Synopsis

Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling come across a mass of people trying to flee the land via boat. Donovan and Anita are among them, but when an incident causes Anita to use her power, the villagers almost attack her. They stop when Donovan gets in the way, and he and her then head back to Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling. The sisters explain why they are searching for that light.

Centuries ago, their mother was chosen to stop the dark ones, who were converging on the emperor's castle. As the dark ones began their attack, she used a special technique called igyo tenshin. This destroyed them all, but at the cost of her own life, condemning her own soul to eternal suffering.

She had told her daughters that she did not want them choosing the same path, and wanted them to lead simple lives. But after witnessing what she did, Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling wanted to save her from her own sacrifice. Back in the present, Morrigan visits Demitri, having found out about the Huitzil robots. When a civilization reaches its apex, they destroy it, and they must now consider Demitri the greatest threat that society has to offer. Demitri attacks Morrigan, and tells her to go back to the Demon World and tell the fools there that his return has been but delayed. As Morrigan leaves, Demitri tells his butler he will delay his attack on the Demon World in order to deal with whoever it is who has challenged him here.

Elsewhere, Felicia is frustrated that nobody is going to her show. She senses some Huitzil nearby and attacks them, but is nearly killed herself. She is saved by Jon Talbain, a werewolf Darkstalker. Talbain tells her weak Darkstalkers, like herself, should know their place and stay out of trouble. As Felicia passes out, he leaves.

Felicia wakes up and finds herself in a small hospital. She meets a doctor, who tells her that people are trying to get out of town via train. However, a mobile cannon arrives, and its commander tells the people they don't need to flee now that they're here to protect them. He says that must have jurisdiction over the railway. Felicia, not knowing about these developments, heads out on her own train, intending to help evacuate the people. However her train is fired on, and she is captured.

The commander believes she is responsible for what has happened, but she says she had nothing to do with it. Later on, more Huitzil arrive at the town, and begin to attack it. They want to exterminate all human life forms, and they destroy the mobile cannon. The doctor finds and frees Felicia, and whilst he suggests they escape by heading to some fields, she goes her own way.

She takes control of another train, which is pulling several ammo canisters. Talbain appears and helps her out, as they lure the Huitzil away from the city. Talbain lights a fuse, and then he and Felicia run off the train just as it heads into a tunnel. The canisters explode, and the Huitzil are destroyed. Talbain asks how a Darkstalker comes to care for human lives. Felicia says there are those who are willing to understand them, if you give them the chance.

Meanwhile, Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling say goodbye to Donovan and Anita, and drive off. Donovan thinks that even if those two do save the soul of their mother, they'll only condemn their own two souls to suffer the eternal darkness in her steed. But the belief they have that they can somehow manage to do it must be the source of their strength. Anita calls them weak, and says all they are is nice. She thinks they will die, and starts crying. Donovan calms her by calling out her name, and says that she cast away her emotions to protect herself. She has once shown him anger and sadness, perhaps he will help her remember what it is to feel happiness next. Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling are still on their way, but then happen to look behind them. In the distance, Donovan and Anita are seen walking towards the source of the light.
