Amidst the fierce tournament to find the successor to the spiritual practitioner Genkai's secrets, the evil demon Rando was indeed Shorin. After a furious battle, it appeared as though Yusuke had won. However...

Yusuke: No! The strength of the demon energy surrounding his body is no trivial matter!

Finally, the true form of Rando appears!

Sorcery Thrown Into Chaos!!

Rando has revealed himself, and stares at Yusuke. Kuwabara weakly tells Urameshi that he can't lose, not until they settle things. Genkai is surprised at him still saying things like that when he's unconscious.

Rando says he's going to thoroughly enjoy this, and starts to walk towards Yusuke. Yusuke raises his fists, but then falls to his knees. Rando asks him what's wrong, as he's looking pale. He tells him he's gone to the trouble of changing to his true form, but if he can't even get a proper fight out of him, what was the point? Yusuke somehow finds enough energy to get up and start pummeling Rando with punches.

He hits him several times, and lands one last punch to finish him off. But Rando isn't hurt at all, and says it seems the attack Yusuke used earlier to defeat him has taken the last of his power. The punches he just used didn't have any spiritual power left in them. In the Spirit Realm, Koenma says regular punches are no use, Yusuke can't defeat Rando unless he uses spiritual power.

Rando says this time he's going to be the one who attacks, and his entire body glows with a red aura. He shoots some kind of web out of his mouth, which surrounds Yusuke. Botan asks what it is and Genkai says those are threads of demon energy. Even among the large number of demons, there are probably only a few who can create them with their own bodies.

Rando suddenly stops and unites the threads into several solid pieces, which wrap around Yusuke and then merge together. Rando tells him that he could easily squeeze him to death like this, but then that wouldn't give him any satisfaction. So he's going to slowly torment him instead.

He warns him that this stuff is quite tough, and it won't break no matter how much power he uses. Yusuke tries anyway, but he can't break it and Rando tells him it looks like he didn't believe his words. He decides to show him exactly how tough it is, and starts swinging Yusuke around. He then starts smashing him into the floor and through some trees.

He tells him that no matter how much he swings him around, it'll never break. Botan thinks this is no good, there's nothing Yusuke can do. She asks Genkai to stop this fight, as Yusuke is going to die. Genkai asks her if she's sure that's ok. If she was to acknowledge Yusuke's defeat, then her secrets will become Rando's. She doesn't mind, as the winner of this match will be the one to succeed her, even if it is Rando.

Botan tries to warn her that if Rando wins, he might go after her next, but Genkai just says she'll worry about that when it happens. For now she just needs to be quiet and watch, as this hasn't been decided yet. Meanwhile Rando drags Yusuke over to a swamp, and hangs him upside down from a tree. Yusuke asks him what he's going to do, and to just get on with it already. But Rando tells him not to be in a hurry. As he said earlier, he wants to thoroughly enjoy himself.

He starts chanting, and after a few seconds, Yusuke sees that there is something in the swamp. It leaps out and comes close to eating him!

Several creatures are in the swamp, which Rando says are Demon Realm fish. He explains they are his fish, which he has summoned here. He then reveals something else: a small demon who may be of a lower class, but he's still ferocious. He throws the demon at Yusuke...

...and it grows in size. But Rando does something that freezes the demon in mid-air, causing it to drop into the swamp.

The fish quickly rip the demon to pieces. Rando says the fish still haven't had enough, as they have a large appetite. And human flesh is their favorite food! He takes a stance which looks exactly like what Yusuke does when he uses his spirit gun...

...and fires a powerful blasts which misses Yusuke, but completely destroys a tree behind him. Rando tells Yusuke that his fearful face is exactly what he wanted to see.

Genkai says Rando has a frightening spectral power and battle sense. If her secrets were handed over to him, he could become an even greater master of them than she is -as demonic techniques, that is. Rando decides he's going to keep enjoying himself, and takes aim. He tells Yusuke that the screams of a human being eaten alive are his favorite.

He tells Yusuke to cry out with a nice, loud voice, and then tells him to die. He fires his spirit gun, which destroys a branch on the tree. Yusuke is sent down into the swamp.

The fish are ready and as Yusuke falls, he thinks about how he's about to be eaten. Now he wishes he'd played around a little more! He's heard that when you are about to die you see all sorts of things from your past, but all that's coming up for him are bad things!

He hits the swamps and sinks, whilst Rando wants to hear his screams, together with sprays of blood. The fish move in.

Botan says Yusuke will be killed, but as she says this something leaves Kuwabara: his soul. It rises up into the air and darts by them...

...and heads into the swamp, leaving Rando confused. It hits Yusuke, and in doing so scares the fish away for the moment. Yusuke can hear someone calling his name.

He sees that it's Kuwabara, who asks him if he's admitting defeat so soon -if so, he's a wuss! Once he recovers, he's going to fight Rando until he's taken him down!

So in the meantime, he can just wither away like a loser! It's only fitting that a beaten dog will become fish food. He then laughs until he disappears, as the light fades and Yusuke sees that the fish are heading back his way.

Yusuke screams out Kuwabara's name and his spirit energy returns, which breaks apart the thread. Suddenly the entire swamp is rocked by an explosion, as Kuwabara says Urameshi can do it if he tries, can't he?

The explosion ends and Rando surveys the scene: his fish are all dead. That huge amount of spirit energy just now must have let Yusuke break his thread and kill the fish. But he thinks that must have been the last of his spirit energy to escape, so as soon as he surfaces, he'll end him. He tells Yusuke to come out.

Botan is worried Yusuke has used up all of his spirit energy, just as Rando sees a few bubbles in the swamp. He aims and fires his spirit gun, but he doesn't hit anything. Just then a voice asks him where is he aiming?

Yusuke leaps up from behind, and says this swamp is connected all over the place. He takes aim at Rando and says this really is the last of his power -he wants his spirit gun to shine for him!

Rando takes aim and fires, as Yusuke also fires shot shot. The two energy beams hit each other...

...and for a few seconds, it's a stalemate. Rando's blast looks like it's about to consume Yusuke's, only for Yusuke's attack to break through and hit Rando, who get launched backwards.

Rando lands in the swamp, whilst Yusuke lands on the ground. He falls to his knees and says that show's over, as he can't even raise his arms any more. He just hopes Rando will stay stuck down there.

Koenma is ecstatic, and says that Yusuke did it. He and the ogres happily chant banzai. But their celebration is cut short when they notice something. Yusuke sees some bubbles in the swamp, and there is then a large explosion.

The swamp is destroyed, revealing that Rando is still alive. He says that that one really got him, but he jumps out and starts hitting Yusuke with punches and kicks, knowing him down.

Rando says that it looks like he's taken more damage than he thought, as his own spiritual power has dropped considerably. But it seems that Yusuke really has used up all of his energy, which presents a rare chance. He decides to shrink him like he did with his friend, and then bury him. By casting this spell, any slim chance Yusuke had at winning will be completely gone. As he says this, Yusuke realizes he can't understand what he's saying, his mouth is moving but it's just gibberish that's coming out. Rando starts the spell.

He successfully performs it, and asks Yusuke how would he like to die? He suggests smashing every bone he has to bits, then stomping on him until there is nothing left. But then he suddenly begins to shrink!

He doesn't understand what's just happened, as Genkai and Botan come over. Genkai tells him that he's in over his head with his techniques, as spell techniques have the danger of if one makes a mistake, the spell is instead cast upon the user. Rando says it was no mistake, he did it perfectly! Genkai tells him that his spell works though an opponent's sense of hearing into their brain cells, which directly send the spell's effects throughout the whole body. It only works on those who are defenseless, and someone who knows about it only needs to plug up their ears to avoid the spell. Rando says that Yusuke couldn't have known that.

Yusuke gets up and says he hasn't been hearing anything right for the last few minutes. He removes a large clump of pond scum from one of his ears, and Rando can't believe it. Genkai tells him that by sticking to only stealing other people's techniques, and not fully grasping the essence of any of them, he has lost.

Rando says he'll just undo the spell and return to normal, but Yusuke stands before him. He asks him if he looks like the kind of guy who's gullible enough to calmly wait around for that. He says he might no be able to throw a single punch, but he can fall over him. Rando starts to run, but Yusuke defeats him with a finishing elbow drop.

Yusuke says he can't get up, he has no power left at all. Botan says he really hung in there, as he asks Genkai how was that? He might look disgraceful at the moment, but for now, he's won! Genkai announces that the successor to her secrets shall be Yusuke.

In the Spirit Realm, Koenma is pleased Yusuke did it, and says this was the ideal training for him. He looks forward to seeing the forthcoming activities of spirit detective Yusuke Urameshi. He then realizes he has his own forthcoming activities: dealing with all of the stacked up papers that have piled up whilst he's been watching the tournament.

Genkai heals Kuwabara with her own powers, as Botan tells Yusuke she will take in Rando. Genkai says she's finished, and Kuwabara should regain consciousness soon. She's healed all the injuries in his body, including any broken bones. Yusuke is surprised she could do that, but Genkai says her spirit wave is primarily meant to be used this way.

Yusuke finds the strength to get up, and says his duty is complete. As he was promised, he's off to the Tokyo Dome, for the World Combat Sports meet! Botan is surprised he's remembered that, but he tells her of course he has -it's the reason he went through with all this! But Genkai tells him to hold it -what's he talking about?! She told him, she's going to hand over her secrets to him. Which means she's going to start teaching him the foundations of the spirit wave technique. And that means, for the time being, he's going to be training here. As Yusuke collapses again, Genkai says there's really no helping him.

My hellish training with Auntie Genkai is over and all, and here I thought I was going to be able to take it easy for a bit, but what's this? Another case? The heinous Four Saint Beasts of Demon City are after the Human Realm?! What pests! I'll show them the fruits of me training! Next time: The Four Saint Beasts in the Labyrinthine Castle!
