The next phase of Devil Z's plan has begun. Behind the Earth's Moon, a group of Destrons continue construction work on a massive weapon.
On Earth, both Giga and Mega are surprised at their master's latest plan. Devil Z intends to wipe all human life off the Earth via a weapon in space. Finding their methods weak, and the increasing danger human beings present, he has come up with this final solution. Giga and Mega do not think such a method is required, but he says that their very existence could be threatened if they do not do something about the humans. He tells them that they shall be spared, and once the worthless humans are gone, the Earth shall become a new Destron kingdom.
Across the Earth, the Cybertron Pretenders are monitoring any Destron movements. At the Destron base, Hydra and Buster combine into Darkwings, whilst Giga and Mega unite their transtectors. They head into space, unaware that Grand Maximus is on patrol. He happens to pick them up on his ship's advanced radar systems.
He knows that no man-made objects could move at such a speed, and thinks that they must be transtectors. And they appear to be going into space. He contacts Ginrai and explains what he has seen, whilst also saying that he has not seen BlackZarak anywhere. It is possible the Destrons are planning something in space. Ginrai decides to get the other Godmasters together and says he'll meet up with Grand at a certain point. Meanwhile, the Destrons have entered space.
Inside Giga and Mega's transtectors, the Destron Headmasters Juniors wait. They realise they are in space now, but have no idea what the space attack is going to consist of. They do see the Earth out of a window, as Giga tells them to cast aside any feelings of elatedness in favor of fierce determination and willpower. Wilder asks what the plan is, but Giga says they will all find out when they need to. They soon come across the super weapon, and Mega explains that the small robots working on it are known as Guardminders.
Meanwhile, God Ginrai and Grand Maximus have also left the Earth. Inside Grand Maximus, the Cybertron Godmasters and Headmaster Juniors wait with Grand, as they try and find some kind of clue to what the Destrons are doing. One of the ship's sensors picks something up, and Grand says that a strong magnetic radiation is coming from in front of them.
As they clear the Moon, they see that Destron weapon. Giga moves out with Darkwings, and start firing at the Cybertrons. God Ginrai says he'll deal with them, whilst Grand and the others destroy that machine. Grand heads in towards it, as the Guardminders see his ship move in.
The leader unit says that BlackZarak cannot defend himself at the moment, so they must hold the Cybertrons off and protect both BlackZarak and the Death Para-machine. Lightfoot, Road King and Ranger don three of the four booster packs Grand has and head off towards the Guardminders, whilst the Headmaster Juniors are left to defend the ship.
Lightfoot and his team break through, but as they approach the weapon, some Guardminders left on it see them and transform. They transform into cannons, and start firing at the Cybertrons and prevent them from getting any close. Elsewhere on the weapon, Wilder wants to help the Guardminders, but almost floats off into space -as Cancer reminds him that he needs a booster pack for that kind of thing.
Grand looks at one of his computers and finds that the weapon's energy reading could mean that the Destrons intend to destroy the Earth's stratosphere. Devil Z is still in the Destron base on Earth, but is overseeing the battle. He decides to move things forward and tells BlackZarak to test the Death Para-machine now. BlackZarak starts a 10 second countdown, and with the Cybertrons unable to break through to the weapon, he finishes it. He charges a lot of energy...
...which is used by the weapon, which fires two massive beam shots at the Earth. The beams stop without hitting the planet, however, they do damage the atmosphere.
Across the planet, natural disasters happen. Increased heat melts the polar icecaps, whilst there is major flooding in the Himalayas. At an observatory, some scientists discover that the Earth's ozone layer has been damaged, which is causing these natural disasters. Hawk happens to be in this observatory and overhears them, but he knows that only Ginrai and Grand can save the planet now.
Back in space, Lightfoot's group destroy some of the Guardminders on the weapon, and combine their Choukon power. But even after hitting the weapon with this, they don't damage it. Devil Z tells BlackZarak to fire again, this time using 200% more energy.
God Ginrai sees that the Destrons are preparing to fire again, so he boosts away from Overlord, at such a speed that the Destron cannot catch up. He knows he has to destroy the machine, but BlackZarak is nearly ready, and has started a second countdown.
Overlord tries to stop God Ginrai, but Grand Maximus fires on him. God Ginrai continues towards the Death Para-machine, but BlackZarak finishes his countdown and fires. His energy transfers into the weapon, but God Ginrai is still on the way.
The weapon swirls with energy, but God Ginrai emits Choukon power from his entire body and goes through one of the weapon's barrels.
The weapons starts to explode, as God Ginrai bursts out of the back of it. He moves back and sees that he's done it -the weapon has not fired.
Several explosions send BlackZarak and the Destron Headmaster Juniors flying into space, so Overlord and the other Destrons retreat and go after them. The weapon continues to explode, but then something terrible happens -one of the weapon's barrels fires!
The shot hits Grand's ship, which loses power and tumbles towards the Earth. Grand tries to get things working again, but finds out that the tachyon energy converter has been damaged. At this rate they are going to burn up in the Earth's atmosphere.
Wasting no time, Shuuta grabs the last booster pack and heads out to where the energy converter is. He quickly fixes it, but when he does, the ship's engines suddenly activate and he falls off. His booster pack comes loose and burns up...
...but thankfully God Ginrai saves him. The damage to the Earth's ozone layer has been kept to a minimum, and Grand says it should return to normal in time. The Cybertrons have saved the Earth, but what could Devil Z be planning next?
NOTES
The Guardminder robots actually came with either the MegaZarak or BlackZarak toy - the grey Guardminder came with the MegaZarak toy and the yellow one came with the BlackZarak toy, although the toy version was gold, not yellow, and could break easily. In the USA the grey version is known as Fasttrack.
The way the Gigatank unites with the Megajet in this episode is something the writers made up, however, it is possible to do it with the Overlord toy.
During the panning shot of the Cybertrons near the end of the episode, Grand Maximus can be seen standing on his ship, in his smaller robot mode, for the first and only time in the series.
