Synopsis

At the Navy base, communications with other military facilities is suddenly cut off. Millennium have arrived over London. The Major orders Zorin Blitz to head to Hellsing headquarters, but tells her not to attack yet. She thinks Hellsing is nothing without Alucard, but he warns her about the strength of Integra and Seras. The Nazis then begin their attack on London, destroying many buildings with rockets. Once the rockets are launched, paratroopers are deployed, who land in the city and start killing any survivors they find.

Back at the base, several men turn traitor, and attempt to take the base for Millennium. Walter kills them all, as Integra tells Penwood he must escape now. He refuses, saying that whilst he's a weak man, he has duties he must perform, just as Integra does. Integra gives him a special gun, loaded with ammunition which is more effective against vampires. She and Walter leave the base and make their way back to the Hellsing headquarters via car. As they drive, they hear a message on the radio from Penwood.

Penwood tells anyone who can hear him to keep fighting. Nazis then invade the base, but once they surround him, he detonates some explosives, killing himself and the Nazis. Walter suddenly stops the car, and tells Integra to take the wheel and find another way back. He has seen the Captain up ahead, and doubts he can hold out against him. Integra orders him to live through this, then drives off.

Walter attacks, but the Captain is able to grab his wires. Other Nazis chase after Integra, and eventually get her to crash her car by firing rockets at it. Integra gets out and cuts the head off of a Nazi who tries to attack her. She then challenges all of the other Nazis, who tell her to give up.

Before they can attack, Anderson appears, along with many Iscariot agents. Believing only they can fight Hellsing, he and his forces take on the Nazis. Out at sea, Alucard says that he is being drawn to his nemesis, and his master. Using his powers, the Eagle moves once more, as Alucard yells to go onward -to the battlefield!

Manga differences

-The episode's opening scene happens earlier on in the manga, just after the Eagle is taken over by Millennium. The episode has some differences, such as showing anime versions of Christopher Walken and Tom Berenger instead of just mentioning their names like the manga does.

-In the manga, the scene where the vampires invade the Navy base happens first, going up to the point where Penwood says he's not a traitor, then the scene showing Millennium arriving over London and starting their attack happens. The episode switches these scenes around.

-When the Nazis start dropping in, the manga has some dialogue where the advance guard announces it has successfully landed, to which another Nazi states it's worth a Knight's Cross. This dialogue is not in the episode.

-The brief scenes showing the Major eating in the episode were not in the manga.

-When the single Nazi finds the group of police, only one of them fires at him in the manga. Many more do in the episode.

-After the above, the manga has an additional scene where the Major orders Zorin to move out. This scene isn't in the episode.

-In the manga, when Penwood is doing his final message, there is another guy still alive with him. He says he doesn't want to become a ghoul, and shoots himself in the head. This character isn't in the episode.

-In the manga, the Nazi who speaks to Penwood only has time to point his gun at him, he doesn't get the chance to fire it. In the episode, he shoots Penwood a few times, but Penwood still manages to detonate the explosives anyway.

-In the manga, Heinkel and Yumie speak first, then Anderson mocks Integra. In the episode, this happens the other way round.

Notes

-The previous four episodes were animated by Satelight. This episode, along with the next two, are animated by Madhouse.

-The credits feature some scenes from the prequel manga Hellsing: The Dawn.
