At last, the clash between Yusuke and Suzaku has commenced! Yusuke fought desperately to deliver Keiko from demonic hands. However, he is powerless before Suzaku's dark, secret techniques.
Genkai: Bonehead! Your thoughts! Yearning! Making your heart as one! Concentration!
Yusuke: Make my heart one... damned if I'm gonna lose! Suzaku! Fight me!
Yusuke's
Life or Death Counterattack
Murugu tells Suzaku that Yusuke doesn't know when to die, and asks that her master hurries and defeats him. Suzaku tells her that goes without saying, and he prepares to use the prism of seven lighting wave. But he realizes that he can't -he doesn't have enough energy left.
Yusuke says he'll show him his ace in the hole punch, and uses his spirit shotgun technique. The Suzakus get blasted, and the bug flute gets dropped. Yusuke says he did it, but he also collapses.
He says his body won't move the way he wants it to, but he then sees the monitor. Keiko and Botan are still being chased by the Makaichu-possessed humans. But suddenly, as the two round a corner, another group is waiting for them, and one hits Botan with a pipe.
Keiko catches her as she falls, as the people surround them. Botan weakly tells Keiko to run, whilst Iwamoto asks if they really thought they could get away from here. Yusuke sees what is happening, and says he must destroy the bug flute.
But Murugu dives into the bug flute, pushing it further away. She tells Yusuke she won't let him have it his way, but he tells her if she touches it again, he'll roast up some nasty-tasting chicken! She thinks he doesn't have any power left, and he says he might not have the same power as he had before, but he still has enough to turn her into a crispy piece. In the Spirit Realm, Koenma and Jorge watch Yusuke. Jorge thinks Yusuke really has grown, as in the past, he would have used all of his power fighting.
But now, he thought this through to the very end, and saved some of his spiritual power. However Koenma thinks there's no way Yusuke would have thought about something like that, what he's doing now is bluffing. Elsewhere in the castle, Kuwabara and the others are still fighting against the cultivated humans.
But there are a lot of them to fight. Kuwabara thinks that at this rate, they'll be too worn out to help Urameshi. Kurama says there's no other way, and Hiei says all they can do is go on. They resume fighting.
Murugu falls for Yusuke's bluff, and flies away in fear. Yusuke is about to grab the bug flute, but then Suzaku stomps on his hand. Suzaku tells Murugu not to be fooled, as there's no way Yusuke has enough power left to shoot his spirit gun. If he had, he would have destroyed the bug flute already.
He tells Yusuke that his earlier attack had frighteningly wonderful destructive power, but it also had a serious weak point. It's rate of hitting the mark is too low, and he missed his vital spot. He kicks Yusuke across the room, and tells him he's out of luck now. Yusuke manages to get back up, and tells him not to act so tough, as he's clearly just as worn out as he is.
Suzaku tells him he still doesn't understand. He raises one of his arms, which starts to glow with power. Yusuke watches and sees demon energy coming out of the fallen Suzakus. The standing Suzaku collects this energy...
...and uses it to restore himself back to full health. He tells Yusuke that as he told him, all seven of them are himself. So as long as he doesn't defeat all seven at once, he'll just keep returning to life as many times as it takes. He then decides to show Yusuke his greatest sorcery one more time, and uses the dark demon cage formation technique again.
The Suzakus tells Yusuke that he has used up all of his power, so they can all see how this fight will end. In the Spirit Realm, Jorge thinks Yusuke is done for sure this time, but Koenma hits him and tells him to shut up. He then tells Yusuke to hang on, as he's pretty sure Hiei and the others will reach him.
Suzaku says he underestimated Yusuke earlier, and didn't shock him hard enough. But this time, he'll put more than enough power into his attack. He tells Yusuke that this is where they part ways, and as a parting gift, he'll give him his highest powered prism of seven lighting wave. Meanwhile, Kuwabara and the others are heading up some stairs. The whole room shakes, and Kurama says Yusuke's battle with Suzaku must be getting serious. Hiei says it won't be settled until one of them has died.
They continue on, but then the stairs in front of them collapse, and a few seconds later, the stairs behind them do the same. Back at the battle, Yusuke can't help but think how pathetic he feels. Just the wind pressure from Suzaku's attack is about to blow him away!
He really has used up all his power, so it looks like things really are hopeless. Suzaku tells him his and Keiko's deaths are going to come at the same time. He and the other Suzakus leap up into the air, and use the prism of seven lighting wave.
Yusuke manages to block some of them with a spirit barrier, but the projectiles break through it and seemingly hit him... only for them to actually miss. Suzaku doesn't understand, it was like his blasts strayed away from their target. He then realizes why: there is a crack in one of his antennas. He thinks it must have happened when Yusuke first used his spirit gun against him. His antenna are the critical components in controlling his secret techniques, and they are wrapped in a shell even harder than diamond.
He tells Yusuke he's hard to look down on, but his destiny ends here. He decides to attack again, as whilst he can't control his lightning waves that well, this is still going to be enough to bury him. Yusuke thinks if he gets hit by this, he's finished, and wonders if there's anything he can do. Back on the stairs, Hiei throws his sword...
...and it pierces one of the broken steps. Kurama then wraps his rose whip around it, and tells the others to grab hold of him. Yusuke tries to think of some way, but he knows he really has no power remaining.
But he then hears Keiko crying out his name. He looks at the monitor and sees that Iwamoto is about to stab her with some scissors.
She screams out again, which causes some kind of energy to emit from her. Iwamoto drops the scissors and is kept from harming her or Botan, and as this is happening, Yusuke suddenly unleashes incredible power.
Suzaku wonders what's going on, and realizes that Yusuke is burning up his own life fore to do this. He must be planning to die himself, and end this fight in a draw. As Yusuke charges towards Suzaku, Suzaku thinks this power is nothing like anything he's seen before. He uses the prism of seven lighting wave again...
...but Yusuke is able to block it and then break through it. He then uses his shotgun.
The projectiles clash, just as Kuwabara and the others run into the room. They're just in time to see Yusuke and the Suzakus charge into each other.
The Suzakus all get hit, and there is a massive explosion. Yusuke gets thrown back, as do the Suzakus, whilst Murugu is vaporized.
The bug flute is also destroyed. Yusuke sees it break apart, but then thinks that he can't see any more, and hopes he was in time to see Keiko. As the explosion ends, the tower is badly damaged, and on fire.
The Suzakus are all down. At the school, Keiko opens her eyes to see that everyone around her has collapsed, and have returned to normal. Back at the castle, Suzaku can't stand, and says if his lightning wave had been complete, he wouldn't have taken this much damage. He tells Yusuke his power is splendid, and thinks this must have been the power of the bond between him and Keiko.
Suzaku then collapses and dies. In the Spirit Realm, Koenma is ecstatic that Yusuke won, until Jorge points out Yusuke used up all of his life energy to do it. Kuwabara calls out to Urameshi, but he doesn't respond. Kurama says this is bad, as Yusuke has used up all of his life energy, and his heart is about to stop.
Kuwabara says he'll transfer some of his own spirit energy to him. Kurama warns him that's suicidal, as he still hasn't recovered from his battle with Byakko, so it's too much to ask. Kuwabara refuses to just shut up and watch Urameshi die, and he's the only one who can transfer spirit energy to him. He starts the spirit energy transfer, as Kurama and Hiei look on. Kurama thinks it looks like they'll have to carry both of them back to the Human Realm. Hiei thinks they're such a pain.
He just doesn't understand why the two would wear themselves out so much for someone else. Kurama says that's the reason they won, but Hiei says he could never be like them. Kuwabara then collapses. Later, at Kuwabara's home...
Yusuke wakes up, and finds himself in Kuwabara's room. Kurama explains to him that he's been asleep for nearly three days. Kuwabara says that their whole school was in an uproar, so it's mostly closed right now. And he's spoken to Atsuko about what's been going on. Yusuke asks what happened to Keiko and Botan.
Neither Kuwabara or Kurama give an answer. Yusuke asks again, but they both look away. Yusuke gets up and grabs Kuwabara, demanding that he says something, but then Keiko and Botan enter the room.
Botan, who is clearly absolutely fine, asks what is Yusuke shouting for? Kuwabara starts laughing, and says he wanted to keep Urameshi scared a little while longer. Kurama says he told Kuwabara even as a joke, it wasn't very funny.
Kuwabara laughs it up, and says the look on Urameshi's face was so pathetic. Later on, Yusuke and Keiko go on a walk together, but Yusuke thinks that Keiko must still be mad at him. Not that he blames her, since he did place her in that frightening situation. Usually when he puts her out, the fastest way for things to be resolved is for her to slap him a few times.
He tells Keiko this was entirely his fault, and he's ready for her to do whatever she has to until she's satisfied. It looks like she's about to slap him, but she ends up pointing instead. She says she heard everything that's happened up until now from Botan. So the next time has has a case and has to go somewhere, she wants him to tell her.
She asks that, if possible, to tell her first. He'd left her hanging with no idea what was going on, and she didn't get to hear the truth until after everything was over -that really bothered her. Yusuke says he's sorry, but she tells him to make her a definite promise instead of apologizing. He tells her he'll never put her in that dangerous position again, but she tells him that's not an answer. He claims things will be alright, as missions as dangerous as this one don't come around that often. She tells him that's not an answer either...
