Synopsis
Sky Lynx fills Optimus Prime in on what has happened. Optimus asks the Quintesson to repair the Autobots damaged during the battle against Superion, which he does. Bumblebee is completely changed, so much so that Optimus decides to rename him Goldbug. Optimus says he can't come up with a plan without the Matrix of Leadership, which Rodimus Prime still has. He also finds out about the metal Jessica's father had been working on. The Autobots head to Chaar, where they see Galvatron is the only Decepticon not infected by hate plague. They save him, and the Decepticons retreat. Optimus tells Galvatron he needs the metal the Decepticons stole, and Galvatron agrees to take them to where it is being stored.
The group are attacked by the Decepticons again, leading to Blaster, Blurr, Goldbug and Kup become infected. The rest make it to where the metal is. Galvatron finds out Optimus intends to cover himself with the metal, to make him impervious to the hate plague. He is about to fire on Optimus, but a distraction caused by Jessica lets the Autobots stop him before he can. The metal is loaded into Optimus' trailer, but Cyclonus then enters the room and infects Jessica. She in turn then infects Galvatron, whilst Optimus and Sky Lynx escape and head to Earth.
The Quintesson has the metal melted and then sprayed all over Optimus, which completely covers him. Optimus and Sky Lynx then track down Rodimus, who is being chased by some of the Throttlebots. After making them crash, Rodimus is surprised to see Optimus, but quickly starts fighting him. The battle moves into a factory, where Sky Lynx gets infected. Optimus has no choice but to hit Rodimus, allowing him to take the Matrix back.
Optimus returns to Autobot City, where he enters the Matrix and meets Alpha Trion. Alpha Trion reveals he doesn't know of a cure to the hate plague, so Optimus travels further back into it, where he meets a being called It. It tells him that a wise man was once able to contain the spores, and send them into the sun, but no one was able to destroy them -no one had the power to do that. The only way to fight such madness is with wisdom. Unfortunately, no one person now has the wisdom to contain the spores, much less destroy them, now that they have spread across the galaxy. But Optimus says perhaps there does exist a source of wisdom powerful enough to destroy the spores, and cure the entire world: the accumulated wisdom that resides within the Matrix. Optimus exits the Matrix and asks it to light their darkest hour. He opens the Matrix.
The Matrix unleashes energy across the universe, which cures all of the hate plague. Later on, Galvatron tells Optimus there will be no war today, he has earned his respect. Optimus shows Hot Rod the empty Matrix. Hot Rod says the wisdom of the ages is lost. Optimus says it's not lost, as they're all a little wiser now. Hot Rod says the Matrix is empty, but Optimus tells him it's up to all of them to fill it again, with the wisdom they accumulate from this moment on. And with that, he tells the Autobots to transform and roll out!
-The Secret Files segment for this episode is about Ultra Magnus.
-SCRIPT DIFFERENCES: Click here for details.
-This episode's title card is unique, as the title appears by itself, then credits for the story and teleplay appear separately afterwards. Usually, the title and writer credits appear on screen at the same time, but for this episode, they don't. Things go back to normal for future episodes.
-Usually the second parts of Transformers episodes start with a recap of what happened in part one, narrated by Victor Caroli. But for this one, Sky Lynx recaps what happened, and some of the recap footage contains completely new animation.
-Whilst Blaster isn't named, Wheelie is. Wheelie appeared briefly in the first part, but he's completely absent in the second, other than Sky Lynx mentioning his name. As Sky Lynx also said some of the Autobots were possibly "damaged beyond repair", some fans like to think that Wheelie died.
-"It" isn't named in the episode itself, but that's the name in the script.
-Part of "The Touch", a song that played a couple of times in the Transformers movie, can be heard twice in this episode -once when Optimus opens the Matrix, and then at the very end when he tells the Autobots to roll out. Surprisingly, the word "hell" can be heard the first time it is played -you would have thought it would have been censored, but somehow it wasn't.
-Sky Lynx names Wheelie as one of the damaged Autobots, but he never appears in the episode. He seems to have been replaced by Blaster.
-The top of Blaster's head is colored red instead of white when he gets up.
-The above error happens again a little later.
-For this shot, the Predacon Rampage is seen, but he's colored like he's Steeljaw.
-Optimus' trailer is missing the Autobot insignia during this shot.
-Prime's bumper is colored completely red instead during this shot. It should be white and have some yellow markings on it.
-When Jessica says "a spider!", she's not wearing her exo-suit.
-Primer's trailer is missing its Autobot insignia again during the energy leech scene.
-Optimus is colored like he's been covered with the alloy when the Autobots leave the cave, but that hasn't happened yet.
-As Sky Lynx leaves the cave, Jessica manages to briefly grab his tail, but he doesn't become infected by the hate plague.
-Rodimus seems to have transparent legs during this shot.
-Optimus is colored like he's wearing the alloy again during this shot.
-Optimus' trailer is missing its Autobot insignia during the last shot of the episode.
