Synopsis

Chip informs the Autobots about a meteorite, which hits the Earth. Optimus shoots a piece of it off so Wheeljack can study it. He also has the Dinobots guard the meteorite, whilst he and the other Autobots head back to base. Meanwhile, Megatron orders Soundwave to find out the Decepticon's weaknesses. Soundwave finds out that Slag just wants to fight, Grimlock considers himself stronger than Optimus Prime, whilst Sludge only follows the strongest leader. Megatron goes to the Dinobots and convinces them that they should destroy Optimus Prime. Grimlock decides he's the new leader, so the Decepticons take the meteorite and leave.

Optimus has decided to have two more Dinobots created, so the Autobots work hard on designing them. Wheeljack makes an alarming discovery with the meteorite fragment -it's dangerously unstable, so Trailbreaker puts a force field around it as it explodes. Realizing how dangerous the meteorite is, Optimus goes back to where it and the Dinobots are. Meanwhile, the Autobots finish their work on the two new Dinobots: Swoop and Snarl.

Optimus finds that the meteorite is gone. Instead, the Dinobots attack him. He fights them but gets beaten, but Grimlock stops Slag from destroying him. Instead, they take Optimus to where Megatron is. The Decepticons are making energon cubes from the meteorite, unaware of how unstable it is. Megatron is frustrated that Optimus hasn't been destroyed. Optimus tries to warn Megatron about the meteorite, but Megatron believes he's lying. However, one of the energon cubes explodes, causing a chain reaction which destroys the rest of them.

Snarl and Swoop arrive and fight the other Dinobots. The meteorite is about to explode with Grimlock right next to it, but Optimus pushes him out of the way just in time. The explosion damages everyone, ending the fight between the Dinobots. Realizing they were tricked, Grimlock is about to attack Megatron, but the Decepticon leader orders a hasty retreat. Grimlock asks if Prime can forgive him, as he was jealous of him. Prime shakes his hand and says that the meteorite menace is gone, so they can roll for home!

Notes

-SCRIPT DIFFERENCES: Click here for details.

-Trailbreaker uses his force field again, but this time he spins around really fast to use it. He's never had to spin to use it before.

-Two new Dinobots are introduced in this episode, completing the team. As with the other Dinobots, their toys weren't available until 1985, whilst this episode aired late on in 1984, once again giving fans a sneak-peak at what was going to be on store shelves soon.

-The Swoop toy had a red chest, but in the cartoon, Swoop's chest is blue. It seems his character model was based on his pre-Transformers Diaclone version, which did have a blue chest.

-Grimlock's head has been altered when compared to what it looked like in S.O.S. Dinobots:

Episode 10

Old version is on the left, the new version is on the right. Personally I prefer the new version, which is what would be used in most future episodes, although the old design sometimes also makes an appearance.

Errors

-When the Autobots take cover from the meteorite, Ratchet's shoulder red crosses are missing.
-It's funny how Prime tells everyone how dangerous the meteorite is, only for him to then immediately shoot at it to break a fragment off!
-As the Autobots head back to base, Prime's trailer insignia is missing.
-Soundwave's chest insignia is missing during this shot.
-Slag's chest insignia is missing when he first starts firing at the Decepticons.
-Sparkplug's document is titled Out Line Plan "Desge" instead of "Design".
