Synopsis
Kurama's group -which consists of himself, Kaito, Botan and Kuwabara -arrive at the place where the center of the hole is supposed to be. However, they don't find anything of interest, and believe the hole must be underground. Kurama also senses that are being watched. Yusuke's group -which is him, Genkai, Kido and Yana -walk through the streets, and can see Makai insects everywhere. They then sense someone's territory, and head down into a cafe. There, they find a guy called Murota, who knows they want to speak to him. He also knows that they've been thinking about something called a boundary tunnel.
Not sure if he can read minds or not, Kido decides to challenge him. He tries to step on his shadow, but Murota jumps back to avoid him and then batters him with punches. Murota says he intends to become a boxer and use his mind-reading ability to help him win. Yusuke decides to fight him next, and tells him exactly how he's going to attack: charge forward and use a right straight. Murota reads his mind anyway, but Yusuke is thinking what he said before. Yusuke attacks, but he's far too fast for Murota to handle, and gets knocked out with one punch. Yana uses his copy ability on Murota, and finds out that he has nothing to do with their enemies.
They get Murota to try and find someone who has strange thoughts, and he eventually reads the mind of someone who wants to kill everyone. Murota says it's the tall man wearing black clothes. This man is Sensui, who suddenly stops and stares at the group. As soon as he does this, Murota gets hit in the head by a bullet.
Murota survives, and Yusuke's group head to a hospital. Genkai reveals that the bullet that hit Murota was just a piece of pencil eraser. As the ambulance they are in drives on, Puu is seen flying after it -and Keiko and Shizuru follow Puu. Elsewhere, Sensui meets up with Sniper, and tells him he believes the one they are looking for -someone who can cut through the peripheral field -may be among Yusuke's allies. He'll make sure they find them, whilst he's dealing with those who get in their way. They'll dig a grave for all people... the seven of them will dig the hole.
At this hospital, Murota is conscious and says he can hear what Sensui is saying: they'll dig a grave for all people, and the seven of them will dig the hole. Dark Angel, Gatekeeper, Sniper, Gourmet, Gamemaster, Doctor and Seaman -those are the names of the seven. Yusuke says he didn't go after the guy who stared at them, as he felt something very dangerous about him. Genkai says he was the type who wouldn't show off his own power unless it was to finish off his opponent, a theory backed up by the fact that he wasn't the one who shot Murota. She reveals that someone else did it, and the sniper was able to fire from over 500 meters away, having made the eraser bullet as hard as a BB gun shot. Murota says he doesn't want to die, but as he says this, nobody realizes that one of the doctors is watching them.
-In the manga Kido has some additional dialogue where after saying how his city is run-down. He tells Yusuke he now feels driven to defend it. This dialogue was cut from the anime.
-The manga also has Yusuke and Genkai have some extra dialogue where Yusuke hopes Kurama's group is ok, and Genkai says because Kurama is leading them, she has no worries. This dialogue was cut from the anime.
-The part in the anime where Kurama senses someone watching them, and running off to check a place only to find it empty, is not in the manga.
-In the manga, the place Murota is in is a mahjong club. He's seen playing and easily winning against three other guys, who all leave. In the anime, it appears the place is just a cafe, and Murota is sat by himself, reading a magazine.
-In the manga, the two staff members are both men. In the anime, the manager is a man, but the other staff member was changed to a woman.
-In the manga, Murota falls down immediately after Yusuke's attack. In the anime, he gets sent flying into a wall.
-The scene between Sensui and Sniper happens later on in the manga -it's shown after Genkai says the sniper must have been over 500 meters away. In the anime it's shown earlier.
-The scene in the ambulance isn't in the manga.
-The scene with Keiko, Shizuru and Puu isn't in the manga.
