Synopsis

Kakyoin convinces Polnareff to retreat for now, but the Hanged Man appears, and taunts Polnareff. Polnareff tries to fight him but nearly gets himself killed in the process, only saved thanks to Kakyoin blasting him out of the way with an emerald splash attack. He and Polnareff retreat in a truck, but the Hanged Man manages to chase after them, using various reflective objects to catch up. The truck ends up crashing.

Polnareff and Kakyoin get out of the wrecked truck, and figure out how the Hanged Man manages to move around. A kid appears, wanting to sell them medicine, but the Hanged Man appears in his eye. Knowing they won't attack the kid, the Hanged Man grabs Polnareff by the neck. But Polnareff kicks sand into the kid's eye, forcing the Hanged Man to leave it. As he does, Polnareff summons his Stand, and has it slice into the Hanged Man as he tries to jump into Polnareff's eye.

The Hanged Man is injured, and a scream is heard from some nearby ruins. Believing that's where the Stand user must be, Polnareff and Kakyoin head to the ruins. They find an injured man, but when Polnareff sees he doesn't have two right hands, they realize he's not J. Geil. J. Geil appears above them, calling them fools for rushing in without even knowing what he looked like. He yells out that these travelers are going to give away money, which leads to many beggars surrounding Polnareff and Kakyoin.

However Kakyoin flips a shiny coin up into the air, promising whoever picks it up can have it. All of the beggars look up, , and Polnareff quickly figures out where the Hanged Man is hiding. He kicks dirt into the eye of the relevant beggar, forcing the Hanged Man to move again. The Hanged Man has to move to the one thing everybody is looking at: the coin. As he goes, Polnareff has Silver Chariot slice him up before he can get into it. J. Geil is badly injured and falls, and starts begging for his life. Not wanting to grant him any mercy for what he did to his sister, Polnareff kills him.

Hol Horse arrives and sees what's happened, but before he can escape, Jotaro punches him down. Polnareff is going to kill him, but his woman appears, and she stops Polnareff from striking. Hol Horse gets onto his bike, and quickly makes his escape.

Later on, the group go to the grave they've made for Avdol. Polnareff tells everyone that Dio is a formidable enemy, so to beat him, they must join their hearts as one. Otherwise, Dio is sure to take advantage. As the group walks off, Polnareff tells Avdol to just watch -he will avenge him. Meanwhile, Enya realizes her son has died, and swears revenge. She feels her son's pain, and says she will make certain she'll kill the all with her own hands... by using her own Stand, Justice!

Manga Differences

-The scene showing Jotaro and Joseph finding Avdol's body was not in the manga.

-When Polnareff and Kakyoin enter the ruins, they don't encounter anyone else other than the injured beggar in the manga. In the episode, they run past several other people first.

-J. Geil appears far above Polnareff and Kakyoin in the manga, but in the episode, he appears close to them.

-Kakyoin tries to have his Stand use the emerald splash in the manga, but J. Geil tells him to hold it, as he summons all of the beggars. In the episode, it's Polnareff who tries to attack J. Geil instead of Kakyoin.

-In the manga, Hol Horse confronts Polnareff and Kakyoin outside the ruins, unaware that J. Geil has died. He shoots down some glass bottles and windows to give Hanged Man something to appear in, but eventually realizes J. Geil is dead. In the episode, Hol Horse goes to the ruins and keeps himself hidden from Polnareff and Kakyoin, having seen J. Geil's corpse.

-Hol Horse escapes on a horse in the manga, whilst in the episode, he gets away on his motorcycle.

-You do not see Avdol's grave in the manga like you do in the episode.

-In the manga, the woman who saves Hol Horse is also a Stand user, called Nena. She gets injured when Polnareff drags her forward, and Joseph gets some of her blood on his arm when he sees to her wound. This leads to her Stand, Empress, infecting Joseph. This story was not adapted for the OVAs.

-Incidentally, in the manga, Nena can disguise herself as a young woman, in reality she's an overweight and ugly woman. For the OVAs, Enya has a similar way of changing herself from a young woman to an old hag, as we'll see in future episodes.
