To bring down Gamemaster Amanuma's territory, it would mean his death. Amanuma was being used as a tactic by Sensui. However, if the hole to the Demon Realm was completed, the Human Realm would be destroyed. Kurama used the cruelest method available to him, killing Amanuma. Following that, Yusuke and the others finally arrived at the enemy's hideout.
Kurama's Fury!
Who is That, Really?!
Everyone sees the hole, which starts to crack. Yusuke thinks on the other side of it lies the true Demon Realm. Hiei tells him he'd do well not to associate what lies ahead with the place where Labyrinthine Castle was. Ordinary humans would pass away just by inhaling the polluted winds of the Demon Realm.
Sensui is watching his movie, and says this is the good part. It'll be over in about thirty minutes. The story is so cliched, and the theme seems to be slaughter in the name of love for humanity. As he gets up, he says the ending does feature a very pretty song. Once the song is played, the tunnel will be complete. Yusuke realizes they only have thirty minutes left.
Mitarai notices that Itsuki is now standing up. He was supposed to be sitting in that boat the entire time, at the place where Kuwabara now is. Itsuki tells them that the hole is now out of his hands, and that in time, it'll open on its own. He can no longer stop it.
The hands of some demons start to break through the hole, and their voices can be heard: they want human flesh! Sensui says that the demons there are C class, who only think with their stomachs.
Outside, Botan sees Genkai's group come back. She asks what happened, and Yana explains that they managed to get clear through most of the way. Kaito says Urameshi and the others are on their way to where Sensui is. Botan notices the dead child he's carrying, but doesn't asks any questions. Instead, she says that Koenma went in after Yusuke. Genkai says they passed him on the way. Botan tells her that Koenma said if the situation got bad enough, he'd remove his pacifier. Genkai acts surprised by this, but when Botan asks what will happen, she says she doesn't know.
Back in the cave, a demon grabs onto Kuwabara. Sensui tells the demons that in time, they'll be able to enter this world freely. He tells them to behave themselves for a little while, and fires a projectile at them. The demons back off.
Sensui says that C class demons are nothing, but once they get to B class, they develop what you'd call a higher intellect and a sense of reason. And once you go even higher, there are even those who have been told about and revered in religion as Gods and mythological beasts within the Human Realm. They are the A class demons, and he's sure they're watching this hole open calmly somewhere in the Demon Realm, waiting for their opportunity. Yusuke says he won't allow any kind of demons to enter the Human Realm.
Sensui tells them that very soon, they'll become witnesses to a historical event. They'll be able to see creatures of legend that everyone knows about, but no one has ever seen. Kuwabara says he doesn't want to see them. Sensui says A class demons are the true idols to be worshipped, not foreign celebrities or sports figures. Yusuke asks him if he'll shut up already, and tells him his words make him want to puke.
Sensui calls out to Makihara, who leaps off the boat. Mitarai tells the others that Makihara is Gourmet. Sensui tells them that if they can defeat Makihara, he'll return Kuwabara to them. Yusuke's group are surprised at this offer, and Sensui says he could use Kuwabara as a shield and put a stop to their actions.
Itsuki thinks Sensui has stopped the group psychologically by offering them a chance. It'll be easier to read their actions this way, rather than him provoking them by threatening to kill Kuwabara. As Gourmet steps forward, Kurama tells Yusuke not to trust Sensui. He says they'll find an opening, and take Kuwabara back -but act like he trusts Sensui for now. Yusuke is relieved that Kurama has kept himself together after what happened with Amanuma.
As Gourmet approaches, he tells Mitarai that his head is full of thoughts about how to rescue Kuwabara. But if he tries anything funny, Sensui may change his mind. Mitarai realizes he can somehow read his thoughts.
Gourmet then asks Kurama if he's really that upset over killing Amanuma. He tells him the truth is, he's furious over what he's done. Yusuke thinks it's like Gourmet can read their minds... and then realizes what that means.
Gourmet tells him what he thinks is right -he swallowed Murota, and gained his mind-reading ability. He trapped Murota down a street, and ate him whole. Yusuke is about to fight him, but Kurama stops him.
He says he'll take care of this guy. He walks forward, but Yusuke wonders if he'll have any chance of defeating Gourmet -as Gourmet can now tell what his opponent is thinking. Kurama takes out a rose, and waits.
Gourmet realizes he can no longer read Kurama's mind, as his inner voice has stopped speaking. Kurama then suddenly wraps his rose whip around Gourmet's head, and splits it apart.
Gourmet staggers over backwards, dead. But Kurama tells him to stop this act, and get up. The only stench coming out of that body now is from elder Toguro. Gourmet's body stands back up, as Toguro's head bursts out of it.
Toguro tells Kurama that was nicely done -his nose has become sharper than before. Mitarai says that Makihara's consciousness was taken by him. Toguro says that's right, he took Gourmet over, territory and all.
Toguro explains that, after his brother smashed him, he started to regenerate little by little whilst drifting out at sea. The only thing he thought about was getting revenge against them all. He eventually drifted back onto Kubikukuri Island, where he started continuously sending out a signal on a special wavelength. It was a signal only someone steeped in both strength and wickedness could pick up. He thought he would have to wait for several years, but someone showed up right away: Sensui.
Sensui says that once he heard about what Yusuke had been doing, he felt a strange attachment to him. That feeling became a conviction, and he decided that now was the time to put his plan into action: he would kill everyone! Toguro says Gourmet was one of the men among those with abilities that Sensui had brought together. He says Gourmet's ability was pretty nasty -something he knows well, since he himself was eaten by him.
What Gourmet wasn't expecting was how tough Toguro was. Once he'd eaten him, he knew something was wrong. Toguro says he had a lot of fun living in collaboration with him, especially when he realized he was being taken over -it felt so good experiencing his terror.
Kurama tells him that's enough -he's going to finish this. Toguro laughs, and says this'll be interesting. He also warns him that he's not the same person as he was before, as now he can regenerate himself endlessly, and is able to absorb any ability -he's invincible!
He calls Kurama's abilities puny, and charges towards him. But as he does, Kurama releases some kind of smoke.
The smoke completely covers both of them. Yusuke wonders what's going on, but soon he or anyone else can't see either Kurama or Toguro. Inside the smoke Toguro thinks what Kurama is doing is useless. He can use Murota's ability to find him. Earlier, Kurama's inner voice was silent, but now he can hear it -he knows what Kurama is planning to do.
He reads Kurama's mind, and finds out he plans to hide in the smoke, and then move in closer via his scent. Toguro finds out exactly where Kurama is, and turns around. He runs forward and stabs right through him!
Kurama asks him if he just did something. Toguro doesn't understand why he's still standing, but tells him to stop acting so tough. He starts repeatedly swiping at Kurama, before stabbing through him again. But for some reason, Kurama just won't die.
Outside the smoke, Yusuke is concerned at the fact that all he can hear is Toguro's voice. He's about to intervene, but Hiei tells him to wait, and points out that Kurama is over there. Kurama steps out of the smoke, and hasn't been injured in any way. Kurama says it's all over, but everyone can still hear Toguro inside the smoke. Yusuke wonders who Toguro is now fighting with.
The smoke clears away, revealing that Toguro isn't moving any more, and a tree has latched onto him. Toguro keeps screaming about the fact that Kurama won't die. Kurama tells them the name of this tree:
Tree of Depravity
He explains that it lures its prey in by showing it hallucinations, and then lives off of it. In other words, Toguro now thinks the tree is Kurama, and is trying to attack it. Yusuke asks him how he managed to do it, and Kurama tells him it was right at the start of the fight -when he beheaded Makihara, he planted the seed then. The smokescreen was to shield the tree's hallucinations from leaking out. Sensui calls Kurama a man of unusual talents. Itsuki thinks that despite the look in Kurama's eyes, deep within his heart lies an unfathomable baggage of affection and carnage... it's no wonder something like Murota's ability couldn't read into the depths of his mind.
Kurama says the tree won't release its prey until it dies, but since elder Toguro keeps regenerating, he's unable to die. So Toguro will be fighting the illusion for eternity. He tells Toguro he is not worthy of death.
Kurama's fury set his desire for vengeance aflame, and he beat elder Toguro. However, the hole to the Demon Realm will be completed in a short time...
