Yusuke fires blast after blast of demon energy, but it can't break through Yomi's wall technique. However, something starts to change with Yusuke's blasts.

They start to graze Raizen. Kurama realizes that Yusuke is mixing his shots of demon energy with spirit energy, and the spirit energy is able to break through the barrier. Koenma says only Yusuke could fire a blast like that.

The demonkin markings on Yusuke's body vanish, and Yomi starts taking multiple hits. Yusuke then fires a massive spirit gun shot, which hits Yomi and causes a huge explosion.

The explosion can be seen all the way from Gandara. As the fire and smoke dies down, Yusuke walks through it, as does Yomi.

Yomi tells Yusuke that felt great, his mind went completely blank. Yusuke told him he'd get hooked on it. As Koto comments that both contestants are alive and well, Yusuke and Yomi resume their fight.

Yomi hits Yusuke with another projectile, which sends him flying through a forest and smashing through a few trees. Yomi keeps up with him, hitting him with another projectile blast, this time at close range.

Yusuke is sent crashing through a mountain, but recovers and clashes with Yomi in the air. The two exchange some punches and kicks.

Yomi knocks Yusuke back, and creates a stream of energy. It hits Yusuke and sends him crashing back into the arena, with enough force that he breaks through it.

As Yomi looks at the crater he'd just made, Yusuke flies up from behind him. He uses his shotgun technique, sending out many blasts of spirit energy. They hit Yomi and cause an explosion in the air.

Yomi survives, and he and Yusuke return to the ground. The demons watching root for both Yusuke and Yomi.

Mukuro tells Hiei that it looks like this is about to be settled. Hiei says Yusuke didn't have a chance of winning this in the first place, as he is now. Mukuro says it looks like Yusuke still isn't ready to give up. Kurama says Yomi isn't planning on holding back his power, either. Hiei thinks there is only one thing on Yusuke's mind. Yomi wonders why Yusuke is still wanting to fight.

Kuwabara says it's obvious: Yusuke is thinking only of knocking Yomi flat. Kurama has to do a double take, thinking he just heard Kuwabara, but realizes he's not there. Yusuke thinks about his friends, and hears Genkai telling him he's not alone, and who it is he's fighting for. He then hears Koenma and Botan cheering him on.

He thinks of everyone else, and then...

...a new energy emits from his body. Kurama and Hiei think that's Sensui's sacred light energy, but Koenma says it's something utterly different. The light dies down, but Yusuke's fists are now covered with a blue aura. Yomi unleashes his own demon energy around himself.

Yomi says he's started feeling like he wants this fight to go on forever. But he knows that, just as Yusuke does, that no matter what the festival, the end must come sometime. He tells Urameshi to come on.

The two resume fighting, and Yusuke hits Yomi in the face. He tries to follow it up with another punch, but Yomi dodges it and then strikes back.

As they continue to fight, the crowd start to chant Urameshi and Yomi's names. Hokushin thinks that Urameshi is truly an amazing person.

As the two continue, they make one final charge at each other. Yomi's final punch hits Yusuke in the face...

...but Yusuke's punch hits him. The force of their attacks creates a massive column of energy, and for a few seconds, the two remain still.

However, Yusuke then falls. As the light dies down, Yusuke has fallen, whilst Yomi remains standing. Yusuke can hear Koto starting her count to ten.

Yusuke gets up on the ninth count... only to then find himself in a hospital bed, with a nurse telling him that he's come around. He wonders where he is.

Chu and the others then walk into the room, asking him if he's alright. Yusuke asks what happened, and Jin explains that he lost. Toya explains to him that he's been out for a week since the fight ended. Suzuki says they thought it was going to be a draw, but Yomi held out. Chu says it was if Shura's cheering kept Yomi up. During the final punch, Yomi also started to fall...

...but Shura screamed out for his father. Yomi managed to keep himself standing, whilst Yusuke collapsed.

Jin says it was still an awesome fight. Suzuki says that after that, the tournament really kicked into full swing. Yusuke asks what happened at the tournament, but Kurama then walks in and explains that it's over. He takes Yusuke out to the tournament stadium.

There, Koto is telling everyone that many battles and a number of exceptional matches have taken place here, but now, the Demon Realm admits the tournament victor, Enki, to its throne! Yusuke asks what happened to Yomi, and Kurama explains that he lost in the next round. He apparently spent too much energy on his fight with Yusuke, so there wasn't much he could do. Yusuke then asks about Mukuro, and Kurama says she was able to defeat Natsume, but then lost to Enki in the semifinal. Enki then takes the mic and says he's standing here now because of his knack for getting good match ups, and not entirely because of his ability. He announces that he will reign over them all for the next three years as champion.

When the demons realize this means there will be another tournament in three years, a lot of them get fired up. Enki then says he has decided there will only be one fundamental law that he will establish for the three years: there shall be no trouble to be caused to the Human Realm. He explains he hasn't decided on anything definite, but he believes they should go forward with neither side making waves with the other. He'll setup the particulars in an upcoming committee meeting...

...and will have a bill drawn up and proclaimed within the week. Yusuke looks around and says he can't see Yomi anywhere. Kurama says Yomi left on a journey, right after his defeat in the fifth round. Earlier, Yomi told Kurama that in order to make Shura even stronger than Urameshi, he thought it was best that they go on a journey of training.

Shura didn't think Urameshi was that great anyway, and he intended to become even stronger than his father -and Kurama too, of course. Yomi asked Kurama to tell Urameshi something once he wakes up: fighting with him was most enjoyable, and he'd never had to exert himself like that before. And the next time they fight, there's no telling what will happen. As Yomi and Shura left, Yomi told Kurama that he was glad they met up.

Back in the present, Enki says that that's the end of his speech. Later on, Jin tells Yusuke they'll be seeing him in another three years. Chu says they'll train here in the Demon Realm, and win against him next time for sure. Toya thinks fighting is all Chu thinks about. Suzuki says he's surprised the tournament went by so amicably, but it was still a lot of fun. Toya asks Kurama what he's going to do.

Kurama says he's going home, to the Human Realm. Everyone says their goodbyes, and walk away. Later on, Kurama is walking in a forest, when he sees Hiei waiting for him. Hiei asks where Yusuke is, and Kurama says he said he was going to make a quick stop before going home. Hiei finds out that Kurama is going back home, and so tosses him...

...his hirui stone. Kurama catches it and looks at it, and says he's glad Hiei feels this way about him, but he can't accept this. His tastes don't lean that way. Hiei says who said anything about giving the stone to him?! Kurama says he was joking, he knows he wants him to give this to Yukina.

Hiei says that's right, and also wants him to tell her that her brother is dead. Kurama asks why he can't return it himself, and Hiei says he's staying in the Demon Realm. That will put an end to her senseless brother hunt. Kurama tells him he should be the one who returns it to her, no matter how many years it takes. Hiei realizes he's right, and takes the stone back. He thinks Kurama sure is unaccommodating...

Yusuke sees Koenma. Koenma says that first, Yusuke was able to be one of the Demon Realm's three great powers in under a year, and then he drags the entire Demon Realm into this tournament -he sure likes to do things big. Yusuke tells him not to flatter him so much, it's embarrassing. Koenma says he's not trying to flatter him -his actions could have led to a great war, involving the Demon, Spirit and Human Realms! But there is a rule now, for at least three years. The Demon Realm will probably go on changing. He's about to tell Yusuke about what he did here was good, but Yusuke cuts him off.

He says he didn't think about anything, as he couldn't think up anything so complicated -so the method of fighting one on one was just the quickest way to deal with it all. He's had so many fights, some of them have left a bad taste in his mouth. Like that idiot Kuwabara, there are some of them who just won't understand each other unless they fight. Koenma says that one day, the time may come where all three Realms become one. And in any case, he tells Yusuke that he's fired. Yusuke says he thinks he'd been fired for quite a while now. Koenma says they probably won't see each other for a bit. Yusuke tells him that's right, and says goodbye to him -he's still got some things to take care of.

As he walks off, Yusuke stops, turns around, and tells Koenma the form he's in now suits him better. As Koenma gets embarrassed, he calls Yusuke a moron. Yusuke laughs and runs off.

As Botan walks walks up, Koenma thinks Yusuke is always such a cheery guy. Botan thinks that's one of the good things about him. As Yusuke runs out of the stadium, the narrator has something to say. One battle had come to an end. However, as long as people live, they must continue to fight against something. And no one can forfeit his own fight. As Jorge is revealed to be the narrator, Koenma asks him what is he talking about with such a straight face?

Jorge says it's the narration. Meanwhile, Yusuke returns to his father's grave. After staring at it, he hears Raizen's voice. Yusuke tells his father it's over, but he did flat-out lose. Raizen scoffs at him thinking he would win -he's about 300 years too early. He asks Yusuke what he'll do now. Yusuke says it's obvious -train for the rematch. Raizen asks him if he's planning on going on a journey. Yusuke thinks that would be nice.

Raizen says the Demon Realm is exceedingly vast. Yusuke says that for now, he's heading home, as he made a promise. He tells Raizen he'll see him around, and walks off. But he says he'll be back. As he walks off, he sees Hokushin and a few other monks waiting. He tells them he's got his hands full with his own matters, but he will be back here before long -probably.

Hokushin says they understand, and will continue to devote themselves to their training, looking forward to that day. They then disappear in an instant. Yusuke looks up at the sky.

Taking their various thoughts to heart, everyone set off on the paths of their own finding. And as for Yusuke...
