Synopsis
Hoist witnesses a car chase, but it's all for a movie. He becomes popular with the film crew when he rescues some stunt men from a crash, so much so that the movie director wants him to star in the film. Meanwhile, Dirge returns from Cybertron with something of Wheeljack's, but he crashes into the movie studio. Megatron sends Astrotrain, Thrust and Ramjet to go and rescue Dirge and retrieve Wheeljack's device. At the studio, Hoist is ready to start filming, but the director has already forgotten who he is. Things get worse for Hoist when more Autobots show up, all wanting to star in the movie. The director makes use of them all, but has them perform crashes in their vehicle modes, whilst Hoist gets sent to retrieve them after each scene. The Autobots quickly tire of this and decide to quit.
The Decepticons get to the studio and retrieve the device. They are seen and filmed, and whilst Thrust and Ramjet destroy a camera, the footage is seen by the director. The Decepticons return to their base where they attempt to use the device, but it doesn't work. Megatron then finds out the Decepticons were filmed, so they head back to the studio to destroy the footage. Meanwhile, the director is so impressed with the Transformers that he decides to completely change his film, making it a science fiction story. The Autobots go back to work, happy that they actually get to act now -although their roles as the evil alien robots require them to wear goofy masks.
The Decepticons arrive at the studio and take the film reels with footage of them on it. But Soundwave mentions the film negative hasn't been found yet. As they start searching for that, Spike and Carly watch some of the footage, and realize the Decepticons are up to something. They Decepticons then find them and start chasing them around the studio. Spike and Carly eventually find Hoist, and explain what's going on. He tells them to follow him.
The Decepticons find Spike and Carly, but Megatron sees they're about to be dumped into a pot of lava by Hoist. Megatron thinks Hoist is bluffing, only for Hoist to immediately let Spike and Carly drop. Only caring that the film negative has been destroyed, Megatron and the Decepticons withdraw. It turns out that the lava pot was just part of a movie set, and both Spike and Carly are totally fine. Later on, Wheeljack drops by and watches the footage, where he reveals that the device of his the Decepticons took doesn't even work. The director tells Hoist that was a fine piece of acting he did back there, and he'd like to work him in as the leading man in his next film. Hoist says thanks but no thanks, as his duty as an Autobot comes first, no matter how unglamorous a role it may seem. The rest of the Autobots enthusiastically agree with him.
