A young Maxwell arrives at the orphanage. He sees that this is his new home, and he asks Father Anderson why he has been taken here -why did his parents abandon him to the church? Is it because he is the son of a mistress? He then says he doesn't need his parents anyway, and he doesn't even need friends. He will become great, and when he does that, he'll have his revenge on all of those who've wronged him.

Maxwell then wakes up and finds out that Anderson and the other paladins who are in England already have captured Integra Hellsing. They've also fought against the last battalion. Maxwell sighs and says of course Anderson would go and do the latter, even after he told him not to engage the Nazis. He gets up and takes a look at the burning London. The others tells him that not since the Blitz has London known fear like this, and the number of dead currently isn't known, nor is it known how many undead ghouls there are there. Maxwell says God has punished them., and it serves them right.

He then finds out that part of American has also been attacked -the White House is in flames, as a Presidential aide turned into a vampire. This vampire killed the President along with murdering several members of the cabinet during a meeting. Their American Bishops are waiting for orders, but Maxwell says they are only to strike if the damage spreads. Otherwise, they won't be getting involved. They can use the confusion to their advantage, as he only cares about Britain, Hellsing and Alucard. The Vatican isn't even interested in the Major and his group, since they were bedfellows during the last war.

However Maxwell isn't that forgiving, and intends to destroy Millennium along with his other targets. They'll know a crusader's wrath, and on this night they will reclaim Britain from the monsters, for the glory of their almighty God. As Maxwell finishes his speech, his forces have arrived:.

There are 340 members from the Order of the Sword of Courland. From the Order of the Calatrava la Nueva, 188 members. 257 members from the Order of Santo Stephano di Toscana. And finally 2,457 members of the Order of Malta. Maxwell smiles as he takes this all in, but is the presented with a promotion from the Holy Father: Maxwell is to become the Archbishop. One of his new soldiers tells him that they have assembled into the Knights of the 9th Crusade. They are his to command.

Maxwell gladly accepts his promotion, saying he accepts it with all of his being. Their target is London, and they are to destroy it. A new era of Catholic might will now begin! The Knights of the 9th Crusade prepare to leave for London via helicopters.

As the knights leave, Maxwell laughs, thinking of what's happened. To think that he, someone who was once called a demon spawn and spat on by society would be made an Archbishop, and given an army...he continues to laugh. But then a young boy arrives with a report. Maxwell takes it and learns that the British aircraft carrier Eagle, reported to have taken heavy damage, is on the move. The ship is slowly making its way towards London at a speed of only a few knots, but it's definitely moving. Maxwell can't quite believe it, but then everyone knows that Alucard must be causing this.

However Maxwell then says it doesn't matter, let Alucard come. Hellsing, Millennium and Alucard will perish. All of his forces are to move out now, as their time as the tool of God's holy wrath has begun! As the helicopters all leave for London, the younger Iscariot member thinks that all of them are charging straight into Hell with a joyous heart. He thinks that all of them are going to die, and they'll thank God for this battle.

Out at sea, Alucard is still onboard the Eagle, which is still on its way to London. He says that smell is so familiar to him...the smell of men being impaled, the smell of women being cut down, the smell of babies burning to a crisp, the smell of the elderly being lined up and shot. It's the smell of war. He tells the Major that he's coming for him.

Above the skies of London, the Major contacts Zorin Blitz and tells her to go and attack. She and her forces head towards Hellsing headquarters in one of the airships at full speed. Meanwhile, Father Anderson cuts down the last Nazi who'd been sent after Integra.

He asks Heinkel how many of their own forces have been taken. She tells him they've lost around half of them, the Nazi's fought fiercely. She is about to have her forces burn the Nazi's bodies, when Integra starts to walk off. She points a gun at her and asks where she thinks she's going. Integra says she's going back to her mansion, as her forces are under attack and as their commanding officers, she needs to be there. Heinkel says that isn't going to happen, as she's in Vatican custody now. So Integra asks her to light her cigar. This comes as a surprise to Heinkel, who realizes it doesn't seem to matter that she has a gun pointed at her. She doesn't even seem to care about the position she's in, and asks again for her cigar to be lighted.

Heinkel reluctantly lights Integra's cigar, who then smokes it and says she's going home. They can shoot her if they wish, though. Yumie wants to cut her up with her sword, but Heinkel says no. But she's not good with dealing with these types, so Yumie suggests tying her up and taking her with them. Heinkel thinks that's stupid and says she wants to shoot her, when Integra pops up and reminds them she can hear everything they're saying.

Integra says that section 13 seems to want to tie her up and shoot her, but what does Anderson want? He says forcing an unarmed woman to act against her own will as a group is absurd. Integra is glad that they're of one mind, but she shouldn't walk home alone. Anderson agrees and says they'll go with her. Heinkel really doesn't know what they're doing or how Integra managed to get them all to do this. Yumie thinks Bishop Maxwell will be so angry when he finds out.

Anderson tells Heinkel to try and find them an automobile, as they're sitting ducks walking around like this. The other paladins ask Anderson if what he's done was wise, as his obedience will be called into doubt. He says it can be called into doubt, if they dare. Maxwell's methods don't sit right with him.

Meanwhile Zorin's airship is nearing Hellsing HQ. 24 V-1 rockets are fired from Millennium's flagship, but before they can reach their target, they are shot and destroyed.

Zorin has the airship's searchlights put on, and they reveal Seras, who's standing on the roof of the mansion. She's used her new weapon, the Harkonnen II. The Harkonnen II is a 30mm semi-automatic cannon, with a maximum range of 4,000 meters. Pip has seen what she's done and tells his ma chere that they're pulling out all the stops for this.

Seras asks him to stop calling her that, as she has a name: Seras. Pip apologizes and asks Seras if she can see London. Piccadilly Circus, Soho and Covent Garden have all been turned to ashes. The London they knew is gone, and has been replaced with this Hell. Pip admits he couldn't stand London, it always seemed like a stuffy old city to him. But when the boys dragged him out to this cabaret, the beer was always cold and tasty, which was good as the bartender was an idiot who liked dirty jokes. The hookers he saw were some of the ugliest women he'd ever seen, but they were all nice to them. There there was the lady who owned the restaurant on Versailles Road, who always gave him fish and chips, even though he hated it. He found it too greasy but he didn't want to offend her, so he'd always eat it, somehow.

Whilst he doesn't like London, the people in it had nothing to do with this conflict, or whatever it is. But now they're all dead, feasting on each other. That's something he can't accept, and says they he and Seras will avenge them together. Seras says they will, and starts firing on Zorin's airship.

The zeppelin takes heavy damage, and several of its engines are shot off. Some of the staff want to turn around, but Zorin says it's too late for that. She instead wants to crash-land straight into the mansion, but then decides to target Seras herself. Seras sees that her target is now heading towards her.

She swaps ammo and reveals the Harkonnen II's massive incendiary grenades, which she fires. They hit the zeppelin, which are too much for it to take. The crew lose control and end up crashing into a field some distance away from the mansion.

The Wild Geese watch it explode and celebrate, but Seras tells them it isn't over yet. Pip knows this also and tells his men to get ready, as the enemy is still coming. Sure enough, many of Zorin's force have survived without a scratch on them, and start to get out of the wreckage.

Pip reminds his men that they're facing monsters, not people. He tells Seras to come back inside and reload, so she leaves the roof. Meanwhile Zorin finds out how many troops she has left, and whilst she's lost over half her force along with all of their heavy arms, her remaining soldiers say that their spirits have never been higher. They ask her for orders, so she tells them to go in and kill them all.

The Nazis charge, but as they run across a field, several of them get blown up by mines. The place has been setup by the Wild Geese, who've planted lots of mines in the fields. When the Nazis realize this, Pip orders for his men to detonate the claymores, which are full of blessed ball bearings. These go off and kill many of the enemy.

Pip says that's what they get for underestimating them, and for also charging in. If they are going to play dirty, since they are vampires, then the least he and the Wild Geese can do is try to even the odds. They aren't the greatest fighting force, and fighting in the open can be messy. He tells his men to open fire and keep the leeches in the dirt. The Wild Geese start firing, with a mixture of bullets and mortars.

Pip's lieutenant comes in and tells him that the Nazis are no longer advancing, and are instead taking cover. Pip says they'll come out eventually, but for now, this'll do. They are playing a risky game, and if they let one of those Nazis get inside, it's over. Whilst usually a human enemy would retreat, he knows these monsters won't. As the Nazis continue to stay behind cover, Zorin starts to use a strange technique. An eye appears in one of her hands.

She strikes the ground and then suddenly, the mansion is covered in a shadow. The Wild Geese stop firing, so Pip goes to where Seras is to see what's happening. He finds everyone staring outside...

...at the giant form of Zorin! She's gone absolutely huge, and slices into the mansion with her scythe. The building crumbles and several Wild Geese are badly injured, some having their limbs cut off.

Zorin strikes the mansion again, causing more destruction and more injuries to the Wild Geese. As Seras watches, she thinks this can't be happening, and feels that somehow she knows this is wrong. Something inside her is telling her this. As she closes her eyes, she hears Alucard's voice. He says he'd told her about her "third eye". Her human eyes aren't to be trusted, as they'll only lie to her, plus she's no longer human anyway.

Seras opens her eyes and sees that what Zorin is doing hasn't even happened, she's caused some kind of illusion. The mansion hasn't been hit and none of the Wild Geese have been hurt, although they still believe they have. She tries to get them to snap out of it, but none of them respond to her. She instead picks up her gun and goes to one of the windows.

She fires several shots at Zorin, and one of the bullets cuts her face. This causes Zorin to end her incantation, and as soon as she does this, the giant illusion of herself crumbles to nothing.

With the giant gone, the Wild Geese come to their senses. Pip asks if she really wasn't there, and Seras tells him that's right, it was just an illusion. Outside, Zorin congratulates Seras are figuring her out, but it doesn't matter. They'll still die screaming! As the Wild Geese have stopped firing, its given then Nazis time to move in. Some of them jump up and smash through the windows.

They kill a couple of the Wild Geese until Seras shoots them down. The Nazis continue to charge, and arrive at the front of the house. The Wild Geese there try and stop them from coming in, but they've got rockets and they use them to blow down the front doors.

Pip says they need to gather together, and instructs for anyone who can to fall back to his position, bringing as many grenades and explosives as they can. He then tells Seras that he and the others will barricade themselves in here. She is to go off and shoot down the Nazis as they make their way towards the barricade. Seras wishes everyone good luck and is about to leave, when Pip says he almost forget one very important thing.

"SERAS! You must close your eyes!"

"..."

"..."

"?!"

"WAAAAAAAH!!"

Pip's attempts to get a kiss have been thwarted, and his men tells him what he did wasn't fair! He tells everyone calmly that it's time for them to go, but they want a kiss from Seras too, much to her chagrin. As the Wild Geese get a laugh out of this, Pip tells Seras not to die, and to come back to him -that's an order.

Seras says she will and runs off down a corridor. As the Wild Geese watch her go, they says she's quite a girl. Pip agrees, saying she's way too good for the likes of them. If she dies tonight, they are no longer men. They'll just be cowards, meant to go to hell. Whilst he hates to say this, he'll need their lives. Their posts are going to be their graves.

Some of the men point out this is the part where their Captain is meant to say that anyone who wants to run can, or tell them he'll sacrifice himself so they could flee. Pip reminds everyone that they became mercenaries for the fun of it. As they all agree on this, they walk off and get ready. Pip says they're going to go out guns blazing.

The Nazis continue into the mansion, killing anyone they find. Seras walks into a room where some of the Wild Geese have met their end in a horrific manner. Seras swears one thing -they'll pay for this!

NOTES

This episode adapts most of the manga's sixth volume. The post credits scene, where Seras comes across dead Wild Geese, isn't in the manga.

Kohta Hirano, the creator of Hellsing, has stated that the Harkonnen II was a pain for him to draw, so Seras doesn't get to use it that much.

The credits for this episode show a scene from an earlier part of the manga, where Seras and the Wild Geese take part in a target practice exercise. There is another additional scene showing Zorin looking at a photo of Seras with the Wild Geese, and making Seras her main target, which wasn't in the manga.
