A young Pip stands crying behind his grandfather. His Grandfather asks why he is crying, so Pip tells him it's because the children at school call him the son of a murderer, and that his whole family fights wars for money. His Grandfather says that that's the truth. The men of the family have been mercenaries for eight generations now. Pip's father died in Columbia. He knew he had a son on the way and needed cash for him, and got in way over his head. Pip asks his grandfather if he's ever killed people, and he says he has. Anyone who found himself at the end of his gun was fighting for something...should it be for a government, or for drugs, or whatever. The reasons can be good or bad, but a mercenary doesn't ask questions.

Fighting for money has always been a good enough reason for him. They get marched onto chessboards across the world, killing and getting killed for pennies. They fight for money because saying they fight for fun is just too horrible to admit. With a legacy like theirs, of course the others are going to pick on him at school. And whilst he's crying now, he's sure he'll come around one of these days. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Back in the present, many of the Wild Geese have fallen. The Nazis have entered the mansion, and quickly tear through anyone they find. Zorin Blitz then walks through the main hall.

Pip gets a report from another squad, who've lost many men and their route of retreat has been cut off. Pip says they need to get back to the round table conference room, as they are going to barricade themselves in it, but one soldier says they can't make it as they've all been wounded, they need to close the barricade now. The two say farewell to each other. Pip then orders for the barricade to be closed up.

The news of the other squad's death doesn't go down well with some of the Wild Geese, who begin to lose their cool. One of them thinks everything is pointless and that they'll all be killed. Integra and Alucard have sold them out. He wants out, but Pip tells him he's got nowhere to go, not that he'd let him leave anyway. This place is going to be their grave. Their epitaph will read that here lies the badass Wild Geese, who kicked Nazi ass for Queen and crumpets. But if he keeps up his whining, their epitaph will instead read that the Wild Geese died as gutless pussies who died pissing themselves crying like schoolgirls. Pip grabs the soldier and tells him to man up, as he takes the money because he likes it, he fights because he likes it, and now he's going to die because he likes it.

Elsewhere in the mansion, Zorin and her troops continue to advance, having seemingly wiped out their opposition. She thinks that it's a joke that these people are meant to be Hellsing's combat elites. As she walks down a corridor, one remaining soldier jumps out and shoots at her, but his bullets are blocked by the Nazis.

Zorin says she has something special for him, and using her special powers, she makes the soldier think he has returned home. He can't believe it and says it isn't real, but then his daughter appears. He can't believe this either, as Michelle died ages a go, but he feels her and realizes that she's really there.

However everything is just part of Zorin's illusion. She says the jokes on Daddy and then splits the man in half with her scythe. Elsewhere in the mansion, some of the Nazis are feasting on the dead Wild Geese, making a game out of it: they try to guess their blood types as they consume them.

Their fun comes to an end when Seras bursts in and destroys them all in a hail of bullets. After killing another group, she looks around and says that she'll make them pay...every last one of them will be torn to shreds.

Meanwhile, some of the Nazis reach the Wild Geese's barricade -and start to blow it apart with grenades. Many of the Wild Geese get injured and as Pip fires back, he sees that things are looking hopeless. Pip orders for the last of their ammo to be handed out, but finds that they're out of silver bullets and don't have many regular ones left either. Some of the men again conclude that they're all going to die, and don't want to, something Pip agrees with.

His lieutenant says this reminds him of what happened in that airfield in Uganda. It looked like they were done for until reinforcements arrived, somehow, and saved them right at the last moment...but it doesn't look like that's going to happen this time. He and Pip look around the room and see that most of their force are injured now. Pip tells everyone that Seras is coming -he's sure of it. But just as he says this, the Nazis fire a panzerfaust at them.

This blows apart the barricade, injuring even more of the Wild Geese. Pip has taken a hit this time, and has some shrapnel in his stomach. He also finds that the blast tore his lieutenant in two, but he's still alive. He asks him if he can rest, and Pip tells him he can, he's earned it. He'll be seeing him soon.

Outside the Nazis ask Zorin if they should advance. She tells them to fire their last panzerfaust first, just to further soften their enemy up. Before the Nazi can fire, he has his head blown apart. The other Nazis turn around too late, as they also get cut up by bullets. Only Zorin survives.

Seras has arrived and Zorin knows who she is. She's ran out of ammo for the Harkonnen II, and drops it. Zorin asks if she's surrendering, but she says that's tough talk for the last Nazi alive. Zorin doesn't care and strikes the ground, using her powers.

Seras tries not to let it effect her, knowing that Zorin can create illusions, but something is different about what she's doing this time. Seras keeps trying to think that this isn't happening, but Zorin enters her mind and goes into her memories. Seras remembers a time when a teacher took her to the headmaster. She had been making trouble again, having thrashed a boy with a rock for snatching a toy away from her.

As Seras continues to try and escape this illusion, she remembers that the teacher said she was probably still traumatized by that incident. Whilst the head teacher understood, he said that if she doesn't improve, he'll have her taken away from the orphanage.

Zorin wants more and goes into another memory where Seras had decided to become a police officer. A man asked her if she could go on any other path for herself, but she said no. He told her that her father was a fine policeman , but there were many other choices she could take.

Zorin says they will go even deeper, to the very bottom. This finally causes Seras to snap, and she screams in terror. She becomes her younger self, and relives the incident. Her mother tells her to hide in a closet, and no matter what happens, she isn't to leave it.

Seras hears a gun fire repeatedly, so she opens the closet a little. She sees two men standing over a body, and one of them is holding a gun. As she peers round a little more, she sees that the body is that of her father. The two men taunt him, saying this is what happens when an undercover officer gets in too deep.

Seras also sees that the men have also killed her mother -and taunt her by saying that her death was just for fun. Seras runs out, picking up a fork. Before either of the two men can stop her, she stabs the fork into one of the men's eyes.

The other man shoots her, and they both believe that she's dead. The shooter says they'd better leave, but the stabbed man says he wants to rape the woman first. Even though she's dead, she's still warm. As he starts to do this, Seras sees everything.

Reliving this memory causes Seras to stop moving, and she cries. Zorin says good morning to her, asking her if she had pleasant dreams. She places her scythe onto Seras' arm, as she still remains still. Zorin slices her arm off.

Seras screams, but Zorin thinks she can do better than that. She plunges her weapon into Seras' back, and it goes through her. As Seras falls, Zorin stomps on her head and says she loves the way she squirms. She then lifts up her head, and presses her scythe against her eyes.

She slices her eyes and blinds her. Seras isn't dead and slowly tries to crawl away, as Zorin tells her that she is weak -she thought she was going to be a challenge. But she's just trash, like all of those other men she's had killed. She decides to finish this by cutting off her head, but just before she can do that, Pip charges and smacks her in the face with his AK-47.

Zorin swipes at him, but he avoids her moves and pulls out his revolver. He repeatedly shoots Zorin, sending her flying. Some of the Wild Geese appear and throw smoke bombs, telling their Captain to hurry up as this place is gone and they need to get out of here.

Pip picks up Seras and tells her not to talk. He starts to walk back, but due to his own injuries he can't move too fast. To make matters worse, one of the Nazis has survived, and manages to pick up his gun. He shoots at Pip and hits him.

The two Wild Geese fire and kill the Nazi, whilst Pip somehow manages to find the strength to go on. But he then gets knocked down when a scythe pieces into him: Zorin has recovered! She asks the hero who's laughing now.

Seras shouts Pip's name and he tells her that she came to save them, then he ended up saving her, what a pair. He lights a cigarette, as Seras crawls towards and then onto him, asking him why he didn't just run away.

Pip then finally gets his kiss from Seras, and he says he finally stole that kiss -too bad it took her being blind to do it. Dying, he tells her not to cry and that he's had a damn good run. But now, she must suck his blood. Take him into herself so they can win this fight. Pip then falls down, dead.

Seras picks him back up and holds his body in her arm. She screams and cries, as Zorin says a scene like that can just break your heart. But that man was a bug, and she just had to swat him down. And whilst they've done quite a number on them, this is it. She reveals some more troops, who were late arrivals. They'll squash the remaining bugs under their palms -which is the death insects deserve.

Zorin uses her power again, but Seras says that she heard what she'd said...she'd called Pip an insect. She will pay for this. Seras plunges her fangs into Pip's neck...

...and proceeds to suck his blood. Having never done this to anyone before, she has now become a true vampire. This distracts Zorin, ending her incantation, as she sees that Seras seems to have recovered. Her eyes are back, and are now permanently red. Her outfit has changed to a red color. And her severed arm has become something else. Seras thanks Pip Bernadotte and tells him he can rest in peace, but not yet. Not until he's helped her defeat these Nazis.

Zorin sees that the Nazis, who are hardened Waffen-SS soldiers, are now cowering from a little girl who's badly injured. The Nazis start firing, but Seras proves she's anything but injured, and charges.

Seras' left arm has become shadow matter, and she uses it like a tendril. It smashes the Nazi's apart, and Zorin can only watch as all of her men are cut to ribbons, as Seras continues to advance towards her. She soon is in front of Zorin, and grabs her head, slamming her to the ground and making her drop her scythe.

The two slide across the floor until they come to a stop. Zorin starts punching Seras in the head over and over again, until Seras bites into her hand and tears her fingers off.

She tells Zorin that even if she was about to die, she would not drink a single drop of her blood. She won't do it as she doesn't want her inside of her. Zorin manages to get her other hand onto Seras, and uses her power one more time. She succeeds and tries to get Seras to relive her horrific memory. Seras lets go of Zorin;s head.

But as Zorin attempts to find the memory she wants, she finds she can't -because she's finding the memories of that mercenary she killed! It's like his memories are protecting her, and everything is mixed up. She then hears a voice tell her that blood is the currency of the soul, and the vehicle of life. Having blood offered is a different experience that just taking it. Schrödinger has appeared, and asks Zorin if she's OK, as she looks awful. She is surprised to see him, but he tells her not to be, as he's everywhere, and nowhere. And he has a message for her from the Major.

The Major said that stealing marches and first strikes are the rewards every soldier wants. But what is the reward for a commander when these soldiers fail, when they go against orders, lose men and prove themselves to be inept? That's the end of the message. And in normal circumstances, Zorin would be burnt to a crisp now, the fact is the Major and Doc are busy with their fascinating new toy, so they don't have time to deal with her. And since Seras seems to have her pretty well taken care of...auf wiedersehen! As Schrödinger vanishes, Zorin is no longer in Seras' mind. Seras grabs her head...

...and slams it into a wall. She runs down the corridor, asking Zorin how it feels to have someone mess with her head. As Seras continues to run, Zorin's face is burnt off.

She tosses Zorin's body away, and with her death, her superiors decide to burn her corpse. Seras walks away and looks at the body of Pip. She then tells the two Wild Geese that she's heading off. She made a promise to their captain that they would get them. So now, she must head off and do that, as her and the captain are only getting started.

The two soldiers see that whilst their captain has died, he still lives on inside Seras. The two of them then salute Seras, and thank her and their captain. She smiles...

...and then jumps out of a window, using her new powers to effortlessly fly away. Within seconds she has become a red streak of light.

Over London, the Major stands on the top of his airship. He sees the carnage down below and says this is it, this is what he wanted to see. Schrödinger tells him Zorin is dead, and was killed like a bug. The Major doesn't seem bothered by her death and tells Schrödinger to look at the destruction. Schrödinger thinks the Major really is a meanie, as it seems he'd be fine sending all of his own troops straight into hell. The Major says that this is war, and this is hell. He takes without end, and is taken without end. He's overcome days of aspiration and nights of resignation just to stand here now. Their destruction approaches...together with their victory!

NOTES

This episode adapts most of the majority of the manga's seventh volume. The Pip flashback scene happens earlier on in the manga. Towards the end, the manga has three Wild Geese members with Seras, whilst in the episode there are only two.
