Toguro: RAAAAAGHHH!
It is the final, decisive round of the Dark Tournament. After Toguro finally attained his 100% form, Yusuke show him with his spirit gun at full power! However...
Yusuke!
A Trial to the Limits of Sorrow
Toguro hits Yusuke, sending him flying up into a stand. Koto comments that Toguro has let loose with a savage punch from his 100% form, and Urameshi has been knocked flying into the third deck of the spectator seating.
Toguro tells Urameshi he has it all wrong -he has only earned the right to fight against him in his 100% form. Right now, he could kill him with one arm, and that'd be more than enough. But if he did that, there'd be no meaning to him reaching 100%. The reason he went to 100% was to see Yusuke's power at its greatest. He tells Yusuke he is obligated to show it to him and fight.
Koenma thinks this is Toguro's instinct, as he lives on nothing more than his fighting instinct. Toguro says it's not that, it's his will -to put it simply, fighting is his purpose in life. To him, instinct is no more than a means to survival. He says it's like this, and he then uses a technique to suck up souls from the demons he's killed.
He starts devouring them, and says he gets terribly hungry whilst in his 100% form. He'll start with the weaker ones, but it won't take him more than 20 minutes to consume all the food here in the stadium. He asks Yusuke if he can just sit there idly and let him do this, and then starts killing off more demons. Koenma puts his barrier back up...
...whilst Jin creates a wind barrier to protect him and Toya. Kai and En seem ok, but Ryo is suffering. Some demons get vaporized.
Juri takes cover behind a rock, whilst a bunch of surviving demons want to get out of here. They start to leave, as Koto comments that, in fear of Toguro's demon energy, the spectators have started to flee from the stadium en masse, and the stadium is in a state of panic.
Shizuru says that rotten muscle-bound bastard is doing anything he pleases. Yukina tells her not to go outside the barrier Puu has created for them. Sakyo pulls out a small device and presses a button on it. Outside the stadium, several large slabs burst out of the ground.
They form a wall around the entire stadium. Sakyo tells everyone they can't miss such a magnificent show such as this, and the price for their tickets is their scum-ridden lives. He considers this an inexpensive fee. Some of the remaining demons decided to kill Toguro before he kills them.
They jump down and charge, but Toguro kills them all before they can even get close to him.
He tells them that as fodder, they will shut up and watch, as this fight is between him and Urameshi. Yusuke tells him not to lump them in together, and jumps up. He delivers a powerful punch which hits Toguro in the head.
Toguro says it must be anger... in order for Yusuke to draw out his power, he requires anger. Yusuke starts punching Toguro in the head over and over, as the demons start rooting for him to win.
Toguro hits Yusuke in the face, sending him back. But Yusuke gets back up straight away and goes on the attack again.
However, Toguro grabs his fist, and tells him this is still not enough. He then starts battering Yusuke with punches. As Keiko watches, she wonders what she is even looking at any more.
She thinks about how up until recently, she and Yusuke were going to school together, where he kept goofing off. And she was subjected to nothing but trouble because of him. Yet when evening came, she still worried about things like if he'd had anything for dinner, and then when morning came, she'd drag him to school again. It might have been repetitive and a little boring, but they spent happy days in a world filled with gentle light. She thought it would go on forever like that, but now... Yusuke is badly injured, but is still fighting.
She thinks this whole thing is a dream, and shouts out to Yusuke that they should go home together. Meanwhile, Yusuke is savagely beaten by Toguro, and gets knocked down. He can hear Keiko screaming his name.
He remembers how she asked him to go home with her after school once, but he wanted to go hang out with some other boys. She thought that meant he was going to fight again, so she dragged him off. Another time, when they were younger, Yusuke was running off from Keiko when he fell into some water. Keiko told him this is why she said they should have gone straight home.
Before then, Yusuke was seen with many friends, but they all disappeared... apart from Keiko. She asked him if they should go home, and he said yes.
However Toguro then appears, and tells him he can't go home nay more. He grabs Keiko and is about to crush her, at wish point Yusuke snaps back to reality and sees Toguro about to stomp on him.
He can't move, and gets stomped on. Toguro asks him if he can't move, and if he's going to wait there like this until everyone is devoured. He starts devouring even more souls, as more demons are killed.
Koto comments that it seems she may not be able to continue speaking through to the very end. But as she falls to her knees, Chu raises a barrier around her, along with himself and Rinku. He tells her to hang in there, or she'll never be the greatest play by play announcer in the Demon Realm like this. Botan's group are still protected by Puu's barrier, but Keiko seems to have gone into a comatose state. Botan tells her to snap out of it, as Yusuke is going to win -if he loses, there's no way he could face Genkai.
Genkai then says how much trouble this all is, and Botan wonders where that voice came from. As Toguro continues to crush Yusuke, he says he'll do whatever it takes to draw out Yusuke's full power. He says he'll even do this, and throws out a projectile...
...towards Botan's group. It destroys part of the stadium, but once the smoke clears, it's revealed that it didn't hit them. It killed off a few other demons instead.
Botan's group are all ok, but Toguro says that next time, he will hit them. Yusuke jumps up...
...and lands another punch straight into Toguro's face. He's about to attack again, but Toguro sends him crashing into another stand with one swipe.
Toguro tells Urameshi he's disappointed him, as he thought he'd finally found someone he could fight all-out against. Yusuke realizes he can't win, whilst Sakyo believes he'll be winning this wager.
Koenma thinks Toguro is strong, and also thinks this could be it. The remaining demons also believe it's all over, and think they'll all be devoured. Juri says she doesn't want to die in a place like this, and now wishes she'd stayed out in the countryside, making her living growing apples.
Shizuru believes that at just over 20 years, she's had such a short life. Botan tells her not to say such timid nonsense, but then Puu flies down, and tells Yukina and Botan that they should be able to manage a periphery realm for four. The girls are all surprised that Puu just spoke, especially since he spoke with Genkai's voice. Puu's appearance has changed slightly.
Genkai flies off, and Shizuru says Genkai's spirit must have possessed Puu. Genkai flies down to where Yusuke is, and says she's had to interrupt him here, right at the climax.
She tells Toguro that she knows he wants to see the depths of Yusuke's power. She tells him what the quickest way to do that is: by taking Yusuke's friends, and killing them. Right now, Yusuke is unable to draw out his true power by himself, and unless one of his friends dies before his eyes, he won't awaken. Yusuke says that's ridiculous, but Genkai tells him that one way or another, everyone at the stadium is going to die at this rate. If one of his friends were sacrificed, it'd draw out his true abilities, and that's what he wants, right?
Yusuke screams at her to not joke about that, and says he's misjudged her. Is she seriously trying to say that all will be well if he has to watch as one person dies for everyone else? Does she really think he could do that? Genkai slaps him and reminds him that this is the world he's stuck his nose into. No matter what he does, there's no helping those who are weak.
Toguro then hits them both with some air pressure blasts. He says he'd been thinking of that anyway, as a final resort. If Urameshi is so inexperienced that he can't even control his own power, then he supposes there's no other way. He takes a look at the Urameshi team, and decides on the one he's going to kill.
He picks Kuwabara. He tells him for the sake of drawing out Urameshi's power -which is to say, for his own sake -he will die. He starts walking forwards, and Yusuke desperately tries to stop him.
Toguro tells him to get out of the way, and swats him aside. Yusuke gets back up and tries to attack, only to be felled by another strike.
Kurama says the three of them will have to attack all together, but Hiei questions what Kurama can do in his current state. Kurama knows Hiei is low on energy now as well, but asks him if he wants to run away. Hiei says he'll take on Toguro first. Koenma wonders why Genkai said what she said, was it really to draw out Yusuke's power? As Yusuke takes another hit, Toguro calls him pathetic.
Yusuke readies his spirit gun, but Toguro gets behind him in an instant, and calls him powerless. He then shoves his head into the ground.
Kurama and Hiei are ready to fight, but Kuwabara tells them to wait. He says he'll go alone. Kurama and Hiei ask him what he is saying, as is he planning to willingly let himself be killed? Kuwabara says that Koenma staked his life on Urameshi. So he's going to stake his own life, as well.
By his nature, he was never one to just give up! He tells Kurama and Hiei that they don't need to meddle in this. He summons a spirit sword, and says that, just as the cherry blossom is a flower among flowers, he's a man among men! And he won't be defeated for nothing, he'll see to it that he gets in one good slash. Yusuke tells him to not do it.
Kuwabara charges, but as he does, Toguro vanishes. He then appears right in front of him, and plunges a hand into his chest.
As he removes his hand, blood goes everywhere. Kuwabara tells Urameshi he's more than just this, so he must not disappoint him. He then collapses, and as Toguro moves away, the rest of the Urameshi team run over. Kurama tells Kuwabara to stay with them, but it's too late -Kuwabara is dead.
As everyone reacts to that, Toguro asks Yusuke if that has motivated him a little. Or is that not enough -if that's the case, should he kill another one of them?
Yusuke slowly gets up, and a strange glow emits from him. In an instant, he appears behind Toguro. Toguro feels a cold shiver, which surprises him.
Yusuke calls himself pitiful, as he couldn't even save one of his own. He then starts emitting a strange energy from his body, which Toya says is different to what Yusuke has had up until now.
Kurama says the energy is like an incredibly chilling wind. Yusuke tells Toguro what he did was unforgivable, but more than anyone else, he can't forgive himself.
At Kuwabara's death, Yusuke has been plunged into deep grief and despair. Having risen to his feet, does Yusuke have the power to fight Toguro at 100%?
