Synopsis

On Earth, vampire lord Demitri has been revived, and is ready to begin his attack on the Demon World. In the Demon World, Morrigan finds out about Demitri's plans, killing two of his minions who were trying to steal a key. Back on Earth, the humans gather together. Demitri has blocked out the sun, and they decide to attack him when he makes his move.

Elsewhere, Felicia meets Raptor, a heavy metal rocker who is about to start his concert. But when he goes out on stage, he is attacked by some cultists who try to burn him with flamethrowers. He quickly defeats them and takes their souls.

Demitri opens the gate to the Demon World, and starts to head towards it via an airship. Morrigan intercepts him, and the two begin fighting. The two seem evenly matched, but their battle is interrupted by the arrival of several Huitzil robots, who have been programmed to attack and destroy life forms of great power. Morrigan and Demitri start fighting the robots, and eventually wipe them all out. Demitri wonders who could have used these robots against him.

Morrigan and her aides head back to the Demon World. Meanwhile, a village is visited by a traveling circus act. Two of the act explain to a priest that they found a young girl, Anita, in a town which had been totally destroyed by the Darkstalkers. Anita seems to have some kind of power, and they decided they couldn't just leave her at the village.

Outside the church, some kids rummage through the circus act's belongings, and find a rifle. They are going to steal it, but they see Anita has seen them. One of the kids takes Anita's doll and throws it. He decides to show her what'll happen if she talks, but before he can fire, Anita suddenly runs forward, pushing him back. He falls over and accidentally fires the gun. The shot is about to hit Anita, but she uses her power to stop it. The kids report what happened to the villagers. The villagers believe the circus group attract the dark ones, and they are all in danger. Most of them decide to kill the circus group, and head out to do so.

A short time later, most of Anita's group has been killed other than Anita herself. The villagers shoot at her, but their bullets are blocked. A vampire hunter called Donovan has arrived, and he uses a flaming sword technique which causes the villagers to flee. The priest is about to kill Anita, but then realizes he can't take the life of one who doesn't understand. Donovan says Anita does understand, only the emotion is missing from her eyes.

He swings his sword at her, cutting her doll's head off. He tells her to stop running, and choose to live. Anita says he has the eye of a dark one, and he explains half of his blood is of the dark. That half wants to plunge the world into madness, but his pure half will triumph over it. Anita's expression changes to one of anger, and she uses her power to pick up Donovan's sword and send it back at him. Donovan avoids being struck at the last moment. He tells her to say what she wants, but he is a vampire hunter, and he will rid this world of the dark. As he and her start to walk away from the village, a Huitzil appears. It locks onto Donovan and considers him an extermination target.

Notes

-The sound effect used for when Demitri's castle moves through the gate appears to be the same as one of the transporter sound effects used in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

-The outfit Morrigan wears where she first confronts Demitri is taken from one of her win poses in the games, but with red pants. This particular color combination would later be made available as a downloadable costume for Morrigan in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.

-The Huitzils are colored light blue, which is the character's default color in the second game. All other characters used their default colors from the first game.

-The credits sequence features the song "The Trouble Man", performed by Eikichi Yazawa. This song had previously been used in the Japanese Playstation port of the first game, along with the credits for the American Darkstalkers cartoon.

-The credits sequence features several shots of a guitar with various characters on it. One of the guitars has the names of the characters on it. The dubbed versions did not change this sequence, so the Japanese character names are still quite clearly seen. If you don't know the differences, here they are:
