Synopsis

Hokushin says that eventually, he also wants to stop eating humans, but at the moment, he wants to have the strength to face his enemies. As he and the others leave, he says they'll be back in one week. He knows Yusuke probably wants to go to the Demon Realm, but there must be things he needs to take care of here first. Kuroko then steps out, and tells Yusuke he should go to the Demon Realm. She was surprised when she saw Yusuke so easily accepting that demons use humans for food. She then reveals that she was instructed by the Spirit Realm to kill Yusuke, but refused to do it. But now, she can't put as much faith in him as Genkai does, and is now worried that in time, her children will one day have to fight him. She wanted to be of help to him, but he and those three guys from earlier all have far greater power than she does -she can't offer him anything. Yusuke says he understands, and apologizes for barging in here. He walks off.

Before he leaves, Shogo appears and tells him the rest of his fortune: there will be a great parting between him and his comrades in arms, over blood. Elsewhere, Kurama is visited by three strangers, who give him a message ball from Lord Yomi. As they leave, Kurama watches the message. Yomi knows of Kurama, and says it has been a long time. He then says he has become one of the most powerful demons, and is on par with Raizen and Mukuro. He wants to unite the Demon Realm, and wants Kurama to come and help him. He also reveals that he has captured the demon who blinded him.

As the message ends, Hiei appears, revealing that he was also given a message. However, his was from Mukuro. The two watch Mukuro's message, where he states that Hiei has caught his attention, and wants him to become his right hand man. He knows that Raizen is on the verge of death, and when he dies, he intends to launch an all out offensive on Yomi. As the message ends, Hiei thinks Mukuro is an idiot, who talks too much. He says he'll go and see Mukuro, but doesn't plan on siding with him. Kurama thinks fighting all year round is the best way to quickly raise your fighting abilities, and if he sees Mukuro, he'll have no shortage of fights. Hiei says he'll make good use of Mukuro, and walks off. Elsewhere, Shizuru chews out her brother for sleeping instead of studying, and tells him to get serious with thinking about his future. As she leaves, Kuwabara thinks that he should get serious for once in his life, as maybe doing nothing but fighting will ruin him.

The next day, Yusuke explains to Keiko that he will be going to the Demon Realm, and isn't sure when he will return. Keiko says she is going to apply for an all girls school, and it'll be next to a boy's school -when Yusuke gets back, she'll introduce him to her new boyfriend. As she heads back home, Yusuke goes after her, and says that he will be back in three years. When he comes back, he asks if she'll marry him. Keiko thinks he has no integrity to ask that after being dumped, whilst her father thinks Yusuke would always propose to her after they'd had a fight. As Keiko heads up to her room, she watches Yusuke leave, and thinks about the three years. Yusuke waves to her, as he heads off back home.

Manga differences

-In the manga, Hokushin and the others seem to just walk off, whilst in the anime, they are each surrounded by fire, and then vanish.

-A demon slave trader is shown giving Hiei the message ball in the manga. This isn't shown in the anime.

-In the manga, when Yusuke and Keiko are on the hill, Yusuke is about to eat a chocolate stick, but Keiko snatches it from him and eats it herself (she doesn't like it). This was cut from the anime.

-Kurama takes his message to his school, and watches it there in the manga. In the anime, he watches it under a train track.

-The scene with Kuwabara and Shizuru is not in the manga.

-In the manga, there are a couple of other people eating in Keiko's restaurant. In the anime, there isn't anyone other than Yusuke.

-Keiko's mother is present in the manga, but isn't there in the anime.
