Synopsis
As Hyoh screams, a spirit appears above him, which seems to be yelling in pain. Black Yaksha and Shachi believe it to be the aura of the God of War. Black Yaksha doesn't understand why he would have that aura, as he has entered the dark world of the North Star lapis lazuli fist. Hyoh remembers the time Jukei took a baby away from him, and gave it to Raoh and Toki, and then he remembers the name of the baby: Kenshiro. Back in the present, Hyoh suddenly stops screaming, and the spirit above him vanishes. But his aggression towards Kenshiro hasn't vanished and he goes into a new stance, one that Black Yaksha recognizes. He says it is a North Star clan style stance, which means his lost memories about the clan may have been restored! Hyoh uses a technique called jouma koushou (scouring light palm) which almost fatally strikes Kenshiro. Whilst Kenshiro is determined to fight on, Black Yaksha says that this situation isn't good, as the two will keep fighting each other until neither of them are left standing, and they will both die if they keep this up.
Elsewhere, Kaioh moves closer to Lin and asks her if she's done talking about useless things like love and emotions. She is more busy trying to find a way out of this, and she happens to find a knife under one of the bed's pillows. She puts it to her throat and threatens to kill herself, but Kaioh laughs at her. He doesn't have and emotions in his heart, as they would only hold him back. His heart is just evil, so he couldn't care less if she kills herself. He then takes a seat and encourages her to do it. Ken and Hyoh continue to fight, but when Hyoh blocks a strike, Kenshiro looks into his eyes and see they are normal again, if just for a moment. Hyoh sees Kenshiro's eyes and how sad they are, but then charges forwards and goes to finish him off with his final attack. Kenshiro also moves forward, ready with his last strike to finish Hyoh off.
Before the two can clash, Shachi stops Hyoh by stabbing through his back. If Kenshiro and Hyoh had both fallen in this fight, then Kaioh would take over, and the world would enter a new dark age. Shachi wanted Kenshiro to survive, so he had to interrupt their fight in this way. He is about to kill himself as a way of an apology, but Hyoh stops him. He tells Shachi it's alright now, and that the only person who would have died in the fight was him -he could not defeat his brother. His memories of Kenshiro have finally returned! Hyoh says that when that spirit vanished, his memories slowly started to come back to him. As he fought Kenshiro, he began to piece more and more of his past together but he still saw Kenshiro as a warrior, rather than his brother. Now that Shachi has done what he's done, the fight is over, and Hyoh has recognized his brother.
He asks Kenshiro if he killed a woman called Sayaka. Kenshiro says he hasn't. and that he's never even heard of her. Hyoh figured as much, and has realized that he has been used by Kaioh. He has remembered that Kaioh was the one who took away his memories, not Jukei. Hyoh goes on to say that Kaioh thinks love is foolish, but just look: that love was what motivated Shachi to fight for Kenshiro, taking a heavy beating from Kaioh and losing one of his eyes in the process. Hyoh has been waiting a long time for his brother's return and he is happy to see him again, and is glad at how strong he has become. The brothers have finally been reunited.
-The order of scenes differs slightly in the manga, such as showing more of the fight between Kenshiro and Hyoh before showing Kaioh with Lin.
-Hyoh's last technique is not named in the anime, but it is in the manga: manju maon ken (ten thousand hand demon sound fist).
-Kaioh isn't wearing his armor when he's with Lin in the manga. He also gets quite a bit closer to her, and touches her face.
Lin is also wearing a much more revealing dress, whilst in the anime, she has her usual clothes.
-In the manga, there is a flashback showing Kaioh and Hyoh training, and Kaioh attempting to kill Hyoh, but is stopped by Jukei. This scene was used earlier in the anime, in the previous episode.
-This episode's recap uses clips from the previous episode -with some minor differences. There is also one difference with a preview clip of Lin. One other differences is that Kenshiro's hair didn't originally animate for this shot, but it does in the recap.
-The animation of Kenshiro ripping his jacket off in this episode looks similar -but does not match up with -the animation seen in the next episode preview segment of this episode.
Episode 140 |
Episode 145 |
The animation used in this episode is clearly based on the animation seen in episode 140, but was redrawn. The animation seen in episode 140 would be used in a Japanese commercial for this game.
-Near the end of the episode, "Wind & Rain" begins to play. This is the second and last time the song is used in the series.
-During the recap, there is some kind of animation glitch with this shot, where Hyoh's fist appears, disappears, then reappears. This glitch was not present in the previous episode.
-When Kaioh tells Lin to go ahead and kill herself, his right glove has fingernails painted on it.
-When Kaioh sits down on his throne, during the close-up shot, he's suddenly not wearing his gloves.
-Hyoh's armor is not broken during this shot only. His right arm wrist band is also missing.
