Synopsis
Pyron, intergalactic collector of planets, heads to Earth. Having last been there 4,000 years ago, it used to have many different, intelligent races, who all understood that they looked upon him as a god. But now there are billions of them, who don't have powers, magic or any useable mutations. Believing the answer to lie in the old races, Pyron summons Demitri Maximoff, the last of the vampires, to the ship. He makes Demitri his general, and then Demitri goes after other Darkstalkers -beaming up Morrigan, Anakaris, Bishamon and Raptor. However, some other Darkstalkers -Jon Talbain, Victor, Rikuo and Bigfoot -are able to evade capture.
Catwoman Felicia is Demitri's next target, but she's able to evade being caught by transforming herself into a small cat. Looking for a sorcerer, she is instead saved by Harry Grimoire, who takes her into his home. Felicia returns to her usual form, and explains that she was looking for Elijah Grimoire. Harry recalls that his great, great, great grandfather was called Elijah, but he died long ago.
Demitri then uses the ship's beam to try and capture Harry, but Felicia saves him. Pyron tells his Darkstalkers they know what they must do. Demitri says they must capture the rebels, bind them with oaths and conquer the Earth! Pyron gets them to swear to serve him, which they all do. Meanwhile, Rikuo and Bigfoot meet and agree to help each other out when the times comes.
In Germany, Victor returns to his castle. He is met by Klaus, the great, great grandson of Igor, the servant Victor was familiar with. Meanwhile, Felicia takes Harry back to her apartment, and whilst he wants to help her fight evil, she says no, as even if he is a descendant of Elijah Grimoire, he's not a trained sorcerer. But Harry then asks for a little help -and as Felicia turns around, she sees that Harry is floating in the air! She tells him he's a Grimoire alright.
-Darkstalkers does not have a unique introduction sequence, instead, if mostly uses clips from this episode, and the eyecatcher commercial break segments.
-Near the end of the intro, Felicia uses an attack where one of her hands grows in size, and she releases a barrage of projectiles. She's never seen using this attack in an episode.
-According to a press release for the series, Harry Grimoire's original name was going to be "Bobby Bridges".
-In the games, Bigfoot is called Sasquatch. The series press release linked above calls the character by his game name ("Sasquatch, a modern day Bigfoot"), so it's unknown as to why his name ended up being changed. In some episodes, the character is called Sasquatch.
-Lord Raptor crashed in 1970, and when he is resurrected, he realizes 30 years have passed. So therefore this series takes place in the year 2000.
-Klaus is not actually named in this episode. His name is finally spoken in "The Game".
-The music played during the end credits is "The Trouble Man", which was previously used in the Japanese Playstation port for Darkstalkers, along with the commercial for the port. The song is also heard for the credits of the Night Warriors OVA series.
-When the astronaut starts using his tool on the satellite, the red patch on his arm disappears.
-When Pyron says "bow and serve me", the top of his head and his horns aren't colored in for a frame when he says "bow".
-When Demitri says "yes... master", part of his shirt keeps changing color from blue to red.
-When Pyron says "power beyond your wildest dreams", there is a space between his hand and face that is colored like it's part of his body. This goes away when Pyron moves his hand.
-Raptor's eyes are meant to be colored black and red, but when he gets beamed up to the ship, they're colored white and red.
-When Victor is reactivated, them are some scars on his chest which keep appearing and disappearing as he moves his arms.
-When Victor says "I don't belong here", the background hasn't been fully painted -you can see white spaces at the top!
-Bishamon's proportions are a bit off during this shot.
-When Harry finds Felicia outside, he's wearing a watch which is consistently on his left arm. But when he brings her into his room, the watch is suddenly on his right arm.
-The watch keeps appearing and disappearing throughout the rest of the episode. This happens frequently throughout the rest of the series, so I'm only going to mention it here.
-When Felicia says "vampire named Demitri", part of her fur overlaps Harry's head. This corrects itself when Harry moves.
-When Rikuo shakes Bigfoot's hand, one of the fins on his arms keeps disappearing.
-The clock seen in Felicia's apartment looks a bit useless -it has no hands on it!
