Synopsis

The Mayor of Central City opens a new solar energy facility which had been donated to him by his opponent, Shawn Berger. Some Decepticons attack the plant, but Berger, who has been watching, reveals the plant has hidden defenses. The Decepticons start destroying his tanks, but the Autobots then arrive and make the Decepticons retreat. Berger is frustrated with the Autobots, believing them to have gotten in his way. He is then captured by Laserbeak and taken to Megatron, who explains to him that he has been deceived -the Autobots are evil, whilst Decepticons are good. Megatron wants Berger to use his power and influence to make the people understand. Berger wants proof of the Autobot's deception. The next day, Berger goes to an oil field via helicopter.

There, he sees the Autobots stealing fuel, using it to fill energon cubes! The Decepticons then arrive and defeat the Autobots. Berger has filmed the entire thing and now believes Megatron was telling the truth. The Autobots head to a ceremony, but Berger has his evidence tape played, showing the Autobots doing bad things. The tape then has Megatron explain that Decepticons have sometimes acted irrationally on occasion due to the Autobots using a device to make them go bad. The tape then shows a clip of Optimus Prime stating that once the Decepticons are vanquished, they'll claim Earth! Whilst Prime believes the people won't believe this clearly faked footage, it turns out they do. The Autobots return to base, but are later arrested and made to stand trial.

Spike investigates the footage and finds out what really happened -the Autobots at the oil field were actually Decepticons in disguise! He takes the tape showing this, but is then followed by Ravage. Meanwhile, at the trial, the Autobots are sentenced to be banished from Earth. Forced onto a spaceship that Berger's company have constructed, the Autobots head into space, heading to Cybertron. But Megatron goes to the Autobot HQ and reprograms Teletraan I to change the ship's course, putting it on collision course with the sun!

Notes

-SCRIPT DIFFERENCES: Click here for details.

-Usually, the Decepticons have to have Soundwave create the empty energon cubes, but this episode has Starscream, Dirge, Thrust and Ramjet create their own.

Errors

-Wheeljack's chest is mostly colored red during this shot.
-Starscream is seen in the fake battle shooting down Wheeljack, but he's later revealed to also be the fake Optimus Prime.
-Megatron is mostly colored white with a dark gray face as he leaves Decepticon HQ.
-When Ramjet transforms and lands in the stadium, his face is colored white instead of gray.
-The trial of the Autobots makes no sense. The Autobots have no defense, there's no jury, and somehow the judge has the power to banish them from Earth!
-Megatron uses his cannon to get rid of the word "CYBERTRON" from Teletraan I's screen. But once the shot changes, "CYBERTRON" is back on the screen.
