Synopsis
Koenma suddenly appears with Yusuke's spirit beast egg, which is about to hatch. Everyone is worried it could hatch a monster which will devour Yusuke, but as the egg cracks open, it turns out the "beast" is anything but -it's Puu, a cute little creature who likes to sit on top of Yusuke's head. Everyone gets a good laugh out of this, although Yusuke doesn't appreciate it. When they return to the hotel, everyone else, especially Kuwabara, finds it funny as well. Botan suggests they all go and watch the next matches tomorrow morning, as they'll find out who the Urameshi team will have to face next.
However, during the next morning, the Reverse Bedtime Stories team defeat their opponents in two minutes. Whilst Kurama and Hiei saw the fight, everyone else arrives too late to see the match. The Toguro team then appears at the opposite end of the stadium, and the younger Toguro brother challenges Yusuke to take his head. As they walk off, Kuwabara is in utter shock at how much demon energy Toguro has, and can't believe he once fought him before.
The Reverse Bedtime Stories team later visit the Urameshi team, but Yusuke doesn't take them seriously. Shishiwakamaru tells them he'll make him regret those words, as he and his team walk off. Yusuke thinks those guys will just be a warm up, but the masked fighter tells him to stop being so conceited. She tells Yusuke to step outside, so he follows her out of the stadium. She reveals that she is actually Genkai, but before she'll let Yusuke ask any questions, she tells him to shoot a rock with his spirit gun. He does so, and totally destroys it.
Genkai then uses her spirit gun, which destroys a rock which was 10 times bigger than the one Yusuke shot. Yusuke realizes her spirit gun is in a different league when compared to his. Genkai explains that when the spirit wave is raised to its highest level, the cells are activated, and the body is temporarily changed. In her case, it changes her appearance to when she was 20 years old, which was the time she was at her best. As she changes back to her usual self, she says she will now present Yusuke with a trial. The final, greatest trial she will ever give him. Yusuke wonders what this trial could be.
-Yusuke does not hit Kuwabara in the manga.
-Because of the above, the scene where Kuwabara tries asking Yukina to heal him, only to have Shizuru hit him, was not in the manga either.
-Yusuke and Kuwabara head off to watch the match immediately in the manga. In the anime, this was changed to Botan suggesting they go and watch the match when it starts the next morning.
-In the anime, they fight between the Reverse Bedtime Stories team and the Gokai Six team was expanded upon, showing Momotaro and Makintaro defeating their opponents. In the anime, only Onji is seen winning.
-Onji's opponent looks different in the manga, as he wears a mask. In the anime, he has no mask.
-The Gokai Six team also has an additional, vampire-like team member in the manga, who isn't seen in the anime.
-When Shishiwakamaru points at Kurama and Hiei, the two are standing on the very top of the stadium in the manga. In the anime, they're inside the stadium.
-The manga briefly shows another fight just before Yusuke and the others arrive. It's unknown who the fighters are and what teams they're from, but this part of the manga was not shown in the anime.
-Botan is with the team when they meet up with Hiei and Kurama in the anime, but she's not there in the manga.
-The manga has a brief scene where Hiei finds out Kurama knows who his sister is because Yusuke told him. This isn't shown in the anime.
-In the manga, the Reverse Bedtime Stories team confront the Urameshi team right after the Toguro team walk off. In the anime, the Urameshi team head into one of the stadium's changing rooms first, and the Uraotogi team confront them there instead.
-The heated discussion between Yusuke and the masked fighter in the anime doesn't happen in the manga. The masked fighter just asks Yusuke for a word.
-In the manga, Puu is with Yusuke when he and Genkai are blowing up rocks. In the anime, Puu is with Botan.
-The anime's scene where Botan goes to Koenma is not in the manga.
-During the opening recap, the animation showing Kuwabara hitting Risho into some spectators features a different background to what was actually shown in the previous episode.
-Kuwabara apparently now has his own room in the hotel -previously he was sharing with Yusuke. Given how many fighters have died at this point, it makes sense more rooms are available...
