Synopsis

As everyone wonders what Yusuke is going to do, Mukuro and Hiei head into Gandara to listen in. Yusuke meets Yomi, and tells him that Raizen is dead. He says he has brought him a gift, and opens his bag. Inside are his nation's national treasure, the rurimaru stones. As Yomi picks one up, he realizes it has Mukuro's name etched onto it, and realizes each stone has someone's name on it -other names include Kurama, Hokushin and Hiei. Yusuke says he's no king, and proposes having a grand tournament, where the winner will become the supreme commander of the Demon Realm. Yomi thinks that Yusuke's serious about this, and asks if he expects him to agree do such a ridiculous proposal.

A door opens, revealing Jin, Chu and the others -who are happy to see Yusuke, and agree to his proposal. Kurama tells Yomi that from now on he's just plain Kurama, he no longer has some fancy title. He tells him if he doesn't agree with Yusuke's proposal, they're going to side with Yusuke right here and now. Yomi realizes he's been outwitted. Mukuro hears of Yusuke's plan, and also goes along with it. Yomi realizes he has no choice. He later goes to check on his son, Shura, who he intends to give intense combat training to as soon as he is born. He believes Shura is his ace card, and together, they will be able to defeat Mukuro. Elsewhere, Yusuke tries to explain to Hokushin and the others regarding what he's trying to do.

Suddenly two demons appear: Enki, and his wife, Kokou. The two explain they were old sparring buddies of Raizen's, and have come to pay their respects. Enki says that once Raizen gave up fighting and eating humans, they lost their will to fight, and went on living. More of Raizen's old sparring pals then arrive, and mourn for Raizen. Yusuke tells Hokushin that all he did this last year was exchange punches with Raizen, and it never felt like he was his father. But right now, he feels happy. Enki then tells everyone that's enough of that, as there's another reason why they've all come together. The group all stand up, as Enki shouts out to Yusuke that they're going to enter the tournament too. They decide to make sure they've still got what it takes, and fire up their demon energy -and in doing so, show that each of them is a warrior of incredible power.

As everyone reacts to their energy, Yuda's scanning device explodes when he tries to use it to read their power. Yomi thinks that each of these warriors is a match for him, or they may be even greater. But he has this inspirational feeling, and feels his old blood is beginning to stir. He then checks on Shura, and finds that he is laughing. Yomi believes his son must be having the same feeling he has. Yomi tells Yuda he's free to go now, and can do as he likes. Yomi says not even he can tell who's going to win now. Yuda says he can't seriously be saying he's abandoning his nation and fighting in the tournament. But Yomi says he is, as he is also a fool.

Manga differences

-In the manga, after Kurama thinks that after one year, Yusuke hasn't changed, the next part shown is Hiei and Mukuro discussing what Yusuke plans to do. In the anime, this scene was moved forward, and used near the end of the previous episode.

-In the manga, Mukuro and Hiei do not enter Gandara. Instead, Mukuro sends in some bugs, which relay back to her and Hiei about what is going on.

-The manga has a brief scene where two bored demons wait to sign people up for the tournament, but other than Mukuro and a few others, no one else has signed up. They believe this is because everyone thinks it'll boil down to a fight between Yomi and Mukuro. This scene isn't in the anime.

-The bit where Kokou gets right up to Yusuke, and then bites Enki's finger, was not in the manga.

-In the manga, during the part where various characters react to Enki and the others powering up, Mukuro has no dialogue. She was given a line in the anime.

-The manga does not show Kurama and his group reacting to Enki and the others powering up.
