The tournament to be the successor to the secrets of the spiritual practitioner master Genkai has at last entered the semifinals. Yusuke, still unable to determine who the terrible demon Rando was, barely won after a long fight in his death match against the ninja Kazemaru. Is the remaining contestant Shorin actually Rando?

Rando Appears!
Kuwabara's Grievous Defeat

Genkai announces that the next semifinal match will be between Shorin and Kuwabara. Kuwabara thinks that this will be an easy win, as he and his opponent get ready to fight. Botan can't believe Shorin is Rando, and Yusuke can't believe such a feeble-looking guy would be the demon either.

Koenma says Rando is a fearsome demon who has defeated 99 exceptional spiritual practitioners. Every time Rando steals a secret, he makes his own style of finishing move from it, and then tests it on humans. He's a demon who enjoys a massacre, one fight after the next. There's still nobody who's seen Rando's true form and lived.

Botan says that if Shorin is Rando, Kuwabara's life is in danger. Yusuke tells Kuwabara to hold on. Kuwabara tells him he doesn't need his words of encouragement, but Yusuke tries to warn him that his opponent is too much for him -he could be the demon Rando. He requests for Kuwabara to retire now, but Kuwabara wonders what he's saying -it doesn't matter who his opponent is, and besides, Urameshi has only got through his matches by being sneaky and lucky! He tells Yusuke that after he's done with Shorin, he's next.

The two start insulting each other until Botan tries to calm them down. Shorin asks if they can start, and the match begins. They both charge at each other, but Kuwabara is the one to land the first attack, hitting Shorin in the face.

Shorin is sent flying, and bounces along the ground a couple of times. He gets up and says he'll get serious about this, and attacks with a series of punches and kicks which Kuwabara dodges or blocks. Kuwabara sees an opening and hits Shorin on the head, knocking him down again.

Yusuke and Botan begin to think that this guy really isn't Rando. Perhaps Rando's legend is untrue, and he's really not that strong. Or maybe someone else beat him earlier and they just don't know about it. Kuwabara asks Shorin if that's all he's got.

Shorin says he'll use his finishing technique, and goes into a stance. His spirit energy changes, as he creates two fireballs in his hands. Genkai seems to recognize the technique.

KASHOU HAPPAN KEN

(Destructive Fire Emitting Fist)

Shorin throws the fireballs at Kuwabara, who just about manages to avoid being hit by them. Since his opponent is using firearms, he decides to make use of his specialty, and generates his spirit sword. He announces that this is the Ochiai-style sword of the league-leading hitter!

Shorin throws another fireball, but Kuwabara uses his sword to hit it right back at him. Shorin doesn't avoid it and gets hit.

As he does down for the third time, Kuwabara tells him that his pitches are slower than the 120 kmh at the batting center. Yusuke tells Botan that Kuwabara does get stronger with every fight, and even if his opponent is Rando, he's still going to win this. Shorin gets up and tells Kuwabara that his ability to join defense and attack is superb. But in that case, how about this?

He starts chanting and nobody seems to know what is going on, but Genkai knows what's up. The technique Shorin is using now, along with the fireballs... they are secret techniques of a famous spell caster and martial artist from long a go, who spent half their lives developing them. She had heard the spell caster and martial artist were killed, and their notes of mastery were stolen by a demon. Yusuke realizes that Shorin really is Rando after all!

As Shorin continues his chanting, Kuwabara decides to take the fight to him. He charges, but suddenly, he has to stop and look up...

...as he sees that Shorin has become a giant! Kuwabara has to roll around to avoid being stomped on, but then wonders where did all of this huge grass come from?

He the notices a massive caterpillar and realizes what has happened, just as Shorin grabs him. Shorin tells him that's correct, he hasn't become a giant. He then starts to tighten his grip.

Yusuke says there's no way Kuwabara can win now and tells him to give up, but Shorin tells him that wouldn't give him any satisfaction, he needs to treat his opponent to a bit more pain. He tosses Kuwabara into the air, then decides to start with his right arm. He rips part of his uniform off, then starts to slowly bend his arm until it snaps.

As Kuwabara screams, Shorin just laughs. He then wonders what would happen if he gripped his body as hard as he could with both hands. Yusuke tells Genkai this match has now been won, as she tells Shorin that's enough, and that he's the victor. But Shorin isn't done yet, and tightens his grip.

Yusuke charges towards him, but he notices and tosses Kuwabara into the marshlands. As he says how good that felt, Yusuke and Botan search for Kuwabara.

Shorin decides to undo the spell he used earlier, so they can see what's become of Kuwabara. Kuwabara is returned to normal, and Botan says in addition to his arm being fractured, so are his left leg and his ribs. Both his arms are broken to pieces. Kuwabara is still alive, and weakly says that although his bones have been broken, he won't die. He asks Yusuke when their next fight together will be, before passing out.

Rando says he'd been waiting to try that attack, but it takes in some time to focus, and also consumes quite a bit of energy. And when he does it, it leaves him wide open, and it doesn't raise his attack power. It seems that technique really isn't suited for actual combat. But on that point, if he pushed master Genkai's spirit wave technique to its limits, one's opponent would be blown away without a trace. Any human would be blown to bits, and Genkai says that's true, if it was used for evil. Shorin is excited, and says if it was to become his technique, he'd sure like to try it straight away.

Yusuke tells him not to be ridiculous. He'll only get to do that after he's fought him. Genkai announces that the final match will be between Shorin and Yusuke. Koenma says that the two fighter's abilities are fairly evenly matched, and tells Yusuke he can do it.

Shorin notices that Yusuke's spirit energy, which is mingled with bloodlust, is rising rapidly. The match begins and Yusuke charges, whilst Rando stands his ground. Yusuke tells him how dare he did that to Kuwabara, and goes for a punch...

...which hits Shorin in the face, sending him skidding back. Yusuke tells him that he's going to make him sorry for this, that and for the other 99 who were killed by him as well.

The fight resumes, and Yusuke is dominating it. As Shorin gets punched two more times, he says that Yusuke's spiritual power only registered 155, but in an actual power, it's more like it's way over 200. Yusuke tells him to get up, as he's not going to let him off with just that. Shorin goes into a stance, but Yusuke charges.

ZANKUU REPPU JIN

(Violent Beheading Wind Air Formation)

Shorin leaps into the air, as Genkai again seems to recognize his technique. Shorin says this move is like a vortex, and it can cut through the air. Genkai explains that when a state of vacuum occurs in the air, the air inside one's body seeks to maintain equilibrium, and as a result, your skin is torn like you were cut by a sickle! Shorin says that's right, and tells Yusuke he'll attack him with vacuum blades.

He throws out three of them, which Yusuke charges towards. Two of them hit Yusuke, and even he can't stop them from knocking him down. But he starts to get back up.

Shorin says that was impressive, but this next attack will kill him. As he uses the same technique again, Yusuke charges in once more, despite Genkai thinking he'll be ripped to pieces. But Yusuke jumps up, heading right towards Shorin.

He allows himself to get hit by the blades, as Genkai says by diving into the vortex head-on, Yusuke is minimalizing the area of damage to himself. Yusuke makes it through, and strikes Shorin's throat.

He charges Shorin into the ground, defeating him. Koenma sees that Yusuke has won, but Yusuke is now practically out of energy.

He sees that Shorin is down and tells him he'll be sorry in the next world. Botan tells him he did it and he gave it all to Shorin at once, but Yusuke says he's used up all his energy. Botan tells him that now Kuwabara will be able to rest in peace, and is sure to reach nirvana.

"I-I'm not dead yet, you i-idiot... don't go jumping to your own conclusions... ugh..."

Yusuke seems to be struggling to even keep himself standing, but he walks over to Genkai and tells her he did it. But she asks why has he come back here -his match isn't over yet! If his opponent is Rando, then this is where it begins! Yusuke then hears someone laughing, and turns around.

The voice asks how many years has it been since he's fought against a human in his form as Rando? And it's not even going to be against Genkai, but a human who's not even fully grown -how exciting! As Shorin's body changes, the voice says how is he going to make Yusuke suffer? Part of the ground cracks apart...

...as Rando appears. He tells Yusuke he is the one he's been looking for, and Yusuke thinks that the spectral energy surrounding his body is no trivial matter. Rando starts to laugh.

The terrifying demon Rando at last has shown his true form! Does Yusuke, who has already used up all of his energy, have any chance of winning this fight?
