Synopsis

Suzaku is hit by Yusuke's spirit shotgun, and seemingly defeated. Yusuke is out of energy himself, but before Yusuke can get the bug flute, Suzaku revives and stops him. Suzaku reveals he can take the energy back from the other defeated Suzakus, which he does. This heals most of his injuries, and he uses the dark demon cage formation technique again, creating fresh clones of himself. They attack Yusuke with the prism of seven lighting wave, but the arrows fail to find their mark.

Suzaku realizes that one of his antenna has been cracked, which is what controls his secret techniques, and believes it happened when Yusuke used the spirit gun against him for the first time. He attempts to use the technique again, believing that he should still be able to bury Yusuke with it. Before he can attack, Yusuke looks at the monitor and sees that Keiko and Botan are surrounded, and Iwamoto is about to attack them with some scissors. Keiko yells out Yusuke's name and screams, and as this happens, she emits some sort of barrier which stops Iwamoto. Meanwhile, Yusuke also powers up, using up his own life energy to let him fight.

Using the shotgun technique again, Yusuke this time hits all seven of the Suzakus, defeating them all. The explosion is so large that it destroys most of the tower, whilst Murugu is vaporized and the bug flute is destroyed. In his final moments, Suzaku thinks this must have been the power of the bond between Yusuke and Keiko. Kuwabara and the others rush in just as the fight ends, but Kurama says that as Yusuke used up his life's energy, his heart is about to stop. However Kuwabara, despite being low on energy himself, gives up some of his spirit energy to Yusuke, saving him. He then also collapses, so Kurama and Hiei have to carry them back to the Human Realm.

Yusuke wakes up three days later in Kuwabara's house. He finds out that their school is closed, but he wants to know what happened to Keiko and Botan. Kuwabara pretends something terrible happened to them by not answering, but the two then enter the room, and both are fine. Later on, Yusuke and Keiko go for a walk. Yusuke tells her everything was his fault and expects her to slap him, but she instead says Botan told her everything, and asks him to promise that in future, he will tell her before he goes on another case. He tells her he won't put her in such danger again, but she says that wasn't an answer. He claims things will be alright, as missions as dangerous as this one don't come around that often. She tells him that's not an answer either...

Manga differences

-The manga does not show how Botan gets injured, whilst the anime does.

-Botan's head is bleeding after she is attacked in the manga, but in the anime there is no blood.

-The manga doesn't have Murugu knock away the bug flute like she does in the anime.

-The scene with Kuwabara, Kurama and Hiei fighting the cultivated humans inside the tower was not in the manga, nor was the scene here they get trapped on the stairs.

-As usual, any scenes with Koenma and Jorge weren't in the manga.

-The anime extends the fight between Yusuke and Suzaku. The manga doesn't have Suzaku use the prism of seven lighting wave again.

-The manga shows how Suzaku's monitor works: a fly is recording the footage. The anime doesn't show the fly.

-The biggest change is that, for reasons unknown, when Keiko screams out, she seemingly emits some kind of spirit energy in the anime. The manga does not show her doing this. And Keiko does not show anything like this in the anime again.

-Murugu's fate is not clear in the manga, as she isn't shown being killed. The anime does make it clear she dies.

-Suzaku doesn't realize one of his antennas have been damaged in the manga until just before he dies. The anime had him realize this way earlier.

-The manga has Kuwabara repeatedly tell Yusuke about things other than Keiko and Botan, such as Iwamoto being questioned by the police. The anime doesn't have him do this.

-Botan has a couple of plasters on her head in the manga, but in the anime she doesn't have any.

Notes

-Kuwabara's room has an Oingo Boingo poster in it, for their Good for your Soul album.

Errors

-The Oingo Boingo poster has Boingo spelt as "Bingo" during this shot.
