Synopsis
The next game is selected: a shooting game called Battle Heli. Genkai plays it, and proves to be an ace, managing to take out a fleet of battleships, an enemy base, and the boss without losing a life, or even taking a single hit. With another game won, Yusuke goes to play the third game: Dark Martial Arts. It's a fighting game, which Yusuke thinks he'll be good at.
He loses his first player when he fails to attack his opponents correctly, but Genkai gives him a tip on what to do. He defeats his opponents, and then takes down the boss, which results in his group winning the third game.
Amanuma, as the Game King, then starts to play. The next game is a general knowledge quiz, and he faces Kaito as his opponent. The first question starts to be read out, but Kaito answers it before the text full appears on the screen. Kaito reveals that he's memorized all 17,000 questions and all of their answers, and is able to correctly answer before all of the text for a question appears. Meanwhile, in the Spirit Realm, Koenma is given permission by his father for what he requested, and heads back to the Human Realm.
Back on Earth, Kaito gets five questions right in a row. Amanuma then says he's figured something out, and for the sixth question, he answers before any part of the question is even read out. He gets it right, and reveals that he's been waiting until he could figure out the algorithm was. Kaito says that's impossible, as the order of the quiz questions and answers are all supposed to be randomized. Amanuma tells him they may look mixed up, but there's actually a rule to it. It takes about five questions to figure out what the algorithm is. Amanuma then correctly answers the next question in the same manner, at which point Hiei tries attacking the game itself. He seems to destroy it...
...but in reality, he's done nothing to it. The game continues, and Kaito ends up losing. However he is not punished for losing in any way, and Amanuma just seems to be enjoying playing it. Kurama thinks they they could probably lose this game over and over, and nothing will happen to them. But if they give up, they'll all die. In the real game, once the heroes lose, the game over screen appears, and players have the choice to either continue or give up. If you continue, you have to restart the game from the beginning. If you give up, a screen appears with "The End" text on it, and images of the graves of the heroes are shown in the background. Kurama says Amanuma was never after their lives in the first place, his goal is to simply buy time, until the boundary tunnel is open. Amanuma says that's right, and tells them once the time comes, he'll dispel his territory straight away. Elsewhere in the cave, Itsuki says the hole will take two more hours to open. Kuwabara yells for Urameshi to hurry up and get in here. Only two hours remain before the boundary tunnel is complete -will Yusuke and the others be able to defeat Amanuma and put a stop to Sensui's scheme before then?
-In the manga, Genkai's game is barely shown at all. Other than the genie (who looks different to the one seen in the episode), you don't get to actually see any of the Battle Heli game. The anime put a new scene in, showing Genkai having to blow up battleships, destroy a base, and then finally have a helicopter duel to finish things off.
-In the manga, Yana uses his ability to copy Kaito, and easily wins a puzzle game.
In the anime, this was removed, and replaced with Yusuke having to play a fighting game.
-The scene with Koenma in this episode was not in the manga.
-In the manga, Hiei does not try to destroy the game, like he does in the anime.
