Toguro, the champion from the last tournament, showed off his overwhelming power to everyone in the stadium. Elsewhere, Yusuke was unable to fire his spirit gun, and Hiei was unable to use his right arm. With no regard to their shared concerns, the tournament entered its final rounds. It was decided that the opponents of Yusuke and company would be the mysterious martial arts company, the Dr. Ichigaki team.

A Desperate Battle, With a 0.05% Chance of Winning!

Kuwabara suddenly wakes up, having had a strange dream. Later on he tells Urameshi about it, about three martial artists. Yusuke jokes he must have dreamt about being blown to bits by these guys, but Kuwabara tells him to take this seriously.

Yusuke finds it hard to take a dream seriously, so Kuwabara says he won't talk to him about it again. He wonders where Hiei and Kurama have gone off to, and Yusuke doesn't know. Yusuke says they won't have run away on them, so there must be some other reason. He tells Kuwabara to just relax, and then says it's time for them to go. The two of them, along with the masked fighter, head off to the stadium.

Along the way, they meet some guy... Koenma! Yusuke realizes who it is, and Koenma says this is the form he takes when he's in the Human Realm. Koenma thinks he's pretty handsome, but Yusuke tells him he'd look better without the pacifier. Koenma tells Kuwabara he owes him once for helping Yusuke out. Yusuke asks him what he's here for.

Koenma says he's here to lend his strength as the owner of the Urameshi team. He reminds Yusuke that, some time a go, he took charge of his egg. Yusuke doesn't know what he's talking about, so Koenma reminds him: the spirit beast egg he gave him in order for him to come back to life.

Yusuke passed his trial earlier than expected, and was returned to life. Because of this, his egg wasn't hatched, and was returned to the Spirit Realm. But it continued to grow, little by little, as it received nourishment from Yusuke's heart. Koenma thinks it'll hatch sometime within the next few days. The Spirit Beast that will be born should definitely be able to help Yusuke. He then asks how much did Yusuke learn from Master Genkai? He hopes she taught him all of her ultimate secret techniques. However Yusuke says they continued with the basics of the spirit wave, and that's all they did.

Koenma is surprised by this, as Yusuke and the others head off. He wonders if they can really win without Yusuke knowing the ultimate secret techniques. But if they expect Yusuke to grow in battle, then maybe this tournament is ideal for him. Elsewhere, Hiei is walking through a forest, clutching his right arm.

It's still putting him in immense amounts of pain. Kurama turns up and asks if he's alright, but Hiei acts as if nothing's wrong. Kurama tells him he must know that the next fights won't be easy enough for him to win with one hand. Hiei reminds him what the guy with the black glasses told them: they can't pull out of this.

Hiei says it's kill or be killed, just as two demons walk up to them. Back at the stadium, the next fight is about to begin. It's the Urameshi team vs the Dr. Ichigaki team, but the audience wonder what's going on -both teams are missing members! Kurama tells Yusuke that the opposing team look just like the people he saw in his dream.

Kuwabara dreamt of an event that happened in the past. At the Mitamura dojo, several students were sat around their master, Mitamura, who was ill and dying. Despite this, Mitamura was in good spirits, saying he regrets nothing and thinks he will die whilst surrounded by such wonderful children. One of the students, Ryo, says that the hospital fees for the operation are 70 million yen, which is far too much money for them to raise on short notice.

Another student, Kai, says they had no one to look after them, and their master raised them like they were his own sons, and trained them in mind and body. Now there's nothing they can do for him. Mitamura says their feelings alone are enough, and they will all be alright without him here. Another student, En, says they will heal him, no matter what.

Someone is then heard laughing, and everyone turns around to see Ichigaki waiting in the doorway. He introduces himself and says he can heal Mitamura's disease, and he can do it for free. He says there is just one condition. Ryo says they'll accept whatever the condition is, so Ichigaki tells them he wants three of them -Ryo, Kai and En -to take part in one of his experiments.

Back in the ring, Kuwabara says his dream has become a reality. Koto asks for both teams to come forward, and wants them to decide to choose how they want to fight. Ichigaki suggests three against three, since both teams have the same amount of fighters. Yusuke says he doesn't mind, but asks if Ichigaki is going to watch from a distance. Ichigaki says he is the team's alternate and adviser.

The ones who will fight are his adorable experimental materials, the Marmots. He says his dream is to create the mightiest of biological weapons, which will fear nothing and become the perfect killing machines. The three here are experimental models, but he has interest in the Urameshi team. He proposes that, if his team wins, they he gets the bodies of the Urameshi team. He doesn't care if they're corpses, as he can construct brains for them. Yusuke says if his team wins, then they'll kill Ichigaki.

Ichigaki is fine with that, and thinks that everything is going as according to his scenario simulation. Without Kurama and Hiei, the chances of the Urameshi team winning is just 2%. The masked fighter then says she has one other proposal: this match will be a six person battle. She wants to settle this all at once. Ichigaki pulls out a device that lets him calculate what his team's chances are...

...and finds out they have a 99.95% chance of winning! He says he accepts the masked fighter's proposal, and walks off the ring. As he does, he thinks that the Urameshi team have just dug their own grave, as his team is far stronger when they fight together than when they fight individually. As the Urameshi team get ready, Kuwabara thinks mask's proposal was the right thing to do. As Urameshi can't use his spirit gun, he and mask can cover him. And if they put their money on coming from behind and winning in one shot, they have a chance.

He looks at the other team and thinks that the more he hears of this, the more it sounds like the dream he had. The masked fighter then says she's seen their three opponents before. They were the favored pupils of a famous martial artist, who loved their master with all their hearts, and applied themselves to training.

Kuwabara says he was right -those three are part of some ridiculous experiment where they've been brainwashed, and are now being made to fight against their will. Shizuru sees that her brother has realized what's going on, and tells Keiko and Botan that there's some sort of deep-seated hatred flowing over this match. This match will be a bitter fight, and she can hear a heart-wrenching cry of grief calling out from somewhere.

Koto tells them to begin, and the Ichigaki team rush forward. M3 leaps up and uses his hound claw move...

Yusuke considers attacking, but the masked fighter tells him and Kuwabara to jump back. They do so, leading to M3 hitting the ring and destroying a big chunk of it instantly. M2 then uses his invisible technique to hit Yusuke and Kuwabara before they can land.

Koto says the Ichigaki team's sudden attack has hit, and has flung Urameshi and Kuwabara away. Yusuke wonders what hit them, as he couldn't see it. Koto says the Ichigaki team moved so quickly she couldn't even confirm what they did, but that was some incredible teamwork.

Ichigaki thinks the Urameshi team were lucky to dodge that, but it makes him want them all as experimental subjects even more. The masked fighter regroups with the rest of her team and asks them if they're ok. Kuwabara says if they hadn't jumped, they would have been squashed. Yusuke wants to give her their thanks, but she doubts they have time for that. They see that M1 is now attacking, using his angel chakram technique.

The Urameshi team have to perform some acrobatics to avoid the projectiles. M1 continues using his attack, whilst M2 uses his invisible technique again.

Kuwabara gets hit by it and is almost sent flying off the ring, but he uses his spirit sword to keep himself in. M3 then runs towards Kuwabara, but Yusuke takes aim with his spirit gun.

But nothing happens -he still can't use it! M3 leaps up, and Yusuke starts to run towards them, as he knows Kuwabara will die if he takes that attack head-on. But before he can try to do anything, the masked fighter suddenly appears, and hits M3 with a flying kick.

The masked fighter tells her team that spirit energy is something that, if refined, can be made out to be invisible. Yusuke realizes she's trying to say that their opponent's invisible attacks are due to the power of their spirit energy. Kuwabara says they've got spiritual powers too, so why can't they see them? The masked fighter says it's because their spiritual power is still low. Kuwabara wonders how they're supposed to fight them, and the masked fighter says that's something she doesn't know.

Back at the forest, M4 unwisely charges forward, but is cut up and killed quickly by Kurama and Hiei. Kurama say this guy apparently wasn't up to the task of slowing them down.

Hiei asks M5 if he'd like to die, but he just laughs. He pulls out a remote and presses a button on it, causing something nearby to activate and stomp out of the forest.

M5 says this is Gatasubaru, a steel demon who knows neither pain, nor fear of death. It's Dr. Ichigaki's masterpiece! He sets Gatasubaru on Kurama and Hiei, and it attacks by shooting its arms at them. Its arms can stretch and extend to cover a great distance quickly.

One arm goes after Hiei, whilst the other chases Kurama. Hiei avoids getting grabbed and tries slashing an arm with his sword, but even his sword can't scratch it. M5 says Gatasubaru's armor is specially treated with negatively charmed water, to defend against spirit energy. Hiei decides to try and attack M5 himself...

...but Gatasubaru swats him before he can. Hiei falls on his bad arm, causing him to drop his sword, and his guard. This allows Gatasubaru to grab him and pin him to a tree.

M5 calls Hiei frail, and thinks he's nothing more than a lump of flesh. Hiei tells him not to toy with him, and starts to summon the dragon through his other arm. But Kurama tells him not to do it. Kurama leads the arm chasing him around...

...and gets it to chase him right where he wants it. He leaps up towards Hiei, causing Gatasubaru to hit himself. It lets go of Hiei, and has managed to damage itself. Both arms go after Kurama.

The arms collide with Kurama, and M5 thinks with him out of the way, Hiei is next. But as the dust dies down, M5 notices that Gatasubaru isn't moving. He then sees that Kurama has survived, and has his rose whip integrated with Gatasubaru's circuits.

Kurama says Ichigaki should have taught Gatasubaru how to feel pain, as in both machines and living things, small injuries can prove to be fatal. He's used his whip to break into Gatasubaru's circuits, and says it's nice machines are so given to persuasion. He then asks M5 what he wants to do next: obey them, or die. M5 starts to stumble back.

Back at the stadium, M1 is still using his angel chakram, whilst M3 uses his hound claw. All the Urameshi team can do is try to avoid the attacks. Botan says she can't watch any more, and rushes off.

M2 hits Yusuke and Kuwabara with his invisible technique again, knocking them both back. They get up, and see their opponents marching towards them. Yusuke thinks that they can't lose here, but doesn't know what to do. Will the Urameshi team be able to find a means to turn the tables?
