Starscream leads a group of Decepticons on a raid of a weapons factory. Optimus Prime, who had been searching for the Decepticon's space bridge with Spike, arrives first. The Decepticons attack him and knock him into a computer, causing it to explode. Optimus uses himself to shield others from the blast. The Decepticons fire everything they've got at Optimus, damaging him. They then pick up their energon cubes and retreat. Learning of Prime's condition, Megatron orders Laserbeak to go to Autobot HQ to investigate further. Realizing Optimus has been badly damaged, Megatron orders Laserbeak to finish him off.

Laserbeak causes further damage to Optimus, and unless his cosmitron is replaced, he will die. Wheeljack knows he has one on his workshop on Cybertron, so an Autobot team consisting of Chip, Ironhide, Bumblebee, Trailbreaker and Bluestreak are tasked with getting the cosmitron. Chip uses Teletraan I to locate when the space bridge will next appear. As the team head to it, the Decepticons send over a shipment of energon cubes to Cybertron. The Autobots arrive and the Decepticons start fighting them, just as it starts raining. Megatron is watching and orders the Decepticons to stand down, as the rain has given him an idea.

The Autobots use the space bridge and arrive on Cybertron, where they evade Shockwave. They get to Wheeljack's workshop and find the cosmitron, but as they leave, a group of Decepticons cause an acid rain storm, which causes the Autobots to fall. Thanks to some encouragement from Chip, the Autobots are able to save themselves. Trailbreaker uses his powers to deflect the rain, whilst Bluestreak fires on the Decepticons and makes them retreat. They then use the space bridge to return to Earth.

On Earth, the Decepticons fight and defeat the Autobots at their HQ. Megatron asks if any can challenge his might, at which point a revived and repaired Optimus Prime appears. The two leaders battle, with Optimus eventually defeating Megatron in a one on one battle. Megatron yields and the Decepticons retreat, as the Autobots celebrate. Whilst Chip says that takes care of the Decepticons, Spike is certain they'll be back.

-This episode proves that whilst there are 3 Reflectors, only one of them is real. When Bluestreak shoots one, it gets pushed back into another and vanishes in a flash of white light. Bluestreak then shoots another...

...which gets pushed back and kind of merges with the real Reflector. Reflector's toy consisted of 3 individual characters- Spectro, Viewfinder and Spyglass -who could all combine together into a camera. The Reflector in the cartoon is mainly based on Viewfinder's toy.

-Speaking of Reflector, there is a fourth Reflector who Starscream shoves into the vehicle that's going through the space bridge. This "Reflector" isn't voiced by Chris Latta, and in the script, wasn't supposed to be Reflector either -he was down as "Unnamed Decepticon". I guess the writer's intention was to have some generic Decepticon in this role, but when it came to the animation stage, nobody knew what to do so they just used Reflector's design instead.

Errors

-The human guards have green uniforms, but when they start firing at the Decepticons, the wrong characters get used -we see the factory workers firing guns instead.
-Starscream's laser cannon and the tip of his left wing overlap Skywarp during this shot.
-Thundercracker's lower legs are colored like Skywarp's during this shot.
-When Megatron says "if Optimus Prime's laser core was in fact extinguished" his mouth doesn't move for the "in fact extinguished" part of the line.
-Rumble's face is colored purple during this shot.
-When Ironhide mentions using his detectors to find the cosmitron, Trailbreaker's mouth is also moving.
-Ironhide is colored black instead of red during this shot.
-Bluestreak is colored like Prowl when the Autobots come out of the Earth space bridge.
-During this shot, Ironhide is colored like Ratchet, and Sideswipe is colored like Shockwave.
-The red stripe on Starscream's left wing is missing during this shot.
