The Emperor and The Hanged Man

Jotaro's group have arrived in India. After being bothered by people begging them for money, they head inside a restaurant. Joseph was wondering what was going to happen to them when that crowd surrounded them. Kakyoin says he heard many of them saying "baksheesh" but didn't know what it meant. Avdol says it means "give me money".

Polnareff says this is one hell of a place. Avdol tells him that, once he gets used to it, he'll understand the goodness and depth of this country. Polnareff doesn't think he'll ever be able to get used to a place like this. He does like this "chai" tea though. Jotaro thinks this country is pretty interesting, but Polnareff thinks he can't be serious. Kakyoin says it's like the saying: "once you live in a place, it grows on you". Polnareff says he thinks Asian guys have no sense of beauty. He decides to go and use the rest room.

He goes into the rest room and thinks that it looks clean, as he'd expect from a restaurant. He thinks about how that now they're in India, they are getting closer... but he then sees something in the window behind him!

He turns around, but there's nobody there. He's certain he just saw a strange looking guy outside the window. He turns the tap off and looks at the mirror, but sees the guy in the mirror again!

The man at the window starts to come inside, but when Polnareff turns around, there's nobody there. He looks back at the mirror and can see the man... and can also see that...

...he has two right hands! The man reveals a blade and goes to strike, so Polnareff summons Silver Chariot, and has him shatter the mirror. The man in the mirror disappears, and Polnareff wonders where he went.

Polnareff wants to find the Stand user, and rushes outside. But there are too many people around, and he's not sure where to look. Avdol walks outside and asks him what's wrong, and Polnareff says he found the one who killed his sister. Avdol tells him to wait and calm down, as this could be a trap. Polnareff asks him if he's really telling him to wait. He and his sister lost their parents at an early age, and after that they did their best to live on their own. But then his sister was violated and murdered.

He says Avdol will never understand his feeling unless his lives through the same things. The group leave the restaurant and walk over a bridge, but Polnareff says he's going to part ways with them all. Now that he knows his sister's killer is nearby, he can't rest easy until he finds him. Joseph tells him that he doesn't know the killer's face, or the true nature of his Stand.

Polnareff says he knows that the killer has two right hands, which is good enough for him. Avdol warns him he's putting himself in danger, and Polnareff asks if he thinks he won't be able to beat the killer.

Avdol tells him it's dangerous for him to go up against an unknown Stand all by himself. Polnareff says he's heard that when Avdol met Dio before, he ran way because he was scared. He's fought all alone until now, and then tells the others that he doesn't care about Dio. He went along with them so he could seek his own vengeance.

Avdol tries to stop him, but Joseph says it's alright, and says they will let Polnareff go. Polnareff says he knew Mr. Joestar would understand, and says goodbye to everyone. As he walks off, a guy on a motorcycle pulls up nearby: Hol Horse. Hol Horse thinks that they've provoked Polnareff pretty well.

A woman walks up to Hol Horse, asking him what happened yesterday -she'd been waiting for him. He says he doesn't make promises, but she says she wants to stay with him for the rest of her life. He tells her not to be a fool, as she's only 16. She says she's old enough to marry, and she loves him. Hol Horse says he's just a drifter, who lives day to day, and is destined to die on the street. He gets off the bike, and tells her that she's from an honorable, aristocratic family -she shouldn't even be thinking of marrying him, even if they do love each other. The woman asks if he really loves her, and he says he does. But because he loves her, he shouldn't marry her. It breaks his heart to do this...

...but he promises he'll hold her like this from time to time. He tells her to go home, as her parents must be worried. As she leaves, he gets back on his bike. He thinks that was an unexpected nuisance, but then hears laughter. He thinks that his partner, J. Geil, must think he's making things complicated again. But he says that it's convenient to have women like that all over the world, as they'll do anything for him. J. Geil's Stand, the Hanged Man, appears, and laughs some more. Hol Horse tells him that Polnareff has gone off on his own, as they'd predicted. He thinks they should kill him first.

Hol Horse rides off, and passes by Polnareff. He stops in a town and tells a beggar to listen carefully: when someone asks him if he's seen a man with two right hands, he's to tell them that he saw someone on the street towards the outskirts of town. The beggar says he will, so Hol Horse gives him a coin.

Polnareff starts asking around about a man with two hands, but can't get any info from the villagers. Meanwhile, Hol Horse heads off to the outskirts of town, where he meets J. Geil -the man with two right hands. Hol Horse tells him everything is ready, and J. Geil says they now just have to wait until their prey steps into their trap.

A cobra approaches J. Geil, and Hol Horse sees it. He summons his Stand, the Emperor, and fires a single shot.

The bullet cuts the cobra in half. As its upper body passes over a bottle, J. Geil has his Stand slice it into pieces.

Hol Horse says that with their two Stands, they can kill them all. He rides off back to town. Meanwhile, Kakyoin has managed to get a truck for the group to use. Joseph says they should go.

Avdol thinks their enemy waited for when Polnareff was alone before showing up. He can't stop thinking that this was a ploy to lure Polnareff away. Joseph says that he agrees with the way he's thinking, and they can't leave things as they are when their friend might be in danger. He says they'll get in the truck, and find Polnareff! Meanwhile, Polnareff comes across a beggar, who tells him he saw a man with two right hands.

Polnareff asks him if he's sure, and the beggar says yes. He points out the street he saw him on. Meanwhile, Jotaro's group get stuck in traffic.

Joseph tells the others that Polnareff couldn't have gone that far, and suggests they'll have so split up to find him. Most of the group run off, but Avdol tells Kakyoin to remain with the truck. Meanwhile, Polnareff runs down the street the beggar pointed to.

He soon comes across Hol Horse. Hol Horse says that the gun is mightier than the sword, and thinks that's a nice saying. Polnareff immediately sees that Hol Horse doesn't have two right hands, so he's not the one he's looking for. He asks who he is.

Hol Horse introduces himself, and says he controls the Stand which represents the card of the Emperor. Polnareff says he doesn't care, as he's looking for a man with two right hands. Hol Horse thinks he's being selfish, as he just asked who he was, so he introduced himself. But he says he did come with that man, who should be around somewhere. Polnareff looks around, but can't see anybody else. Hol Horse laughs, and Polnareff demands to know where the other man is. Hol Horse laughs some more, and says that Lord Dio told him that Polnareff has a habit of underestimating the enemy, so he should be easy to beat. It seems those words are true.

Polnareff throws his bag down and says that if he has to beat Hol Horse to meet the man he's looking for, so be it. Avdol is running down a street, but then sense something. He hopes Polnareff won't do anything rash. Hol Horse asks Polnareff ig he knows of the game called soldier's chess. He says that a tank is stronger than a soldier, but weaker than a mine. Soldier's chess is a game based on the fundamental principles of battle.

In the case of his Emperor and Polnareff's Stand, the following rule applies perfectly: the gun is mightier than the sword. Polnareff asks him what he's getting at, and he says that Polnareff's sword can't beat his gun.

Polnareff asks him what was that -he can't beat his bum?! He thinks Hol Horse cracks him up, and both men start laughing. But Hol Horse stops laughing and says he'll kill him. He summons the Emperor...

...and fires a single shot. Polnareff wonders if Hol Horse thinks he can't strike down a bullet like that, and summons his Stand. He has Silver Chariot charge forward, but as he goes to strike the bullet, it suddenly changes direction, and goes around his rapier!

Polnareff thinks this is impossible, but Hol Horse reveals that even the bullet is part of his Stand. He thinks that Polnareff must not have expected that, which is too bad, because now it's going to cost him his life! But the bullet misses...

...thanks to Avdol pushing Polnareff out of the way in time. Avdol tells Polnareff he came back because he was worried about him, and just look at this mess! The enemy knows everything about them, so Polnareff can't win alone from now on. Polnareff can't believe he's still lecturing him. Hol Horse thinks this is some time for Avdol to interfere.

Avdol pushes Polnareff out of the way, and says the bullet is coming back -it's something Hol Horse can control at will. He says he'll burn it down, and summons Magician's Red. As he's doing this, Kakyoin pulls up in the truck. He gets out and sees something in a puddle -Avdol is about to be attacked!

Avdol suddenly gets stabbed in the back, just as the bullet heads straight towards his head. Nearby, Jotaro says he has a bad feeling.

Avdol has been killed, as the bullet has struck his head. Hol Horse thinks this is fortunate, as his gun and J. Geil's mirror don't get along with Avdol's flames. He thinks this is lucky, as in this game of soldier's chess, there are no pieces left for them to be wary of. Kakyoin looks at Avdol, and thinks this can't be.

Polnareff says Avdol liked to lecture others too much, and look where it got him. Kakyoin can't believe what he just said, as Avdol saved him. Polnareff says he never asked Avdol to do that, and he was such a meddler. A guy like that becomes a drag, which is why he said he wanted to do this alone. Kakyoin asks him if he even knows what he's saying. Polnareff turns around and says it's annoying... having people dying around him is so damn annoying!
