While training in Japan, Ryu received an unexpected letter. It was from Ken, his old friend whom he had not seen in years. It only read "Ryu, come to America". Ryu flew to San Francisco, where the two reunited. Out in the city that night, they wound up tangling with a rough bunch from the air force. They finished first, but weren't as prepared for their next encounter.
Another air force guy walks into the Mount Fuji pub. He sees his men have been beaten up, and then sees Ryu and Ken. He asks them if they did this to his men.
Ryu tells Ken it looks like they've got another taker here, and goes up to challenge him. The guy tells him he ought to be doing his homework, or studying. Ryu says he'll show him what he studies.
He dashes forward and grabs the guy, and attempts to throw him. But all he ends up doing is taking his jacket off.
Guile asks Ryu what's the matter -is class over? Ryu immediately goes to attack him, but no matter what he does, he can't land a single attack on Guile, who keeps dodging around.
He tries a jump kick, but ends up crashing into a table. As he wears himself out, Guile says youngsters like him run out of steam before they get started... but he could kick his ass all night!
Ryu charges again, only for Guile to stop him in his tracks with one punch. Guile tells him to buzz off, and not come back, hitting him with a backhand.
Ryu is sent crashing into another table. Guile tells his men they'll get out of here, as they need a bar that doesn't attract a unsavory riffraff, like school boys. But they then notice that Ryu is back up, and says it'll take more than one lucky punch to keep him down.
Guile tells him if he doesn't want to get hurt, he should play dead and not get up. Ryu attacks anyway, but Guile doesn't mess around, and lands several powerful blows on him.
Ryu is thrown into the bar, but still manages to get back up. He tries another jump kick, which Guile blocks. Ryu goes for another kick, but Ryu grabs his leg, and slams him into the floor.
Guile then throws Ryu into a wall, but even then, Ryu still gets back up and resumes his attack. Guile manages to get him in a hold, and tells him he can either knock off this kamikaze crap right now, or he'll crush his shoulder into pulp. What's it going to be?
Ryu responds by kicking off the bar, causing them to both fall down. As they get up, Ryu charges into Guile, pinning him against the bar. Guile responds by landing several punches on Ryu.
He finishes him off with a somersault kick, which knocks Ryu down. He then asks Ken what his story is -does he always stand on the sidelines and watch his buddy get the tar beaten out of him? Ken says he's wrong, they follow a code and only fight one on one with somebody, instead of ganging up like Guile's military meatheads.
Everyone then notices Ryu is back up. Guile says he has to hand it to him -he's got guts. He then tells his men they'll go, and they leave the place. Ryu then collapses.
Later on, Ken and Ryu head back home. Ryu says that guy was a freak, and Ken agrees. He then asks Ryu if he's ever seen a zombie movie, and Ryu says he doesn't think so. Ken says he'll show him as soon as they get back to the house. Ryu tells him to take it easy on the bike, as his body aches all over. Ken instead speeds up and does a wheelie.
The next morning, Ryu is resting in bed. But Ken is busy training hard in the dojo. He thinks about what the guy who beat up Ryu said last night.
He tells the air force trash that he'll give them a fight. Later on, he heads to an air force base, and tells the guard he's here to see a buddy of his. He gives his name, but the guard says he can't find a Ken Masters on the list. Ken says he just came by here to surprise his buddy, but the guard says he can't let him on the base unless his name is on the list. Ken says no problem.
He walks back to his bike, and makes a phone call. Moments later, the guard is informed about something, and immediately goes up to Ken. He tells Mr. Masters that he's welcome on the base at any time.
Ken goes in, and finds a woman called Dorothy. He tells her he's trying to locate a guy, and says he can't recall his name. But he hangs out at a bar called Mount Fuji, is really built, has a brush cut, and he fights like a son of a... Dorothy tells him he's described half the men who are stationed here. She tells him to check the gym, but warns him it can get ugly if you aren't a regular. Ken says he hasn't seen anything ugly yet, and whilst Dorothy tries to give him directions to the gym, he asks if they could get some coffee.
They head off, but Ken then sees something on a wall: a news clipping of Guile. He finally finds out the the name of the guy, and Dorothy says Guile just transferred here. She says he won a gym-sponsored fighting competition, which surprised the entire air force. She asks Ken how he knows him, and Ken says he happens to be Guile's fighting trainer.
Elsewhere, a hung over Guile gets up, and someone asks him how many bars he hit. Guile says two, and he got into a fight with some crazy punks at Fuji's. He goes to the gym, but can't even start anything. His friend tells him he should go back to bed, and Guile agrees. Guile gets up, but before he can go, someone appears in the doorway.
It's Ken, who says Guile knows why he's here. He's given him time to rest, now it's time to finish what they started last night. Everyone goes outside, and Ken says it's time to rock. He goes on the attack, as Guile evades or blocks his moves.
Ken seems to have the advantage, as Guile isn't getting the chance to fight back. But Guile turns things around when he throws some sand into Ken's eyes. Ken says that's a dirty trick, but Guile tells him they don't play by any rules in a street fight.
Later on, Ken wakes up back at his home, having been beaten by Guile. Ryu tells him he's slept for half the day, and tells him to look over there. Ken sees some flowers, and wonders who they're from.
Ryu says they are from some woman called Dorothy, who left a note. The note says she warned him. As Ken gets up, he finds he can't even eat anything due to his mouth being so torn up. Ryu tells him to give it a day to heal up, and thinks after seeing his face like this, he could star in a zombie movie. Later, Ken says they really haven't accomplished much here. All they do is train, fight and win every tournament, so they may as well not even compete, as there's no challenge any more.
Ryu thinks it's strange he got taken down by a freak within hours of him arriving here. He's never seen anyone fight quite like Guile did, and Ken says he hasn't either. Ken says he's entered a lot of tournaments, but you won't find someone like Guile at competitions -he's a street fighter. Ryu says they claim to be fighters, but they don't even compare to them. Street fighters don't consider losing an option. It's a huge world, and they can only guess how many true street fighters like Guile there are.
Ken tells Ryu it'll never happen again. He gets up and says they'll go for it -the two of them will head out and travel the world. It'll be their own personal quest to search for all the underground street fighters around the globe, it could be one hell of an adventure! He asks Ryu what does he say, as they've got nothing to lose.
Sometime later, Ryu and Ken are onboard a plane. Elsewhere, people are going about their usual lives, like Rinko,...
...Somabito and Guile. The plane continues to fly.
(And so, our journey begins.)
