The Scheme Vanishes, Together With the Stadium

Yusuke fires a final spirit gun blast, putting all of his power into it. Toguro grabs the blast, initially with one hand, but he soon has to use both hands to try and stop it. He crushes the blast and destroys it.

But it was too much for him to stand, and his body cracks up. He thanks Yusuke for letting him put out that much power, and thinks what is happening to him now may be the strain caused by going beyond 100%. His 100% form shatters, and he falls to the ground.

Yusuke stands back up, something his friends are all happy to see.

Juri and Koto declare Yusuke the victor. Koto also announces that the Urameshi team are the champions of the Dark Tournament. Whilst everyone is happy, Yukina notices that Keiko is still unresponsive.

Kurama says Yusuke has defeated Toguro at last, whilst Koenma is pleased to see that Yusuke has grown this much. Yusuke collapses again, and Kurama helps him up. Kurama tells him he won, but Yusuke looks over...

...and sees Kuwabara's dead body. He says it was because he was so spineless that it got Kuwabara killed, and he just stood there and watched him die.

Kuwabara died right before his eyes, and he couldn't do anything. As he screams Kuwabara's name, Kurama notices something.

Kuwabara is back up, and tells idiot Urameshi that it's him -Kuwabara! He asks him how he's doing.

?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Yusuke is understandably a bit shocked at what is going on, and Kurama explains that Kuwabara was never dead to begin with. When he got to Kuwabara first...

...it turned out Kuwabara wasn't dead. He told Kurama that Toguro didn't hit any of his vital points, but also said don't tell Urameshi. He thought that some shock therapy might be good for him. Back in the present, Kurama says that's how it happened.

Yusuke asks if they all knew about this, and Koenma says whilst he didn't think it was the nicest thing to do, still... Yusuke isn't happy for been taken in like that, but Hiei tells him it's his own fault for being so gutless.

He says if he'd released that power to begin with, this whole farce could have been avoided. He then hears some noise, and Kurama points him to where a fight is taking place: Yusuke is beating up Kuwabara for tricking him. He's going to kill him!

Even Hiei is at a loss for words. Yukina is glad that Kazuma is alright, and Botan thinks Kuwabara is a real performer. Koenma tells Yusuke to cut it out already, or Kuwabara really will die.

Yusuke stops beating Kuwabara up, and then looks at Toguro's body. He wonders why Toguro didn't kill Kuwabara, and Kuwabara wonders why too. He says that all Toguro had to do was keep digging into his critical points, and it would have killed him. Hiei thinks Kuwabara's defensive powers were more heightened that Toguro expected, meaning he didn't pierce through to his heart. Kurama wonders if maybe Toguro wasn't planning on killing Kuwabara in the first place. He gets the feeling that Toguro was waiting all along for things to turn out like this: for someone who was really strong to come and defeat him.

Koenma thinks that perhaps Toguro felt empty over abandoning his friend, in order to get stronger. So maybe he wanted to be defeated by someone his friend believed in, even if he had to keep playing the bad guy. But now, they'll never know.

Sakyo walks over and says that what Kurama thinks is probably right. He only knew Toguro for a few years, but he did have those points about him. When Toguro first met Urameshi, he seemed happier than he'd seen him in recent years. He thinks that perhaps Toguro had been waiting for a man like Urameshi to appear, so he could fight against the greatest opponent he could hope for, and meet with the end he desired. He then says that he has lost the wager, and the cause of his defeat was him not being able to see through Toguro's true nature. Koenma says it's ok -he doesn't want his life. Sakyo says that won't do, as a gambler, the lowest thing he could do is not own up to his loss.

He pulls out a device and presses a button on it. The entire stadium starts to shake, and parts of it crack up. He's activated a self-destruct sequence which has a 15 minute timer!

The remaining spectators flee for their lives. Sakyo says this place will soon explode, together with him and his ambitions. He tells Koenma this is how he'll settle their wager, and then walks off. Koenma asks him where he's going, but he says nothing.

Botan tells her group that they need to get out of here quick, but Shizuru sees Sakyo walking away, and heads off to find him. The shaking causes parts of the stadium to crumble away. Koenma tells Yusuke and the others to get the girls out.

He's still got a few things to discuss with Sakyo, so he heads off after him. Yusuke says they'll go, but then stumbles. He's still weak, but says he's ok. He takes another look at Toguro...

...and tells him he'll see him around. Nearby, Juri desperately tries to get Koto to leave, as she says it's too dangerous here. But Koto says the commendation ceremony isn't over yet, as the play-by-play announcer, she's got to do her job. Juri then notices a shadow over them...

...and sees a large rock about to fall down on top of them. She saves Koto and herself just in time, and then tells Koto that she doesn't want to die before she gets married! Koto announces that they'll be canceling the commendation ceremony, as well as the awards ceremony for the champions. She thanks everyone for listening to her commentary for so long!

She and Juri then finally run off. Meanwhile, Shizuru heads down some steps, heading after Sakyo. Koenma has already found Sakyo, but Sakyo tells him not to worry. His dream, and everything else, will perish here with him. That's his style.

He says that Toguro would have wanted to have his body blown away, without a trace left. That's his final task. Koenma asks him why he's rushing to his death. Sakyo explains he'd planned on opening a big hole, creating a tunnel that connected the Demon Realm with the Human Realm. He wanted to let any demons, no matter how evil, freely pass into the Human Realm. It would have made the world a much more chaotic, yet fascinating place.

But now his greatest dream will be blown away, along with himself. He and Koenma than notice Shizuru standing at the doorway. She walks into the room.

Sakyo pulls out a lighter, and after looking at it for a few seconds, he throws it to Shizuru.

He then waves at her, just before there is an explosion in the room. Koenma has to stop Shizuru from rushing forward, as the explosion causes the ceiling to fall apart. The debris falls down over Sakyo.

Koenma has to then drag Shizuru away. Back outside, Botan and Yukina are still trying to get Keiko to respond. Kuwabara sees them -or more accurately, sees Yukina -and charges through the remaining demons.

The rest of the Urameshi team see this, and decide to follow him. Botan and Yukina are still trying to get Keiko to come back to her senses, just as Kuwabara arrives at where they are. He tells Yukina to come this way, but she starts to explain about Keiko.

Just then, the wall next to Yukina crumbles, and falls down over her. But Hiei manages to save her just in time. He tells her not to dawdle around, whilst Kuwabara is left fuming.

5 minutes are left on the timer, as Botan explains to Yusuke that Keiko is just staring off into space, and won't move. Yusuke tries speaking to Keiko, but she still won't respond. He decides this is a pain, and slaps her repeatedly in an attempt to wake her up.

This thankfully does the trick, as she responds by saying that hurts, and then slapping him back full force. Yusuke's face becomes one with the ground, as Keiko wonders what is going on.

The group run towards an exit, as now there's only 3 minutes left on the timer. Kuwabara asks Yukina where his sister is, but she doesn't know, as she had been right there with them. Kuwabara is sure Shizuru will be alright. The group then see a bunch of demons up ahead, and see that their way is blocked off by debris. Yusuke says they've got no choice by to knock it out of the way, but he and the others don't have enough strength left to do so.

There's only 2 minutes to go, and Botan says it's hopeless -they don't have enough time to take a different route. But then, part of the debris explodes, as Chu and Rinku appear on the other side of it. Chu says they can't let the hero of the tournament get hurt in a place like this.

Toya and Jin are also there, and Jin says they had to do this, as they want to have a rematch with the Urameshi team at the next tournament. As everyone resumes running, Keiko sees that Puu has come back as well. She grabs him and heads off. Not far behind, Shizuru and Koenma are also on the way.

However Koenma then trips, and sees that Jorge is trapped under some rubble. He wonders why he's still here, and the pulls him out. Jorge hugs him, but asks why he had to say "are you still here" -he's so cold! Koenma asks him not hug him, but then they hear that there's only 30 seconds left. Everyone runs out of the stadium, just as it starts to explode.

Everyone turns around, and they see that Koenma, Shizuru and Jorge have all made it out. Soon the stadium is nothing but a pile of rubble and smoke. Yusuke says it's over.

Botan then remembers that the winners are supposed to each get the one thing they want, but now none of them will be able to get anything. Kuwabara realizes she's right, but Yusuke say's it doesn't matter. The one thing he wanted, they wouldn't have been able to give him anyway. Yusuke shouts up to Genkai, and tells her that they've won.
