On Kubikukuri Island, the stadium is in ruins. At the shore, a hand grabs onto a rock.
Elder Toguro has survived, and pulls himself up. But as he does, he sees that he's not alone. A man sees him, and walks towards him.
A New Prologue
In the Spirit Realm, Koenma is busy approving all the documents which got piled up during his absence. Jorge then comes barging in, and slams a report down on his desk. In doing so, he causes all of Koenma's documents to fall over, resulting in the to Hells and to Heavens getting mixed together. Koenma is not very happy.
Elsewhere, Botan, Ayame and another Spirit Realm guide are talking. The other guide says she's taken twenty people to Spirit Realm this month, and she's at her happiest when she's telling boys who are her type that they've just died! Botan then gets summoned by Koenma. She goes to him, and he says that he's had a report stating that there are some unusual activities taking place in the Human Realm.
But what he doesn't get is that the source of these activities isn't a demon. He tells Botan to go and contact Yusuke, as they need their spirit detective. On Earth, Yusuke, Kuwabara and Keiko are heading to school. Yusuke says that ever since the tournament, he's been tired all the time. Kuwabara thinks that on a day as nice as this, it'd be a waste to go to school.
Yusuke thinks they should skip school today, and Kuwabara suggests they go to the game center. However Keiko bashes Yusuke on the back of the head and tells him what is he talking about -he barely passed to get into the next grade, so now he has to start attending school. Yusuke says ok, but he thinks she's such a nag.
They then come across some guys harassing some other students. The guys come up to them and tell them to move out of the way, but one of them then sees Yusuke...
...and sees the look in his eyes. Another guy wonders what's wrong, and then gets scared when he looks at Yusuke. The guys move aside and let them pass, and as they do, they think that Yusuke had the eyes of someone who's seen his share of battles.
As they head on, two other guys watch them pass. Elsewhere, Hiei kills a demon insect, and says this city has a strong stench. The lower order of demons are becoming more active, and he thinks either it's an advance warning, or something could already be happening. But it has nothing to do with him either way.
At Meio private academy, the latest test scores are put up. As usual, Shuichi Minamino is in first place again. Kaito, one of the students at the school, looks at the scores. A teacher tells him not to let this bother him, as he still got second place. Kaito says it doesn't bother him.
As he walks off, he thinks of how someday, he'll teach Minamino a lesson. Nearby, two girls tell Shuichi that he came in first again. Kurama tells them he just got lucky. They think he should be thrilled, and he claims he is, but he then notices something on one of the girl's shoulders.
He distracts them by telling them there's someone at the door, and as they turn around, he quickly snatches it. They want to hang out with him, but he says he has to finish his book. As they run off, Kurama looks at what he just grabbed: a Makai insect, things that humans can't see with their eyes. It hadn't taken root yet, so nothing serious happened, but that was still a close one. He wonders how it got here, and what is happening.
Meanwhile, at Sarayashiki middle school, Kuwabara's friends say that lately the guys from other schools haven't been coming around to start any fights. Kirishima suggests they go out and get this whole area under their control, but Kuwabara tells them not to go looking for a fight. He goes to look out of a window, and says if things are peaceful, then that's fine. His friends wonder what's happened to him, and Okubo thinks he got jilted by another girl.
Unsurprisingly, Kuwabara is thinking about Yukina. He thinks that once again, they've been separated, but he has faith that one day, they'll meet again. Until that day, he will continue to improve being the man that he is. As he's thinking about this, he's unaware that Yusuke is behind him.
Yusuke performs his kancho style spirit gun, much to Kuwabara's displeasure. Yusuke asks him what he's so lost in thought about, as it's not like him. He says he'd finished his lunch early, so he thought if Kuwabara was done eating, he'd get something from him. Kuwabara thinks that's awfully presumptuous, and says he has nothing left to eat. Yusuke thinks that's no way to talk to the man who saved his life, and the superstar who saved the world. They soon start shouting at each other.
Kuwabara's friends wonder if Kuwabara and Yusuke actually get along or not, and Sawamura says he's sure that, in a previous life, they must have been a married couple who were on bad terms. Botan then pops up and asks them who they think the husband was, and who was the wife? They start thinking about it...
...and immediately regret thinking about it. Yusuke and Kuwabara are still arguing, so Botan breaks them up. Yusuke tells her if she's got any nonsense for him to do, he'll pass -let Kuwabara do it instead!
Takenaka then tells them to knock it off, as the bell rang some time a go. He tells Yusuke that his class is in the room next door, so Yusuke says he's going back now. Takenaka asks Botan if she's a new student, as he doesn't recognize her. She claims to just be passing through, and quickly leaves the room with Yusuke.
Yusuke asks her what she came here for, but she says as it'll take a while to explain, she'll come back again after school. Yusuke gets through the school day, but he's not feeling himself. He's about to go home when he sees Keiko. Keiko reminds him about Puu, but Yusuke wants nothing to do with him -if he carries him, it'll draw attention. He wants Keiko to continue carrying him.
Keiko has an idea, and takes Yusuke's bag. She ties Puu to the bag and says now it's ok -if anyone looks at Puu now, they'll just think he's a stuffed animal. Yusuke still isn't convinced, but has to take his bag back and Puu along with it. Keiko says she has an after-school club to go to, but tells Yusuke to be careful going home. Yusuke wonders why she's saying that -he's not a little kid, does she think he's going to get hit by a car or something?! Keiko reminds him he was hit by a car once, so Yusuke mopes off.
As he heads out of the school, Kuwabara joins him. Kuwabara asks him about what Botan wanted, but Yusuke says she said she'd come back after school. Kuwabara thinks it'd be a little rude if he just left now without waiting for her, but Yusuke tells him it's alright. Today, he's just going to pass it. He says he's feeling sluggish, and Kuwabara asks him if he used up all his spiritual strength in the fight against Toguro. Yusuke says it's not that, but it could be that he used up all of his emotional strength. He thinks he may be experiencing the feeling of emptiness that those who have reached their peak experience.
Kuwabara asks him if he feels this, and elbows him on the head. He thinks Urameshi is getting way too full of himself, and he thought for a moment he'd lost his spiritual power, like he has. He reveals that his spiritual sensitivity isn't working at all, and is thinking it might be a side effect from that sword of trials he got from Suzuki. He wonders about going to see Genkai about it. But then, the two see something up ahead.
Three guys are waiting at the school gate. They want a word with Yusuke, but Kuwabara is annoyed they've got nothing to say to him. Yusuke says it's alright, as now he has an excuse to skip out. He tells Kuwabara to go and listen to what Botan has to say, and then asks the guys where they want to do this. One of them tells him they can go to a field nearby.
Kuwabara has his concerns, but Yusuke tells him it has been so long since he's had an ordinary fight. He tells Kuwabara to say hi to Botan for him, and then heads off after the three guys. They arrive at the field, and Yusuke tells them he can do this one-handed -they should all come at him at once. But the guy with blonde hair says he can do this by himself. Back at the school, Botan finds out from Kuwabara that Yusuke has gone off to have a fight. Kuwabara thinks Yusuke will have won already, and has probably gone off somewhere else.
At the field, Yusuke easily punches down his opponent. He asks him if he's done already, but the guy gets back up. Back at the school, Botan explains to Kuwabara about what Koenma told her, and that there are people suddenly showing up all over who have strange powers. And they aren't demons, everyone effected has been human.
The fight continues, but it's totally one-sided. Yusuke tells the other two to join in and fight, but they just say that Yusuke really is strong. They tell their friend, Kido, that it's time he got serious. Kido says they're right, as he ought to settle this before the sun goes down.
Yusuke tells him to quit bluffing, or he'll beat him to death! Kido tells Yusuke to let that strange creature go, as he'd feel sorry if he was to get caught in the middle of this. Yusuke lets Puu go, and asks Kido who he is.
Kido says his full name is Asato Kido, and he's a bona fide human. But he says he's not of the normal variety, and does something to the space around him and Yusuke. Yusuke wonders what's going on, as Kido welcomes him to his territory. He tells him he's free to fight back, but it won't be possible. Yusuke realizes that he can't move.
Kuwabara and Botan hear a load of noise outside, and go to find out what's going on. They see Puu, who flies to Botan, and was being chased by a load of students. The students want to know what Puu is, and Kuwabara claims it's just a remote control toy. The students want to know more...
...so Kuwabara screams at them to make them go away. He and Botan go back into the classroom, where Puu is fussing around. But since he can't talk, they don't know what he's trying to tell them. Puu takes a piece of chalk, and writes out a message: Yusuke has been abducted! Neither Kuwabara or Botan can believe it, and Kuwabara thinks Urameshi's the kind of guy who'd abduct others, but not the kind of guy who could be abducted.
Puu leads them to the field, where they find Yusuke's bag. They also find a note on it, which states they'll be waiting at Yojigen Mansion in the Rokurokubi block tonight, at 11pm. It also says to bring as many people as they like, but the trio of Kuwabara, Hiei and Kurama must come. If these conditions aren't met, Urameshi's life can't be guaranteed.
After surviving through so many conflicts, and even having defeated Toguro, Yusuke was so easily abducted! What objective do these mysterious students, Kido, Kaito and the other one, have? And what is the meaning of this "territory" that they mentioned?
