Synopsis
As Amanuma selects the next game, he tells them that once the tunnel to the Demon Realm is opened, he'll release them. Kurama works out something, and tells Yusuke that Amanuma doesn't realize the terror of his own ability, or the fact that Sensui is using him. The next game will be a puzzle game called Three Seven, where blocks with numbers on them fall from the top of the screen. Players must get the blocks to add up to seven either up or down or sideways, and they can only be erased by lining up three in a row. Once the blocks reach the top of the screen, you lose. Before the game starts, Kurama asks Amanuma if he really understands what Sensui's plan is. Amanuma says he does, and that a bunch of demons will come to cause mayhem -the best part for him is, no more school! He'll be safe in his territory, as no demon will be able to beat him at one of his games. Kurama bluntly tells him that if he loses the game they are about to play, he will die.
Amanuma thinks he's just trying to unnerve him, but Kurama reminds him of the ending to Game Battler: the Game King, which is the character Amanuma is playing as, dies. Amanuma's ability will faithfully create the ending to the game. Kurama finds out from Amanuma that this is the first time he's used his ability with Game Battler, because Sensui had previously told him not to use it with games where characters die. Kurama says that Sensui has sacrificed Amanuma to attain his objective. Amanuma doesn't know what to say, but then the game starts. Amanuma starts making mistakes, as he starts to panic over the situation he's now in. Genkai says Sensui knew Amanuma wouldn't work it out, but was counting on Yusuke's group to realize it, thinking they would not let Amanuma die. However, Kurama is going to defeat him, in order to protect the Human Realm. As the game goes on, Amanuma thinks back to when he first met Sensui, and how he told him of his plans, and how he would play a part in them.
He tries to believe that Sensui hasn't set him up, but then remembers that Sensui was the one who gave him the Game Battler cartridge, and told him to use it against Urameshi. He asks Kurama if there is a way out of this, but as he can't dissolve his territory once a game has started, there is nothing anyone can do. He screams that he doesn't want to die, as he then loses the game. The game states the Game King has been defeated, at which point Amanuma dies.
Nearby, Sensui and the others realize Amanuma must have been defeated. Amanuma's territory explodes into nothing, and the group find that it was a game console Amanuma used his ability on to create the illusion. Yusuke asks Kurama if he's alright, but Kurama just tells him that they must hurry on to where Sensui is. He, Yusuke, Hiei and Mitarai head further into the cave, whilst Genkai, Kaito and Yana head back, taking Amanuma's body with them.
Keiko and Shizuru arrive in Mushiyori City, and see that the clouds -along with numerous demon insects -are gone. But Shizuru says she has a unpleasant feeling about all of this. As they head off, a news report on TV states that Kamiya has escaped from jail. Back at the entrance to the cave, Koenma appears, and tells Botan he's going in to where Yusuke is. He also reveals he's had his father's permission to take out his pacifier if needed. He then tells her that the hole will be opened in two hours time, and if that happens, there will be an earthquake. If that happens, he tells her to fly to the Spirit Realm immediately, and let his father know. Inside the cave, Yusuke's group arrive to the place where Sensui and the others are. Sensui welcomes them to the entrance of the Demon Realm.
-In the manga, Hiei mentions he's tried to raise his flames in Amanuma's territory, but can't do it. This is not in the anime, however a new scene of him trying to destroy the game was seen in the previous episode.
-In the manga, Amanuma's territory does not explode into nothing like it does in the anime.
-The scene where Sensui tells Gourmet to shut Kuwabara up isn't in the manga.
-The scene with Keiko and Shizuru isn't in the manga, although the report about Kamiya's escape is mentioned.
-Amanuma's game console resembles a Super Famicom, whilst the Game Battler cartridge resembles a Japanese Mega Drive game cartridge.
