Synopsis
Botan grabs Botan and hides her from the Makaichu-possessed people, and reports to Yusuke. But Iwamoto then finds them both. At the castle, Yusuke's team find a large tower, and believe Suzaku is at the top of it. But before they can get any closer, they are attacked by a massive horde of cultivated humans, mindless zombies who Suzaku sent out to delay the team from intruding. However they quickly implement a plan, which allows Yusuke to jump over them all and enter the tower. Yusuke is soon standing before Suzaku.
Keiko and Botan try calling for help, but the phone line has been cut. Keiko suggests trying the phone in the staff room, but when they get there, they find Takenaka beaten up and unconscious, and are soon forced to run again when Iwamoto finds them. Meanwhile Yusuke starts to fight Suzaku, but things don't go well -Suzaku is able to fend off all his punches with one hand, and then even manages to deflect a spirit gun blast by punching it. Suzaku then counters by using one of his own techniques, ankoku raijin ken (dark lightning swift fist), which allows him to combine the power of lightning with his own demon energy.
Yusuke does not take a direct hit, but is grazed by the attack, which still causes him a lot of pain. He gets up and takes off his shoes, placing them over his hands. Suzaku thinks what he's doing is useless, and uses the dark lightning swift fist again. Back at the school, Botan and Keiko and trapped at the end of a corridor, but thanks to Keiko causing a distraction and Botan using a fire extinguisher, they are able to escape. However Iwamoto appears and grabs Botan, but Keiko saves her by slapping Iwamoto with so much force he falls down.
Suzaku strikes Yusuke's shoes, destroying them, only to reveal that Yusuke was protecting his hand by using his spirit energy, which nullifies Suzaku's attack. Yusuke punches Suzaku in the face and tells him this is now all about his counterattack. The narrator warns that whilst Yusuke's counterattack has begun, Suzaku isn't the type who'll just back down. Yusuke or Suzaku: who will be the one to seize victory? And what of Keiko and Botan's fate?
-In the manga, Keiko tackles Botan, but in the anime, Botan tackles Keiko.
-Iwamoto is shown stomping on Botan's communicator in the manga, whilst he's not seen doing this in the episode.
-As usual, any scenes with Koenma and Jorge in this episode weren't in the manga.
-Hiei's plan has Kuwabara run forward whilst already carrying Kurama and Hiei. The anime changed it so Kurama and Hiei run after him and leap onto him once he's gotten closer to the tower.
-The manga does not show Kuwabara, Kurama and Hiei fighting the cultivators.
-The manga shows Botan and Keiko deal with things when they're trapped in the corridor
first, then shows Yusuke blocking Suzaku's attack. The anime rather awkwardly edits this so they keep jumping around from one fight to the other.
-Iwamoto grabs Botan by her throat in the manga, and only uses one arm. The anime changed it so he
uses both arms, and grabs her by her shoulders.
