Having made their way into Irima cave, Yusuke and the others were held up by the Gamemaster, Amanuma. Within his territory, one must beat his games. However, with only one more win to go, Amanuma stepped forward to play, and his abilities were truly overwhelming. Two hours remained until the boundary tunnel would be completed. Will Yusuke and the others be able to escape from this territory before then?

The Remaining Measure!
Kurama's Resolve

Amanuma asks the group if they should go onto the next game. He tells them that he intends to have them play games with him until the tunnel to the Demon Realm is opened. Yusuke sees that this kid's objective was to just buy time all along, which is why he's so casually enjoying these games. Amanuma even says that once the tunnel is open, he'll lose on purpose, and he'll release his territory. Yusuke wonders if there's any other way out of this, but Hiei says it's useless. He reminds him he tried slashing the game, and nothing happened. It's just like what happened when he tried the same thing in Kaito's territory. And since that's the case, Hiei says he has no part to play here, and tells them to wake him when it's over.

Yusuke asks Kurama if there's any chance of him winning the next game. Kurama says he doesn't know, but if things go the way he imagines they will, he'll have a heavy heart over beating Amanuma. Yusuke asks what he means, and Kurama explains that Amanuma's ability is to make the game a life-size experience. If, like in the real game, they decide to give up, it would cause them all to die. But as long as they keep continuing the game, it doesn't matter. Which means that, inside this territory, each person ends up the way they would at the end of the game. He says that Amanuma doesn't realize the terror of his own ability, and he also doesn't understand that Sensui is just using him.

The next game is then chosen: a puzzle game called Three Seven, on the level G setting. Amanuma wonders who's up next, and then sees that one of the remaining people has fallen asleep. Kurama says he will play, and steps forward. Yana asks what kind of game Three Seven is. Kaito says it's like Tetris or Puyo Puyo, but with a twist.

The blocks that drop down have numbers from 0 through to 7 on them, in various combinations. When you get them to add up to seven, either up and down or sideways, they disappear. But just as the name of the game states, you can only erase 7s by lining three of them up in a a row. The numbers keep falling faster and faster, and if the blocks get stacked up to the top of the screen, you lose.

Yana says his head hurts just hearing Kaito explain it. Kaito says the outcome of the game is controlled by how much experience and concentration you have. You can end up playing for hours once you get the hang of it, and he thinks Kurama is thinking of using a little psychological warfare. His victory or defeat depends on how much of his opponent's concentration he can take from him. As Kurama and Amanuma wait next to their controls, Kurama asks him a question: was it Sensui who told him to use Game Battler to compete against them?

Amanuma says he was, and he said that this game would be the most appropriate as a decisive battle. Kurama then asks if Amanuma understands what Sensui is trying to do. Amanuma says he sure does -demons are going to come out of the Demon Realm, and cause all kinds of mayhem. He thinks it sounds like fun, as it means no more school. As long as he stays inside his territory, he can relax. No demon can beat him at any game, after all! Kurama bluntly tells him that if he loses at this game...

...he will die. He asks Amanuma if he knew that, but Amanuma thinks he's just trying to make him uneasy, to make him lose the game. He says he won't fall for such a lie.

Kurama tells him he must have seen the ending to Game Battler. When the Game King loses, it clearly states on the screen that he has died.

Kurama tells him that his ability will faithfully recreate the end of the game. He thinks it's safe to say this is the first time he has used his ability on Game Battler. Amanuma says it's true, but this game requires seven people to play -no other game would have worked! Kurama tells him he's never used his ability on any game that hinted at dying, either at the end or during gameplay. He thinks Sensui would have stopped him from doing so. Amanuma realizes that's true, and thinks about what Sensui told him once before: he said that games involving taking lives consume an unusually large amount of his physical and mental strength. He also said that until such a critical time comes that he orders him to do so, he must not use his ability that way.

Yusuke reminds Kurama that earlier, Amanuma said he has no interest in taking their lives. He doesn't believe that Amanuma would be risking his life over this game. Kurama says that Amanuma didn't intend for this, however Sensui did. He says that Sensui has sacrificed Amanuma to attain his objective. Amanuma doesn't know what to say, but then the game starts.

As the blocks start to drop, Yusuke thinks that as long as they don't give up, they can continue as many times as they want, but if Amanuma loses just once, he dies. Sensui knew this as well. Genkai says that Amanuma didn't know this, and Sensui didn't tell him intentionally. She also knows that Sensui counted on them to realize this -he must believe they won't be able to kill Amanuma, since he was just being used.

But she believes Kurama will defeat Amanuma, and it's why he told him about the truth of the matter -in order to agitate him. They have no time left, and in order to protect the Human Realm, Kurama decided on the cruelest method there was -or rather, he has no choice but to do what he did. Amanuma continues playing, but he is also thinking about the idea that Sensui has sacrificed him... he's sure it can't be...

He remembers when he first met Sensui: at a game center. Sensui came over and told him how good he was at these games, and asked if he could play him. The two played, and later on, they walked off. Amanuma told Sensui he was amazed someone could compete with him at that game. Sensui asked him if he liked games that much, and Amanuma told him there's nothing else that's fun to do. He said all of his friends were idiots. Later on, they went to a restaurant, and Sensui told him of something that's even more fun than games. Amanuma wanted to know what it was, and Sensui said he'd tell him once they knew each other better.

Later, Sensui told him that he was going to turn the world upside down, and he needed his abilities in order to do so. Amanuma said he may be smart, but he doesn't have any supernatural powers or anything. Sensui told him his powers would soon be awakened. Together, they'd make this dull world more interesting! Between his idiot parents, teachers and classmates, he must be pretty fed up. Back in the present, Amanuma thinks that it's true that at the end of Game Battler, the spirit of the Game King gets called up to Heaven. But he thinks how Sensui could sacrifice him through this game, and still believes it can't be the case.

He then makes a mistake on the game he's playing. He thinks that his ability was just to take video games and make them a real, life-size experience... that's what he thought. He then recalls Sensui telling him to fight Urameshi and the others using Game Battler, and giving him the cartridge. He told him it was the most suitable game for him, and with it, Urameshi's group didn't stand a chance. Back in the present, the game continues, but Amanuma is clearly losing. Amanuma starts panicking, and wonders what he can do.

He continues making mistakes, and asks Kurama if there is anything he can do. Kurama tells him if there is any way he can dissolve his territory in the middle of a game. Amanuma says he can't, once he becomes a character in the game, one of them has to lose. Kurama tells him he has no intention of losing.

He then tells Amanuma he knew what Sensui's plan was, so it's not as if he doesn't bear any responsibility for this. Amanuma says he didn't think it was going to turn out like this, and starts making more and more mistakes. He screams that he doesn't want to die yet.

However he then loses the game, which results in the Game King's defeat -and the end of Amanuma's life.

Suddenly the entire room starts to shake, and then explodes, as Amanuma's territory rips itself apart. Kuwabara hears the noise, and Gourmet says Amanuma must have lost. Kuwabara tells him not to underestimate Urameshi.

He yells at Sensui, telling him his evil schemes are no better off than a candle in the wind. Sensui tells Makihara to shut Kuwabara up, as he can't hear what they're saying in the movie he's watching. Gourmet kicks Kuwabara down, and then gags him.

As Yusuke's group get back up, they see that the cave has returned to normal. Genkai says that when Amanuma died, his territory dissolved. They see the games console that Amanuma's ability used to create the illusion.

Yusuke is about to speak to Kurama, but then sees the look on his face. Kurama tells them to hurry on to where Sensui is, and walks onward.

Genkai tells Yana and Kaito that they'll head back to the city, and monitor from there. Kaito picks up Amanuma's body, and he, Yana and Genkai head back the way they came. Yusuke, Kurama, Hiei and Mitarai head further into the cave.

The people were unaware that Demon Realm insects and lower-class demons were inundating the city. Further, they did not know that these evil creatures disappeared all in an instant, as if they were afraid of something. It was the calm before the storm...

Shizuru and Keiko arrive in Mushiyori City. Keiko asked Shizuru to come here with her, because she was worried about Yusuke. Keiko then notices that the sky has cleared up, but Shizuru says just as the clouds cleared, all of the nasty creatures covering the city also disappeared. Keiko thinks this means Yusuke and the others must have taken care of Sensui, but Shizuru isn't so sure. She has a really unpleasant feeling about all of this.

As they walk off, there is a news report on a TV in the store they were standing next to: police have still found no trace of Kamiya, a suspect in a serial murder case, who escaped from a Tokyo jail several days ago. Back outside the cave, Botan notices the thunderclouds that were covering the city have cleared up. She takes this as a sign that Yusuke and the others have defeated Sensui, and starts to celebrate. However, Koenma then appears, and tells her that's not the case.

He says that the spatial distortion has entered a period of stability. In another two hours, it will reach its final phase. He says he'd returned to the Spirit Realm, to ask for his father's permission. Botan asks him what he needed permission for, and he tells her that if the worst should happen, he will remove his pacifier. He says he's going to where Yusuke is, and asks Botan to wait here a little longer. He tells her that, if in two hours time there is an earthquake, that's the signal that the hole is completely open. If that happens, she is to immediately fly to the Spirit Realm, and tell his father.

Koenma then heads off into the cave. Botan thinks that Koenma is finally going to remove his pacifier, and when he does... she realizes she doesn't even know what will happen! Back in the cave, Yusuke asks Hiei if Kurama is alright. Hiei is amused at the thought of Yusuke being worried about him, but Yusuke just hopes he hasn't snapped and doesn't do anything strange.

Mitarai says that about 50 meters ahead, there is a big left turn. That's where the center of the boundary tunnel is. The group head in, and enter the area where Sensui and the others are. They see that Sensui and Itsuki are on dry land, whilst Kuwabara and Gourmet are sat in a small boat.

Above them is the nearly completed hole, which is swarming with lower class demons. Sensui tells them it's a fine spectacle, as the destruction of the revolting species known as humanity begins here. He tells them they're fortunate to have come here to such a monumental place, as they'll get to witness such an important, historical event -assuming they survive, that is. He welcomes them to the entrance of the Demon Realm.

Finally, Yusuke and the others have arrived at the center of the boundary tunnel. Will they be able to get Kuwabara back, and put a halt to Sensui's schemes? Nobody yet knows what true abilities Sensui is still hiding...
