Synopsis

Having heard what Kurama says Yusuke intends to do, Kuwabara is in despair. He keeps yelling for Urameshi to not do this, and thinks back to the fights they used to have. Hiei and Kurama want Itsuki to let them go, so they, along with Kuwabara, can assist Yusuke. Itsuki refuses, telling them that if they work together, they may be able to escape with Yusuke. He thinks they could carry off Urameshi and run away, whilst blocking Shinobu's attacks. Mitarai reminds Kuwabara about the ability he used against him, which let him cut through a dimension. Kuwabara attempts to summon his dimensional sword, but fails.

Sensui resumes attacking Yusuke. Kuwabara wonders why he can't summon the sword, but after remembering everything he and Yusuke have been through together, he is finally able to summon his dimensional blade. Itsuki notices this, and yells for Shinobu to hurry and finish Yusuke off now.

Kuwabara strikes Itsuki, which also damages the Reverse Man. He, along with Hiei, Kurama and Mitarai, are able to escape, just in time to see Sensui about to land a final strike on Yusuke. Elsewhere, Keiko suddenly notices that something is wrong with Puu, as he won't respond. Back in the cave, Sensui hits Yusuke, killing him.

As Botan arrives in the Spirit Realm, she suddenly nearly falls off her oar. As she lands, she wonders what's wrong with herself. She then has a vision of Yusuke, and realizes something is very wrong. Back in the cave, Hiei, Kuwabara and Kurama stare at Yusuke's body. Kuwabara thinks Urameshi is pretending to be dead, but after finding out he doesn't have a heartbeat, he realizes he truly is gone. Sensui tells them that the movie is now over. He got so caught up in the fight, that he missed the chance to listen to the ending, and it had such a beautiful requiem -it would have been perfect for Urameshi. He then tells them that Urameshi may be dead, but there's no need for them to miss him, as they'll be following him. As the tunnel to the Demon Realm cracks open, he says the real finale is just getting started...

Manga differences

-In the manga, Mitarai does not talk to Kuwabara about the dimensional sword.

-Kuwabara summons his dimensional sword right after Hiei tell Itsuki he's really something else. In the anime, a new sequence was added, where Kuwabara remembers some of the past adventures he and Yusuke have been through.

-In the manga, Keiko visits Atsuko, and finds her sitting down outside the front door to her apartment. Atsuko is holding Puu, and tells Keiko that she can't wake him up. In the anime, this scene was cut, replaced with a new scene where Shizuru and Keiko are at the top of some random building. Keiko is the one who realizes something is wrong with Puu.
