In the episode, he leaves them on.
-In the manga, Kakyoin has a monologue about how he couldn't make friends when he was a child, because of his Stand. This isn't in the episode.
-In the manga, Jotaro and Polnareff come across the car wreck, and see that Joseph, Kakyoin and Dio are above them. They then later see Dio chasing Joseph after Kakyoin's death. Neither of these scenes are in the episode.
-When Joseph falls to the ground, there are some people nearby who comment on him in the manga. There are people there in the episode, but they have no dialogue.
-Jotaro walks over to where Joseph is in the manga, whilst in the episode, he pulls up on a bike.
-Dio commits more violent acts during his run up to Joseph in the manga, including killing a cat and causing parts of its body to land on the plates of nearby diners, and making someone stab into the mouth of someone else with a fork.
