Synopsis

Megatron's newest scheme involves using a massive drill to tap into the Earth's core. The operation is dangerous, with Starscream worrying that this could destroy them all. An Autobot patrol notices a couple of Constructicons outside and investigates, but Megatron has the Constructicons form Devastator and attack them. The Autobots get battered around, but eventually manage to trip Devastator up and escape. They go back to Autobot HQ, where Chip and Wheeljack have a plan to bring Devastator under Autobot control: by placing dominator disks on each Constructicon.

The Autobots head back to where the drill is, and discreetly deploy the dominator disks. The Decepticons attack and the Constructicons unite into Devastator, but the dominator disks are activated and he obeys the commands of Optimus Prime. The Decepticons end up being sealed in the cave where the drill is, but Megatron reveals to Starscream that he was aware of the Autobot's scheme. The Autobots and Constructicons return to base, where Hook makes some precise repairs to Jazz. The base then shakes, as the Autobots realize the Decepticons have resuming drilling. They head back to the cave, but Megatron uses a device which overrides the effects of the dominator disks, bringing Devastator back under Decepticon control. Another battle starts, but the drill then gets near the Earth's core, causing more shaking. Wheeljack tries using the dominator disks again, but this confuses Devastator, leading him to attack Autobot and Decepticon alike.

The Decepticons believe the Earth is doomed and attempt to use a hidden space bridge to escape, only for Devastator to smash right through it. Realizing they're now all in this together, Megatron cooperates with the Autobots. Wheeljack uses the dominator disks and the nullifier Megatron had used, so they can try combining frequencies to bring Devastator back under control. Wheeljack is successful, and Devastator is sent to stop the drill.

Devastator manages to destroy the drill just in time. But up above, the Decepticons have already fled. Devastator heads back up, and demands to know what the Autobots have done with noble Megatron. Chip explains that Megatron is busy saving his own neck, but Devastator doesn't believe him, and instead says Megatron withdrew to fight the Autobots another day -they haven't heard the last of him. Devastator then also withdraws by smashing through the cavern. Chip was hoping Devastator would join the Autobots for good, but that was probably a dumb old dream. Prime tells him to hang onto his dreams -the future is built on them.

Notes

-SCRIPT DIFFERENCES: Click here for details.

-This was AKOM's third and thankfully final episode they animated for the second season of Transformers. But they'll be back big time for the third season.

-This is the first appearance of a space bridge in the second season, and they seem to work slightly differently than they did before. In the first season, the Decepticons had to get data about what time the space bridge would appear and when it could be used, but in this episode it's implied that they can use it whenever they need to.

Errors

-There are a few times in this episode where Prowl is colored dark gray, making him look more like Bluestreak.
-Devastator hits Skywarp, but when the shot changes, it's Thundercracker shown getting hit.
-When Chip says they did it, Wheeljack has a red roof instead of white.
