Synopsis

Yusuke is training with Hokushin and some other monks, whom he easily defeats. He decides to go straight off and challenge Raizen, despite the last time they fought a month ago nearly resulting in Yusuke's death. Yusuke storms into Raizen's room, but is attacked by a crazed Raizen. Raizen grabs him by the face and smashes him out of the tower, where the two end up crashing into a forest. Yusuke manages to get him off and eventually he calms down. Yusuke wants to know why his father refuses to eat. Raizen tells him he reminds him of her.

Raizen explains that, long ago, there was no barrier between the Human and Demon Realms. Raizen had been classed among the humans as a man-eater, and ate as much as he liked. One day, having been injured, he barged into a home, and a woman asked him who he was. She saw he was injured and approached him, so he got ready to kill her. But he stopped his hand just short of her head. She told him to let her see his injuries, so she could heal him. Raizen allowed her to heal him, and then spent the night in her home. As he looked at her, he was thinking of consuming her. But she showed no fear about it at all, and even offered herself to him. However she warned him that her body was a vessel full of poisons, and if he did eat her, he would die. If he's able to devour her, he should. Raizen realized he was unable to move, as this woman had completely overwhelmed him. The two ended up making love, and he vowed never to eat another human again until they were reunited. However, after he left, the woman died soon after giving birth. He had been hoping to meet her reincarnation.

He tells Yusuke he is his son, but asks him if he wants to eat people. Yusuke says he does not. Raizen tells him he can't do it, even having inherited his blood. He's certain that a fraction of demonkin has undergone a mutation. Mukuro and Yomi started fighting out with only their emotions, but it's different now. He tells him he may be able to find an ally in Mukuro, who wants to keep things the same as they are now. But he warns him to be wary of Yomi, who intends to rule the Demon, Human and Spirit Realms. He tells Yusuke he's leaving everything to him, and after saying how hungry he is, he dies. Yusuke returns to Hokushin and the others and informs them of their king's passing, and then asks Hokushin to take him to Yomi's city.

The two arrive at Gandara, and Yusuke makes his presence known by screaming to Yomi, telling him to put some tea on. As they head into Gandara, Yomi tells Kurama that Yusuke is quite an interesting character. Elsewhere, on Mukuro's mobile fortress, Mukuro and Hiei discuss Raizen's passing, and what's going to happen next. Mukuro questions if Hiei would side with her or Yusuke depending on what happens. Hiei says he won't join either side, he'll fight whoever wins. Right now, Mukuro has a 100% chance of beating Yusuke. Mukuro says that's a half-truth. She believes that if they were to fight right now, he would join Yusuke. If her and Yusuke's powers were evenly matched, he wouldn't join either side -she's a little bit envious of that. She then asks for a course change, and her fortress heads to Gandara. She tells everyone to prepare for combat.
