Synopsis
Koenma meets with Yusuke and Botan, and tells them that it is time for Yusuke to be returned to life. He opens the pathways to Yusuke's body, so that power from the Spirit Realm can be transferred. However, life energy must be transferred, mouth to mouth, by another person. And this must be done by midnight, otherwise Yusuke will have to wait another 50 years! After trying and failing to get Atsuko and Kuwabara to help, Yusuke enters Keiko's dreams to tell her. However when she heads over in the morning, she thinks it was just a dream, and then goes to school. Her mother is taken ill and she goes to the hospital to stay with her, but Botan is able to communicate with Keiko via her mother. Keiko rushes over to the Urameshi's new home, and kisses Yusuke just in time. Yusuke is returned to life, but Koenma tells Botan that his trial is just beginning.
The following morning, Yusuke is enjoying the thrill of being alive, and heads into a coffee shop. He sees a gang, led by Sakamoto, and then watches as Kuwabara and his friends walk in. Sakamoto had instructed Kuwabara to steal some manga books, threatening to harm Kuwabara's beloved kitten, Eikichi, if he didn't. Kuwabara drops some books onto the table, but Sakamoto finds the receipt, meaning he didn't steal them. He has everyone go outside and tells Kuwabara to beat his own friends up, otherwise Eikichi will be killed.
However Yusuke appears, and a big fight starts. Sakamoto tries to run off, but is taken out by Yusuke. However Yusuke is surprised to see and catch a small demon criminal called Jyaki, who crawls out of Sakamoto's mouth. Botan then appears, who says she is going to be his assistant, as an image of Koenma then appears in the sky. Koenma tells Yusuke he is making him a spirit detective, and Botan will be helping him. Botan takes Jyaki and heads up into the sky, as Yusuke thinks that now he's returned to his own body, things are going to get troublesome again...
