Synopsis

Yusuke is about to reluctantly use his spirit gun to kill the Ichigaki team, but the masked fighter stops him. She says she can deal with this, and uses a spirit wave technique that stops M1, M2 and M3 just as they are about to attack her. She leaps up and hits points on each of them, which causes the blood-controlled nodes on their backs to burst off. The three Ichigaki team members fall to the floor, seemingly dead. Koto counts them out, and the Urameshi team are declared the winners.

Yusuke heads off to confront Ichigaki. Ichigaki tries to bargain with him, Kurama and Hiei, saying only he knows where Mitamura is. But Hiei and Kurama reveal they've already rescued and healed him, having gotten the information from M5. Realizing he has no other options left, Ichigaki injects himself with a serum, which causes him to mutate into a massive demon. He gets into a fight with Yusuke, Hiei and Kurama, but Yusuke decides to deal with this himself. He lifts Ichigaki up into the air and the hits him several times, one blow for each person the doctor has hurt. He lands one last strike on Ichigaki, which sends him crashing into part of the stadium.

It's then revealed that M1, M2 and M3 aren't dead, and have reverted to their usual selves -En, Ryo and Kai. However they are too ashamed to see their master, and would prefer to die. The masked fighter tells them not to say such things, as the technique she used judged their hearts. If their hearts were corrupt, then their bodies would have been destroyed. But if their hearts were pure, it would have purged the evil parts of their bodies. The three fighters reunite with their master, and everyone is relieved to see that everything has turned out ok. As Botan and Kurama carry the injured Kuwabara off, Kai requests he takes Kuwabara's place on Yusuke's team, to make up for what he did. Yusuke declines however, saying Kuwabara would never forgive him if he let him do that, and also that the tournament rules state they can only use an alternate if one of their team members has died.

As Kai heads off to the rest of his team, there is a sudden announcement: the next round of the tournament will start right now, with the Urameshi team facing the Devilish Trainer team! Yusuke is angry they have to fight right away, but they have no choice. The Devilish Trainer team suddenly appear from within a green energy tornado -what kind of battle will unfold now?

Manga differences

-In the manga, the masked fighter's technique involves her quickly hitting points on M1, M2 and M3. The anime changed it so she summons a massive amount of spirit energy first, then creates an expanding dome to stop the team. Then she hits their pressure points.

-Any scenes with Koenma and Jorge in this episode weren't in the manga.

-In the manga, whilst Ichigaki transforms, he doesn't get that much bigger, and Yusuke takes him out with a single punch.

The anime made Ichigaki much larger, and also expanded on the fight greatly, letting Ichigaki show off a few moves, and Yusuke hits him several times.

-In the manga, Kai offers to help Yusuke move Kuwabara. In the anime, Botan and Kurama move him.

Errors

-Koto's legs are skin colored during this shot.
-During this shot, Hiei's white headband is skin colored.
-Same deal with this shot.
